3. I Wish I Could Kiss You Right Now

THERE SHE STOOD, Robin with her walkman as she listened to the Russians on tape.

Sofia on the other hand, was banging her head on the table annoyed by Erica Sinclair ringing the bell over and over again.

"Just stop, please." Sofia mumbled.

"Why should I? Your little sailor friend should already be serving me and not doing whatever she's doing, such a nerd."

Robin took off her headphones and watched as Sofia pointed towards Erica and her friends.

"Driving me crazy." Sofia put her head down, Robin patted her head as she turned to Erica.

"I'd like to try the peanut butter chocolate swirl, please." Erica stated.

Robin replied, "No. No samples today."

"Why not?" Erica asked with a look that Sofia could not determine on her face.

"Because you're abusing our company policy," Robin answered simply.

"Where's the sailor man?" Erica asked.

"Sorry, he can't help you. He's busy." Robin answered once more.

"Doing what?" Erica asked another question and Sofia was tired of it.

"Spycraft." Sofia answered the young girl.

"Wait, what are you doing back there, you don't work here." Erica pointed at Sofia. "Can you atleast give me a sample, Blondie?"

"With that nickname I ain't giving you anything." Sofia only smirked and closed the glass door and Erica and her friends walked away.

Robin later joined Sofia in the back.

"I think we could do it if we tried. No matter what they say." Robin thought as she glanced at Sofia, Sofia glanced back, blush filled both of their cheeks.

Robin was reading the translation and kept on reading one line. "If you tread lightly." Robin was trying to figure out what it meant until there was a knock on the door.

Robin was getting up before Sofia beat her to it.

Sofia opened the door and saw a man with a box, he handed the box to Sofia, she put the box on the table as Robin went to sign the papers, Robin kept looking at the man's outfit.

As the man was leaving, Robin grabbed Sofia out of the door and they watched the man leave.

Sofia didn't get it at first but then she saw it, the cat on the back of his shirt.

"Silver Cat," Sofia muttered to Robin and with that, the two went out of Scoop Ahoy's.

Ignoring the calls of the boys who were confused as to why they were running.

Alex and Robin made it to the middle of the mall and began to look for clues.

A trip to China sounds nice." Robin repeated as they looked for something that sounded familiar. Robin tugged on Sofia and pointed to Imperial Panda.

"If you tread lightly." Robin recited a part of the translation and they went to look once more with Robin repeating the phrase.

"Kaufman shoes," Sofia said and tapped Robin towards the shoe store.

Robin smiled at the girl before reciting the last part of the translation. "When blue and yellow meet in the west."

Sofia was quick to point out the clock. "Robin, the clock, it's blue and yellow."

Robin smiled at the girl and hugged her and muttered something. "If only I could just kiss you right now."

"What?" Sofia pulled away from the hug.

Robin asked. "Oh, I was saying if only I could buy you some shoes right now, ha." Robin lied.

"Oh." Sofia was more confused now.

Steve and Dustin made their way up to them and Steve asked "Robin, Sofia, What are you guys doing?"

"Yeah, Sof, don't leave me like that!" Ryan hit Sofia.

"We cracked it," Robin said. "Cracked what?" Steve questioned as Steve didn't know what she meant by that.

"We cracked the code," Sofia answered and saw the boy's faces changed by her answer.

...

The five kids were outside in the rain, watching the store employees who now they were pretty sure were all evil Russians.

"Look for Imperial Panda and Kaufman shoes," Robin instructed Dustin, who had the binoculars.

"They're with that whistling guy, ten o'clock," Dustin said, and they all focused on him.

Sofia tuned out of the conversation as she tried her best to keep her eyes on the man.

"So, Sof, you and Robin seem to be getting along." Ryan smiled.

"Oh yeah, she's really smart and she's kind and way better than Steve."

That was until Dustin and Steve dropped the binoculars and they were forced to hide quickly.

Robin and Sofia held hands, Steve and Robin held hands as well she let go rather quickly and kept the grip of Sofia's hand.

Sofia and Ryan held hands as well, as neither didn't want to let go in that moment.

The five made their way back inside. Steve, Ryan, and Dustin decided to go home.

As for Sofia and Robin, once the door shut.

"Well that happened." Robin stated.

"Yeah, we could have died. I mean we wouldn't have but we could have." Sofia explained.

"What are you talking about? We wouldn't have?" Robin asked.

"Oh um erm, well I," Sofia scratched the back of her neck.

Suddenly Steve busted into the room.

"Hey, Sofia, you wanna catch a ride home?" Steve asked.

Sofia glanced at Robin before answering. "Uh yeah, I'll be out in a minute."

"Okay." Steve shot Sofia a thumbs up before leaving.

"She's heading home with us, but she's talking to Robin first. I don't know what she sees in her gosh, that girl is so annoying." Steve rambled.

"Maybe they're plotting against you." Ryan suggested.

"Oh yeah as if Sofia would go against me." Steve retorted.

"She would." Dustin and Ryan spoke in unison.

"So uh what did you want to tell me?" Robin referred to the conversation from earlier.

Sofia stood frozen. "Oh uh, it was nothing important. I'll see you tomorrow." Sofia walked out of the back.
