"Okay, so what do you want to watch?"

Bree bit her lip. She stared at the television in front of her, waiting for something to scream out to her. Nothing did. She sighed. "How come Netflix has to have so many options?"

She looked to her boyfriend seated on the couch next to her, lifting her head off of his chest. He simply shrugged. "I dunno, but whatever reason I can assume it helps their reviews." He paused for a moment. "But apparently the Netflix in Canada sucks."

Bree raised her eyebrow. "How come it's not the same as here?" She asked.

Conner shrugged again. "I have no idea," He said. "Maybe it's because they know Canadians actually have lives."

An amused laugh left Bree's lips. "Well at least our country can get one thing right," She chuckled before putting her head back on Conner's chest and sighing. "Is there anything good on here, anyways?"

Conner scrolled through the options for a while, finding nothing particularly interesting that he hadn't seen before. He was about to give up hope on Netflix's endless catalog of chick flicks, sappy romance movies, and cartoons that looked too terrifying to ever be played for children when something caught his eye.

He turned to Bree, who was probing the screen with intense concentration. Conner smiled. "One thing, I think."

Bree looked at him with a relieved expression. She motioned for him to continue.

"Have you ever watched The Maze Runner?"

Bree grinned sheepishly and shook her head. "Nope," She said. "I heard it's supposed to be good, though."

Conner's jaw dropped. "Never?"

"Never," Bree confirmed. She had heard the movie's name being brought up all the time, and she had looked into the plot a bit and found the premise to be pretty interesting. She had always wanted to watch it but never had the time. "I want to see it, though," She admitted.

Conner looked baffled. "How come you've never seen it? You strike me as a maze-runner kind of girl," He said.

She simply shrugged. "Too busy saving the world, I guess."

After hearing that Bree had never seen it, he was determined to make sure she saw it now. "Okay, here's how it's gonna go," Conner instructed. "You're not going home until we've finished all three movies," He decided.

Bree shook her head. "Isn't that like, six hours?" She asked with her eyebrows scrunched.

"Yep," Conner nodded. "Plus, didn't you say your family's away at a dance competition or something?" He reminded her.

Bree chuckled. "Right." After a moment of thought, she spoke again. "Oh what the heck, why not?" She took a bit of fresh popcorn that Conner had popped prior to their movie searching and threw it into her mouth. "Let's do this thing."

Conner smiled slightly. The Maze Runner was by far his favourite movie series of all time, and he was glad that he could share it with Bree for the first time. "I've gotta warn you though, it gets crazy sad."

Bree rolled her eyes. "Please," She muttered sarcastically. "It can't be sadder than my mom's cooking," She quipped.

Conner knew that Bree was going to regret what she said, but he decided to keep quiet on the manner for the time being. "Alright then," He chuckled and slung his arm around her shoulders to pull her close. "I'll be here to cry into if you need me," He teased her, earning him a light jab in the ribs.

The movie loaded and the audio began to play, setting the mood for the adventure ahead. Bree leaned her head on Conner's shoulder and kissed his cheek. "No need, trust me. I am a very unemotional person when it comes to movies," She said with confidence.

"Yeah yeah, I know," Conner replied. He had the satisfaction of knowing exactly how much pain and heartache was ahead, and he also knew that it would be worse than Bree could ever anticipate.

**************

Around two hours later, the first movie finished.

Even though Conner had seen the movie a thousand times before, the death of the youngest Glader got him every time. He was a little teary, but that was all.

Bree, however, was simply frowning at the screen. "Are you kidding me?" She said incredulously. "Man, why'd he have to die?" She grumbled and snatched another piece of popcorn.

The entire movie, Bree had been voicing her innermost thoughts about what was happening on screen, creating a commentary along with what was happening. Some people would've found it annoying, but Conner found it amusing.

For example, when Thomas had run into the maze after Minho, Bree slapped herself in the face. "What an idiot," She muttered. "Good thing he's the main character so he's guaranteed to survive."

And when Newt first appeared on screen and told Thomas that he thought he could've been a runner until he face-planted on the ground, Bree pointed to the screen dramatically and declared with her mouth full of popcorn, "I like him."

Also, when Teresa was throwing items at the boys from the top of the fort-thing, Bree cheered her on and clapped every time she hit one of them.

It was ridiculously cute, to be honest.

Now, Bree seemed to be angry rather than sad. "He was my favourite!" She exclaimed, still going on about Chuck's death. "Y'know, other than Thomas, Newt, Minho, and Teresa," She added.

Conner wrinkled his nose. "You like Teresa?"

Bree stopped eating her popcorn for a second to stare at her boyfriend peculiarly. "Yeah, don't you?" She asked, a slight accusatory tone in her voice.

