8. that laugh
Harry couldn't help but want to get to school as quickly as possible. Usually he hated school and the thought of being there, and ended up arriving late most days. However, after yesterday, he couldn't help but want to be there before Steph, making sure that she doesn't walk into her personal hell.
"You're ready awfully early." Anne, Harrys mother, observed. She knew him better than anyone, and certainly knew that it was unlike Harry to leave the house on time, let alone be ready.
He looked over to his mother, hating the fact that she could read him the way she does. "Just thought i'd actually try for once." He smiled, tying his shoelaces.
"How's Steph? She's a lovely girl. I'd like to see her again." She smiled, knowing full well that her son doesn't care the slightest about arriving to school on time.
"Maybe." He says, kissing his mothers cheek before saying goodbye and leaving.
Steph didn't really feel like going to school today, although she knew that she had to. She knew that if she didn't it would do nothing but make another reason for people to laugh at her. There was no way she was going to make it that easy for them.
She practically stormed into the school, still fuming about what had happened yesterday, and Lexi telling everyone that she had pictures of Harry in her room was the iceberg that sent the ship under, releasing nothing but rage.
To her, it felt as if everyone was staring at her, although she knew they wasn't. She was invisible, and that little incident yesterday doesn't change that.
When she saw Harry standing with Lexi and her new group, as well as his friends, she couldn't help but be rather annoyed - as well as jealous - he knew just how poorly Lexi had been treating Steph, yet he still willingly stood by her and listened to her meaningless conversations.
Then again, why wouldn't he be with Lexi? She thought to herself. After all her and Harry weren't even friends, so why would he care? They only had an english project together, that was it.
But why would you check up on someone that you didn't care about?
Alex and Steph sat besides each other during math, both desperately watching the clock waiting for lunch to come.
"I can't believe we still have another twenty minutes of this!" Alex groaned, slamming his head into his arms that were so carefully folded across his desk.
Steph laughed at her friend, happy that he was somewhat similar to her. Harry hated it, how Alex seemed to say all the right things and make Steph laugh. But he would never do anything to ruin their friendship. He knew just as much as she did that she could do with a friend right now. So he sucked up his pride and emotions, and let them be, hoping that nothing more will come of it than a good friendship.
"If you think about it, it's just two ten minutes. That means there's only four five minutes left!" Steph says, getting excited as she made the time feel shorter than what it actually is, Harry couldn't help but find it cute and admired her way of making things seem better than what they truly were, and he wished that he had the ability to do so.
"I'm so glad we're friends!" Alex chuckled into his arms.
"Me too! Not because i like you or anything, i just don't know what i'd do without you. After all, you are my only friend." Steph jokes, making them both laugh, the math teacher sending them both a glare.
How Harry adored her laugh. He was sure that it was the only thing that got him through the day. He still remembers the first time he heard that laugh, that pretty little laugh. That damn laugh that started this whole mess.
He still remembers the first time he heard her laugh , he remember it as clear as day. When he walked into class one day and heard the pretty sound leave her lips, causing him to turn his head and inspect just where it was that the sound had came from, as he and his friends walked to the back of the class to take a seat.
And that's how it started. The first time he had ever seen her was because of that damn laugh, and he hadn't been able to take his eyes off her since.
Both Steph and Alex had spent the course of their lunch being watched by Harry. He wasn't quite sure for the reasoning behind him doing so. He couldn't bring himself to admit that he was a little jealous of Alex. How Alex could be around her and make her laugh whenever he wanted and Harry couldn't. And he absolutely hated the thought of something happening between them two.
Lunch was soon over, and Harry had already left for english class, making it there before Steph had which didn't usually happen, although she didn't seem to notice.
"Okay everybody! In your pairs please!" Mr.Jacob calls out, and Harry quickly stood up and made his way to Stephanie. "You have until monday to complete your project, so don't be wasting time!" The teacher called it again.
"So Alex is your only friend huh? i thought we were friends?" Harry pouted, tugging on her heart strings a little.
"So, you're snooping in on my conversations now? are you the police or something?" She joked, punching his arm playfully.
"But i want to be your friend." Harry pulls his cute little puppy dog face and leaned into her shoulder, resting his head.
"Hmmm, well, i will have to think about your application. Although, i'm not quite sure when i will be able to get back to you as i am ever so busy and popular that i have many applicants already lined up."
They both began laughing, making it slightly uncomfortable for Harrys head so he sat up, left to just admire the girl besides him. He couldn't help but want to be closer to her, and rest his head back on her shoulder. But he knew that it would seem rather odd.
"As long as you get there." She says, showing of his pearly whites and dimples that Steph adores.
They had both agreed that Steph would go back to Harrys with him tomorrow to finish off their english project, making notes of the poems that they feel would be the best ones to go for. And before they knew it, the school day had ended.
Somehow during the duration of Harry walking to his car, he managed to get persuaded by Zayn to have the guys over at Harrys to 'chill'. Harry wasn't really up for it, but he knew that his friends would've turned up anyway. He text his mum quickly, letting her know that he is having a few friends over, before starting the car and driving home. Although he quickly realised that it wasn't just the boys that he had over, and that they had infant also invited the girls.
He couldn't help but hate this. He hated having his friends over, so having people over that were almost complete strangers to him who he wasn't too fond of didn't exactly sit well with him, and he couldn't wait for them to leave.
"Harry, sweetie, where's the toilet?" Lexi asked, practically laying over him.
"Straight upstairs." He responded bluntly before getting up and walking to the kitchen without looking back.
Lexi made her way upstairs, using the bathroom but decided that she would spend a little longer upstairs to snoop. It hadn't taken her long to find Harrys room, after all, it was right besides the bathroom.
She looked around the dull room, wondering wether or not she should go down anything, but decided agains it.
She was coming complete and utterly fuming at the fact that Steph had been in Harrys room before, and even more so that she would be back in here tomorrow. Once again, she had decided that she would take the opportunity to toy with Steph. Why wouldn't she? She hated the fact that she seemed to be getting close with 'her man' and would not put up with it .
Her fingers grazed the top of her tiny red lace underwear, slowly pulling them down her slim thighs before dumping them just besides Harrys bed. She tucked them under the bed slightly, trying to make sure Harry hadn't seen them as soon as he stepped into the room.
Ever since the party, Lexi had been doing the most to make sure that both Harry and Steph hate each other. Even if it is just Harry that hates Steph. She didn't really care what she did and just how bad her actions could hurt the girl she once called a friend. She had her goals set that she would be the one that ended up with Harry, and wasn't willing to let anyone ruin that from happening. To make sure so, she even started making plots with the girls and Zayn, doing whatever it was that they couldn't to make sure that nothing would ever happen between Steph and Harry.
Anne was definitely shocked when she had came home from work, not expecting so many people over, especially so many girls. She had questioned Harry about it once everyone had left, leaving him to explain to her that he had no idea that his friends had invited them all over.
It wasn't long after that he went straight to his room and stripped off for bed and fell straight asleep, all the bullshit had completely drained him.
