Chapter Four: Boring

Virgil was almost done with work. He just finished cleaning up and had his stuff and was ready to go. But, before he could leave, he had to go speak to his boss. He caught him just before he left, and placed a hand on their shoulder. They turned around and smiled at Virgil. "Hey, what's up?" They asked.

"So, hey, I'm gonna need to call off this weekend..." He mumbled. "All right. Why so?" Thomas, the boss, asked. "My boyfriend is coming to visit..." Virgil mumbled awkwardly. Thomas made an "awwww" sound and said, "That's great! Yeah, of course you can!" "Thank you so much!" Virgil exclaimed, almost wanting to throw his arms around Thomas, but decided against it.

"No problem! Now go get some sleep, Virgil. You have opening shift tomorrow." Thomas said, winking at him. Virgil groaned, remembering he had to get up early. "Yeah, okay. See ya tomorrow, Thomas." He said, walking out the door.

Virgil decided to walk to work today because he knew that he had barely walked to and back from work. He gazed up at the night skies, dazzled at the sparkling stars. It was breathtaking.

That's just the feeling you got when you looked up at the sky where he lived. The sky was just clear of clouds and was full of shining stars.

Virgil sighed, and continued walking towards his house. He passed by the field that he visited occasionally to stargaze with Logan and Patton. Virgil got an idea in his head, thinking Roman would enjoy the empty and open field.

Virgil felt his heart begin to race as soon as he thought of Roman. He smiled to himself and continued his way home.

Roman was bored. Virgil couldn't do a video call because he had to get to work early. Now, Roman had nothing to do.

He'd usually talk to his boyfriend at this point, but he didn't feel like going out to a party or doing anything outside of his house.

"I've got Netflix to rebinge The Office..." He mumbled to himself. "But I've already seen it twenty times, and the bloopers fifteen and a half..."

Then he realized he was talking to himself, and chuckled quietly. Man, wouldn't it be weird if that was someone's job? He chuckled again, then got up to get a snack. He settled on some yogurt and headed to the couch.

He went all through the recommended page, and settled on a comedy routine by Bo Burnham.

Needless to say, he didn't sleep due to laughing too hard.

Now, he was passed out on the couch, when his phone started to ring. He groaned, and answered it.

"...Hello?" Roman mumbled.

"Girl I got some tea to spill."

Roman held back a chuckle. "Okay, Rem, spill the tea."

Roman flopped on his couch. The party was completely crazy. Roman was planning on partying hard, but he had to drive home, so he decided against it. I mean, it's not like it was the law or anything.

Roman decided to check in on Virgil. They hadn't had any communication at all today. As soon as the idea popped into his head, Roman called Virgil.

Virgil answered unlike he usually did. He usually answered quickly, but he was late this time.

"Hey, Ro." Virgil said, sounding like he was out of breath. "Hey Virgil. Are you all right?" Roman asked. "Oh yeah..." Virgil mumbled in between breathes. "I just got out of work." "I thought you had the opening shift...?" Roman asked, confused.

"We were slammed. They needed me all day." Virgil breathed out with a small chuckle. "It sucked, but the boss is payin' me extra."

Virgil was in his house, now, and flopped on his couch. "I'm exhausted." He mumbled. Roman chuckled. "I'm sure you are, dear." He said, "I am, too." "Oh really? Lemme guess." Virgil said. "Party." They both said in unison.

"Of course..." Virgil said with a chuckle. "Why 'm I surprised?" "Don't know." Roman said. "We've been dating for ten months now." Virgil chuckled. "That's true..." Virgil mumbled, then yawned. Roman made a 'dawwwwww' sound and Virgil glared.

"Shut up..." Virgil said, blushing. "C'mon, you're adorable." Roman cooed. "You're just like a kitten."

Virgil groaned, and yawned again. "I'm so exhausted..." He mumbled. "I'm goin' to bed. G'night Romie..."

Roman choked back another "awwwwwwwwwwwww" and simply responded with "Goodnight, dear. Love you." "Love you, too..." Virgil said.

And with that, he hung up.
