2. The Week Is Long

SOFIA WAS CONFUSED TO SAY THE LEAST, "What were those Russians saying?" The thought that had been going through her head as she walked into Scoops Ahoy's with the Hendersons.

"Hi." Dustin spoke to Robin.

"Hi." She replied.

"I'm Dustin." Dustin introduced himself before guesting to Sofia and Ryan. "And this is my friend Sofia and my brother, Ryan."

"I'm Robin." Robin smiled at the kid.

"Uh, Pleasure to meet you Uh is he here?" Dustin asked Robin.

"Is who here?" Robin asked him back.

Out of nowhere, Steve came straight out the door and the two friends did their handshake.

Robin, Sofia, and Ryan watched in amusement.

"How many kids are you friends with?" Robin asked Steve.

His smile went away and gestured to Dustin to Robin.

Steve, Dustin, and Ryan went to have their conversation while Sofia sat behind the counter while Robin served ice cream.

Everything was silent when Dustin yelled, "I intercepted a secret Russian communication!" Sofia put her head down and slowly walked over to them.

"Hey dickhead, How about you don't tell the whole world what we found?" Sofia dragged out we in the sentence.

Ryan plucked Sofia in the arm. "Don't call my brother a dickhead." Sofia sat down and took a bite of the ice cream that Steve passed to her.

"That tastes disgusting, Steve." Sofia pushed the ice cream back. "And Dustin stop lying to Steve, he's going to get no ladies and you know it."

Ryan chuckled at Sofia's statement before going quiet once he saw Dustin's glare.

Sofia saw Steve's face change before he spoke "Uh I have you know, Sofia that I will get ladies. Just watch and Now Dustin, What do I have to do for the ladies."

Dustin smiled lightly while Sofia scoffed, "All you have to do is translate." Sofia saw the look on Steve's face, she snickered.

The four teens went to the back to translate the Russian words.

...

Steve was walking back and forth eating a banana while Dustin kept replaying the recording and Sofia was playing with her fingers while Ryan has wrote the Russian alphabet on Robin's data board.

"So what do you think?" Dustin asked Steve.

"It sounded familiar," Steve answered.

"What?" Dustin questioned.

"The music." Steve clarified. "The music right there at the end."

"Why are you listening to the music, Steve?" Dustin asked.

"Listen to the Russian! We're translating Russian!" Dustin exclaimed.

"I'm trying to listen to the Russian, but there's music-" Steve was trying to reason before Robin came in the door.

"All right, babysitting time is over. You need to get in there." Robin instructed Steve. Robin went over to her board and noticed it messed up. "Hey, my board. That was important data, shitbirds. Sofia, Ryan, how could you let them ruin my board?" Robin continued.

Sofia only shrugged at Robin's question but answered. "I tried to stop them, I did."

"I guarantee you, what we're doing is way more than important than your data." Dustin reasoned.

"Yeah? And how do you know that these Russians are up to no good anyway?" Robin's question left the two boys in shock and they looked at each other questioning how she knew about the Russians.

"She has ears dickheads." Sofia muttered with her arms crossed.

"True." Ryan whispered in Sofia's direction and the two fistbumped.

"Hello, I can hear you. Actually, I can hear everything. You both are extremely loud." Robin spoke which made the two boys go quiet as she continued. "You think you have evil Russians plotting against our country, on tape, and you're trying to translate, but haven't figured out a word because you didn't realize that Russians use an entirely different alphabet. Sound about right?" This caused Steve and Dustin to look at each other.

"Uh, I have something to point out. One, I know that Russians use a different alphabet, and two, Robin don't Ryan and I in with the weirdos and three, I know some words in Russians however both of you guys didn't know that cause you didn't even bother to include me, was it the insult Steven I didn't mean I swear." Sofia put her hands up in surrender.

Robin smiled at Sofia words while Ryan laughed before the girl tried to grab the tape but Steve was able to grab it quicker.

"Whoa, what do you think you're doing?" Steve asked Robin.

"I want to hear it." Robin simply answered.

Ryan looked at Sofia and whispered in her ear. "Which one?"

"Robin." Sofia whispered.

"Me too." Ryan whispered back.

"Why?" Dustin and Steve asked.

"Cause maybe I can help," Robin answered. "I'm fluent in four languages, you know."

"Russian?" Dustin asked.

Robin spoke "Ou-yay are-yay umb-day."

This made Sofia and Ryan look at each other once more and they giggled to themselves, they knew that was pig Latin and that was nowhere near Russian.

Dustin and Steve seems to believe that and were impressed.

"That was pig Latin, Dingus." Robin saw the boy's faces fall, she laughed lightly.

"But I can speak Spanish, and French, and Italian, and I've been in band for twelve years. My ears are little geniuses, trust me." This made two look at each other as they knew they weren't going to figure out anything soon.

"Come on, it's your turn to sling ice cream, my turn to translate. I don't even want credit. I'm just bored." Robin begged and eventually, Steve went to sling some Ice cream.

《~♡~》

So there they were, The Hendersons, Sofia, and Robin listening to the Russians on tape.

"Wait, that last part, just one more time," Robin asked, Dustin began to rewind the recording.

Ryan looked up at the girl, he also made eye contact with Sofia.

"Okay," Robin pointed at the tape and he stopped it from playing. "That word, it's pronounced dly-nna-ya. Which is spelled. D, D, D," Robin tried to spell the word.

"The chair, the chair looking thingy," Dustin said pointing to the letter D on the Russian alphabet chart.

"длинная means Long," Sofia remembered as she whispered lightly. "It's long in Russian," Sofia informed the three, gaining a high five from Ryan.

Robin began to write it down. Robin went to the glass door and slide it open.

"We got our first sentence," Robin informed Steve, he looked back in light shock. "Oh, Seriously?" He asked as he held two ice creams in his hand.

"Yeah," Robin said. "The week is long." Sofia popped her head near Robin as she spoke in her Russian accent, she noticed El and Max but didn't question it and went back into the back room with the Hendersons.
