VOLUME ONE-CHAPTER 6
Chapter Six- Water! Thirsty
Few minutes later, Mathin's father was reading a newspaper as Mathin's mother was tiding up her clothes, while Mathin was reciting a Qur'an by covering her hair with a dupatta. Suddenly, a loud sound of a broken pot was heard. Mathin's father was scared as yet he jumped like a cartoon character. Mathin's father came out of the house. He saw Limon who was wounded while he was crawling near Mathin's father.
Due to the anxiety of Mathin's father, he grabbed Limon to his shoulders by laying him to Mathin's bed. Mathin showed up uncovering her hair. Limon saw her covering his blood with a white napkin.
"Where did you come from?" asked Mathin.
"I have no home. I was beaten up from the streets by the muggers. A common man who tried to help people for the welfare but I lost hope" said Limon in a tired voice.
"I am sorry for your loss. Nowadays, crimes are increasing. Nevertheless we have to do our hard work by earning money and trust for the family. What about you?" asked Mathin.
"I have no family, as I've told you but yet I have friends to cheer up. I call them a family because I have no one to share my feelings. Anyways, I have gone too deep with it. Sorry, if I offended you" said Limon.
"No. It is not a problem because you seem so wounded but your eyes said more of being wounded" said Mathin.
"Yes. But it is more than you read" said Limon.
After that, Limon took a long nap. Therefore, Mathin went to plan a design on new clothes by giving the sketch of the designs. Her designs were often rejected by the boss to throw her into humiliation. Suddenly Limon raised his hands as he wanted a glass of water.
"I am thirsty. I need a glass of water, please" said Limon in a weak voice.
His beard made him itching on the neck. His shirt was kept in a wooden hanger. It was torn into pieces and it was bloodstained. Then Mathin gave him a glass of water. He was as thirsty that he treated a glass as a bottle of water.
Everyone looked surprised of his behavior. When Limon looked at their eyes he answered "I didn't drink, even a bottle of water for a long time".
After he drank it, Limon laid in the bed again. Mathin gently put her hand on Limon's head. The temperature was so hot that convinced Mathin to announce.
"Dad and mom, he is suffering for fever!" cried Mathin.
They brought him medicines that sweat his whole body. As the blood was covered with white clothes, the sweat did hardly reach his face. Mathin was concerned about Limon and her garment factory which was a downfall to a business.
Meanwhile, Salam and Farid were looking for Limon.
"Where on earth is Limon?" asked Farid.
Suddenly, a policeman came as if he were angry.
"You are under arrest for murder. The court sentenced you three to jail for 5 years" said the policeman.
The duo was scared as a cat. They shook their body as if a ghost passed by.
"We haven't done anything like that! Honestly. Who is the informer?" asked Farid.
Suddenly, it started raining. A hooded man came out from the car. When he unveiled the hood by revealing his face-it was boss, the womanizer-D.M. Ghani the chairman of the garment factory where Mathin worked in.
"D.M. Ghani? What did you do to Limon? You stupid!" cried Farid .
"I am not aware of Limon's whereabouts but I know who killed a man whom you have saved previously" said D. M. Ghani.
Then they headed to jail. Therefore, they claimed that they were innocent.
The policeman asked "why did you sent the two to jail?"
Ghani replied "there are consequences of life that had debts. People may not be clear what am I saying but it is true".
Ghani laughed wickedly. He turned on the radio and danced into a typical Bengali song.
