Chapitre Cinquante-Deux
Cookie dough.
Sweatpants.
Disney movies.
John Laurens.
Alex had everything he needed for a perfect Saturday night. He ignored John's rant about how he would get salmonella from the raw cookie dough, and smirked when John took some for himself. They watched The Lion King, and then the sequel. Well, they watched The Lion King, and then John listened to Alex talk for and hour and 21 minutes about how Simba's Pride was one of the only half-decent Disney sequels. He was in his softest, warmest, comfiest sweatpants, and a loose, soft white t-shirt. He was snuggled up in his bed, little spoon to his boyfriend. Everything was perfect.
And for once, it stayed perfect.
They finished the Lion King movies and then started on all of the Little Mermaid movies. The sequels in that series weren't quite as high quality, but entertaining nonetheless, and Alex owned them so they watched them. Halfway through Return to the Sea, Alex (and John, though he wouldn't admit it) finished the cookie dough, but he was too focused on the movie to care. Hilariously enough, neither one noticed until John reached to get more, and ended up empty handed.
"You're gonna get salmonella," Alex said seriously, looking his boyfriend. John rolled his eyes, slightly smiling at how sassy Alex could get. "Don't roll your eyes," Alex scolded. "I'm just being a good little helicopter boyfriend. You know all about helicopter boyfriends." Alex winked at John, who was chuckling now.
"Well, it's not my fault that my boyfriend only ever acts like a toddler or a teenage girl," John teased. Alex stuck his tongue out at John, who raised his eyebrows, smirking. "Toddler," John said in a singsong voice. Alex laughed.
"Shut up." Alex swatted at John's arm, smiling widely. He loved moments like this. He never felt pressured to meet any societal standards around John. He was just himself, and that was good enough.
They started watching Ariel's Beginning, due to them playfully arguing for the rest of movie number 2. They were only about five minutes into the movie when Alex felt the need to speak again.
"We should've watched this one first. I mean, it is the prequel after all," John nodded, and thought for a second about the response.
"But we're watching in order of release. It's like watching Lord of the Rings before the Hobbit, or the order you decide to watch the Star Wars movies in," John explained. Alex looked down at the bed, contemplating what John said. He nodded, satisfied (cough, cough) with what John said, and turned his attention back to the movie. About a half an hour later, however, Alex once again started speaking.
"Did I have one or two packages of cookie dough in my fridge?" Alex asked.
"Two, but now it's only one," John answered, not taking his eyes off the screen. Alex struggled to turn and face him, while stayed cuddled up.
"Love, could you get the other package of cookie dough?" Alex asked, giving John the puppy dog eyes. John sighed, and nodded. He got out of bed, smiling at his boyfriend's request and walked towards the door. He got a few steps out and then poked his head in, for one last comment.
"Alex?" John asked. Alex looked over his shoulder at him, and raised his eyebrows. "You just called me 'Love'," John said, a toothy grin breaking out on his face. John went out to the kitchen as Alex looked away, blushing red, trying to remember saying that.
You didn't think that I wouldn't update on the one month anniversary of this fic, did you? That's right. One month.
One month ago I was home from school with Influenza B, bored out of my mind. I had nothing better to do than listen to Hamilton, until I decided to write a trashy fic on Wattpad. One month, and 52 chapters later, I have regular readers, and around 5.1K views! That's crazy, and I'm so grateful! Thank you to all of the people who have stuck around since the beginning, and all the new readers who decided to take a chance on this story! You guys are awesome, and I decided to give a fluffy chapter today.
Is Alex going to start using pet names? I guess we're gonna find outt
