Chapter Three: You Worry Way Too Much
"Noooooooooooooo!" Patton groaned in defeat. "How did you defeat me again, Virgil?" "I'm a wizard." Virgil replied playfully.
"Alright, my turn." Logan said, grabbing the controller from Virgil and setting down his book. If you're wondering what book it was, it was the third book from the series The City Of Ember, phenomenal series.
"It doesn't look very difficult, honestly." Logan said, gripping the controller. "Trust me, it'll get more and more complicated." Virgil said with a devious smirk.
PrinceInShiningArmor: Guess what I found out??
oneanxiousboi: what?
PrinceInShiningArmor: I'm coming to see you next weekend!! 💜
Virgil practically squealed in excitement. "What-What's wrong?" Logan dropped the controller and so did Patton. They both rushed over to Virgil. "What happened?" Patton asked.
Virgil was trying to keep himself from crying. He was overwhelmed with happiness and anxiety. "R-Roman's c-coming to s-see me..." He muttered. "What!? That's awesome kiddo!" Patton exclaimed, throwing his arms around Virgil.
Virgil threw his arms back around Patton and Logan. He started crying, he couldn't stop himself. He had the biggest grin on his face.
He eventually let go of them, wiping off tears from his face. "When's he coming?" Logan asked. "This w-weekend." Virgil stuttered, still trying to stop himself from crying.
"Well that's great, Virgil!" Patton said, smiling widely. "I'm gonna go call him. I'll be back in a minute." Virgil said, wiping his hand across his face and rushing into the other room. He whipped out his phone and called Roman.
"Hi dear." Roman said, answering straight away. "Y-You look like you've been crying. Are you okay?" "No no no no no, I'm fine." Virgil mumbled, attempting to wipe away any remaining tears. "I literally burst into tears the moment you told me you could come." Virgil said, not bothering to try and cover up a small chuckle.
"I did, too! Remy was really excited to tell me. I didn't stop crying for half an hour." Roman almost mumbled the last bits.
"I'm still reeling..." Virgil mumbled, feeling more tears brew in his eyes. "I mean, we get to meet each other in a week! Think about that! For the first time ever..." "It's gonna take around seven hours for the drive. We'll be staying about a week or so..." Roman said. "If I can't stay that long or anything it's fine..."
"Oh no, it's completely fine! I mean, I'll have to call off work but it'll be fine, my boss is super chill." Virgil mumbled. "Well that's good!" Roman said, smiling happily.
"Virgil, it's your turnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!" Patton called.
"I...should go." Virgil said with a chuckle. "I think you should, love. Good luck with your game!" Roman exclaimed. "Thanks, Ro. I'll talk to you later, 'kay?" Virgil said. "Sounds good! Love you, Virgey." Virgil blushed at the nickname, but decided not to comment. "Love you, too, Ro."
Virgil felt bad to hang up, but he had to. He was at his friend's house and it was rude.
"Did he call you 'Virgey?'" Logan asked. Virgil felt his face heat up. He'd barely made it back to his spot, and Logan was already asking about Roman.
"U-Uh...yeah..." Virgil mumbled. Patton squealed, rambling on about how cute they were. Virgil sighed.
Virgil sat at his computer desk, hunched over, his hand starting to cramp, and his eyes losing concentration. He set down the pen and stood up. Virgil stretched and went to grab a quick snack. He sat back down not long after with a bowl trail mix.
Virgil heard the familiar sound of the Skype ringtone. He sighed, knowing exactly who it was. Without hesitating, he answered.
"Hey Ro." He said, grabbing a peanut out of the bowl. "How's your day been?" "It's been pretty good. I'm a lil' tired, though." Roman said. "How about you?" "Well, pretty good. I've been working on a new drawing recently." Virgil said.
"That's great! How's it coming along?" Roman asked. "Well, I just finished inking it. I'm gonna wait til tomorrow to color it..." Virgil mumbled, grabbing a little bit of trail mix.
"And to wait for the ink to dry. Because if it smudges, I will scream." Roman chuckled. There was a short silence between the two.
"So, one week, huh?" Roman mumbled awkwardly. "Oh my god, I couldn't stop thinking about it all day!" Virgil gushed.
"I'm so nervous about it...." "What? Why?" Roman asked, confused as to why he was nervous. "I mean, we've never met each other before. It's my first time meeting someone over the internet in real life, how can you not be anxious about that?-"
Virgil was starting to ramble, and Roman could see the worry and panic in his eyes. Just as Virgil was starting to raise his voice, Roman decided to cut him off.
"Virgil!" He, almost, shouted. Virgil jumped, Roman seeing the tears starting to form in his eyes. "Hey, calm down. I can assure you, everything will be all right, my love." Roman said softly. "Just calm down for now, okay?"
Virgil took a deep breath, trying to keep his panicked thoughts at the back of his mind. "It's gonna be a first for me, too. You've nothing to worry about, dear." Roman said softly. "It'll be okay."
Virgil sighed. "I-I worry way too much about these types of things..." He mumbled. "Hey, it's fine! It's scary doing something like this! You have every right to worry, Virge!" Roman said, smiling softly at his boyfriend.
"It's okay, love. Just don't worry too much, dear."