Conner was afraid of what would happen if he said no, so he just shrugged his shoulders. "Nevermind," He said before getting up to make some more popcorn.

Bree's eyes widened as they followed Conner around. "Oh my god, don't tell me she dies!"

Conner froze. Thankfully, his back was towards her so Bree couldn't see his face. "I cannot confirm nor deny those statements," He said simply, putting the popcorn in the microwave and pressing the buttons.

Bree shook her head. "Dude, this sucks! Why can't everybody just live!" Bree flopped down onto the couch and groaned into a pillow. "Except for Gally, he can die," She added. "I hate Gally."

Conner snorted. "What happened to having no feelings about movies?" He asked as he brought the popcorn back to the table.

Bree threw a pillow at him. "I'm just expressing my opinions and beliefs towards the present situation, that's all," She stated matter-of-factly.

"Sure," Conner said with an eye-roll. "Now come here so we can watch the next one already," He said.

When Bree didn't move, he retaliated by chucking a pillow at her. The girl remained motionless with her eyes closed still lying down. "Sorry, I'm just contemplating over the fact that the worst human being on the planet's name is Gally. It sounds like an old man's cough," She chirped.

Conner had to stifle a laugh. Since Bree's feet were closest to him, he gave them a little tug. A cheeky smirk grew across his face. "If you don't move, I'll tickle your feet."

Bree's eyes shot open and gave Conner a terrifying glare. "You wouldn't dare," She growled.

"Wanna bet?" Conner asked with arched eyebrows.

"No, because then you'll end up owing me twenty bucks."

Conner sighed and tugged her feet again. "Come on," Conner whined. "I miss you."

Bree rolled her eyes and extended her hand out, leaning up a bit so Conner could reach it and pull her up.

Before she could move or do anything, Conner wrapped an arm around Bree's shoulders and cuddled her close. "You're so cute," She smiled, poking Conner's cheeks.

"Whatever," Conner muttered and tried to ignore the blush that was currently filling his cheeks. "Let's start the next one, shall we?" He looked down at Bree and she nodded.

"Thank god Gally's dead. I swear, if I see him ever again I'm going to flip the whole bowl of popcorn at the screen," Bree said. "His eyebrows are the only good things about him."

Conner smirked. She had no idea what was coming next. If Conner knew Bree, which he did, he'd say that by the time the last movie was over she wouldn't hate Gally nearly as much as she does now.

So he started The Scorch Trials and waited.

The movie went similarly to the first, with Bree making comments and Conner joining in. It wasn't till about halfway through Bree started squinting at the screen, the wheels in her brain turning.

She was glaring at Newt in particular. She had been for the past twenty minutes.

All of a sudden, her eyes lit up with recognition and an excited smile grew across her face. "Pause the movie!" She commanded. "Now!"

Puzzled, Conner paused it and looked at his overexcited girlfriend. "What?" He asked curiously.

"I just realized something," Bree bubbled. "When the movie started, I thought Newt sounded familiar," She started.

"And?"

"And then I remembered where I've heard him before!"

Conner nodded thoughtfully. "I think he was in a Christmas movie when he was a kid," Conner said.

Bree shook her head. "No, no. That's not what I'm talking about!" She was getting overly excited for an unemotional sixteen-year-old. "He's Ferb!" Bree exclaimed.

Conner's face remained blank. "Who?" He asked.

Bree hit him with a pillow and glared at him. "What do you mean, who? Ferb Flynn-Fletcher, of course!" When Conner still hadn't clued in, Bree rolled her eyes. "Phineas and Ferb, Conner."

The dots connected in Conner's mind, and soon enough the two teens were geeking out about their favourite childhood cartoon in the middle of their movie marathon. "Next time, we're gonna do a Phineas-and-Ferb-athon for sure," Bree grinned.

"Yeah," Conner agreed. "I haven't watched those episodes in so long," He reminisced. "We should probably finish these movies first, though." Conner nodded towards the screen and a lapse of silence descended once again.

Two more bowls of popcorn later, The Scorch Trials was at its end. Once again, no tears were shed.

Bree glowered at the screen. "If they don't get Minho back, I'm suing," She spat. "He can't die too!" She took the last of the popcorn before Conner could reach for it and stuffed it into her mouth. "Now I get why you hate Teresa so much," She said with understanding.

Conner bobbed his head. "Yeah, I'm on team Brenda," He said while getting the bowl to make a sixth batch of popcorn.

At the mention of Brenda's name, Bree nodded enthusiastically. "She is the best character other than Newt!"

Conner pressed the buttons on the microwave. "You're just saying that because you and Brenda are literally the same person," Conner retorted. "She reminds me of you."

Bree smiled at Conner. "That is the best compliment you've ever given me," She told him.

Once the popcorn was in, Conner went back to the couch. "You're like, if Newt and Brenda had a kid."

Bree wrinkled her nose. "Ew!" She shook her head as she spoke. "That's disgusting, Newt belongs with Thomas and that's final." When the timer beeped, Bree rushed up from her spot to get the popcorn and took some in her mouth the second it was in her hands.

Conner laughed. "Hey, try not to eat the whole bowl before you get here, okay?" He called to her, and Bree just rolled her eyes and stuck out her tongue.

Once she was seated and in Conner's grasp again, Conner switched to the third movie and final movie in the series. "I am so happy Gally wasn't in that movie," Bree voiced. "I hate him so much."

"Oh believe me, I know," Conner took some popcorn as he talked. "This movie's pretty sad, Bree, are you sure you can handle it?" He mocked.

For the umpteenth time that evening, Bree rolled her eyes. "Yes, I can," She answered somewhat sarcastically.

"No, I'm serious," Conner said. "Like it's sad. Really sad."

It seemed Conner's warning went in one ear and out the other, because Bree just shrugged passively and yawned. "Let's wrap this up," She said. A smile replaced her yawn after a moment. "I can't wait to see how it ends!"

Conner shook his head and laughed. "You're ridiculous, you know that?" He clucked.

"Says the ridiculous one."

Conner elbowed Bree lightly. "Oh, shut up," he bickered. Bree put her head on his chest and Conner nuzzled his face in her hair. "We better start before you finish this bowl," He muttered before kissing Bree's head.

After agreeing, Bree took the remote and started the movie. "No matter what happens, two things will never change," She said.

Conner rested his chin on Bree's head. "And those things are?"

"I hate Gally and I don't cry."

**************

"Well this is an absolutely shocking turn of events, isn't it?"

From Conner's lap, Bree sniffled and elbowed him in the ribs. "Shut up," She said weakly. "I'm traumatized."

For most of the movie, Bree had held up. She made jokes on other characters and predicted what was going to happen next. The only thing she didn't predict was when Newt was showing signs of in-immunity to the Flare, and when he showed Thomas the spreading infection. Bree's lips grew tight and she refrained from speaking as often as she did.

Putting her bets on that Newt would survive, she was absolutely heartbroken when she was let down. As soon as Newt handed Thomas his locket, she started sniffling, and by the time he died she was full on crying.

She cried harder when Teresa fell into the darkness below her, just a breath away from being saved but not quite making it.

The worst part was at the very end of the film, when Thomas read the note Newt had written him. Bree kept wiping the silent tears that had fallen down her face, but it didn't do her much good as Conner ended up taking her into his arms shortly after.

Not to mention that Bree flipped the whole bowl of popcorn when she saw Gally again.

Conner hugged Bree closer to his chest. "I know, I know," He said. "I told you it was sad." Conner's voice was muffled from being buried in Bree's hair.

"I can't believe Ferb is dead," Bree whimpered. Conner knew that it would've been rude to laugh, but the way Bree was taking the death of a fictional character made him amused and heartbroken at the same time.

Bree nestled her head into the crook of Conner's neck before muttering, "You can't kill a childhood icon like that!" She sighed and went limp. "I will never recover."

The briefest of chuckles left Conner's mouth. Pressing his lips together, he kissed his girlfriend's head again in the hopes that she didn't hear him laugh. "But hey, it was still a good movie!" Conner piped, trying to lighten Bree up.

Bree laughed softly. "Yeah, it was really good," She said. "I liked it."

"Yeah, me too," Conner said.

There was a comfortable silence hanging over the two of them for quite some time.

"So, Phineas and Ferb?" Conner asked cheerfully, breaking the quiet.

Bree squeezed Conner's neck. "Maybe tomorrow," She said with a yawn. "I'm tired."

Conner laughed. "Yeah, me too." Conner took the blanket that had been draped over the couch and covered him and Bree with it. "There," He said lowly before switching off the television.

Bree looked up at him. "This actually wasn't that bad of a date!" She smiled charmingly.

Conner furrowed his brows in a look of fake hurt. "And what, pray tell, is that supposed to mean?"

Shaking her head, Bree giggled. "Nothing!" She said unconvincingly.

Conner didn't look sold, but he didn't really care either. He pulled Bree's forehead to his and kissed her gently. "Goodnight," He told her.

"Night." Bree wrapped her arms around Conner and snuggled into his shoulder before beginning to nod off. "Conner?" She asked sleepily.

He answered with his eyes already closed. "Yeah?"

"These movies were bloody inspiring."
