Authors note
Heya people!
Thank you very much for not giving up on me yet, and being patient while I update the story.
I promise you I haven't given up writing, and I will be keeping up my daily updates.
This note is regarding an anonymous review I got, and I want to address it.
One of my silent readers, has expressed a problem with the story.
That this story is too feminist, and it brings out feminism. Especially when Amulya talks about how her home life back in India is.
First of all
Feminism is saying that women need to have equal social, democratical, and personal rights to men. There is nothing wrong with wanting to being equals, there is nothing wrong wanting to be treated equally.
But it's not right to say, women need special treatment, or women are greater than men, like some people do.
Second of all
This story is purely fictional. All the characters, places, events happening in this book are purely fictional. Even though they are based on some real life incidents, they don't resemble any particular person.
So do not take offense because of Amulya's decisions.
I'd like to talk about the particular review I heard.
When Amulya said ' Some people are lucky to live life easily, they get to choose from the colour of paint in their room, the education they want, and the person they choose to marry'
I have been told, these sentences were too 'Feministic' and support 'Feminism'
They are basic choices, what is so feminist about wanting to choose the stream if education you want? Or wanting to marry the guy you love? Or in this case, not wanting to marry the guy you don't love?
Should a woman be shred of that rights too? Should she not be able to choose? Should she be shred of the happiness she is able to create for herself?
If yes, then I choose to be a feminist.
I was just trying to show how the life of some girls (and boys too in some cases) is.
I got the inspiration to right this story, when I had a conversation with my friend from Europe.
And this goes deeper. Deeper than what I wrote. It's a case of Emotional abuse, that many of the people face in the daily households. Women especially, but men too.
Emotional abuse, doesn't just have to be a person talking bad about you, bringing down your self esteem, or cursing you out. It can be when someone tries to control you, not let you take simple decisions in life, or complicated ones, like marrying someone you love.
That doesn't make the abuser a bad person, because in most of the situations, they don't notice they are doing it, because it runs in the family, they have always seen people treat others that way, or were treated that way, and they don't know that it's wrong.
So before I deviate completely out if topic, I'd like to say a few things-
1. Amulya has been raised in a toxic household, where her brother was treated as higher than her, and her as a girl was expected to get married and have kids.
2. Amulya and Keshav didn't love eachother. They both agreed to the marriage, because they were forced to. Just like Amulya was forced, Keshav was forced too. And they were NOT engaged officially. In Hindu culture (Since Amulya is a Hindu) they do a large ceremony, invite guests, and they do a pooja and announce the bride to be, and groom to be. They then exchange rings, and announce the marriage date, according to the birth stars and timings of the bride and groom.
Amulya and Keshav were to be engaged, but he told her to finish her education first, but Amulya called Keshav her fiance because, she didn't want to explain herself all over again to Alaric. And Keshav was technically her fiance, even if they didn't get officially engaged.
3. The point of this story is to bring to light how the lives of some people like Amulya are. How they are shred from basic choices and how they are suppressed. And to show how they can fight back, and get what they want.
4. Keep in mind that I am writing this story for myself, not for anyone else. So if you don't like the decisions that any of the characters made, talk to me. I'll try to explain why certain things happen the way they did. And if you still oppose how the main character got to choose her favourite colour paint to her wall, or, broke her engagement off with the person she never loved, I suggest you please stop reading.
Do not spread hate, and especially do not call my friend and terrorise her, about how this story is going or what the characters are doing.
I'd be willing to have that chat with you.
5. Last but not least, to all the people, who have read so far, I hope you liked this story, and hope you are patient enough to finish this and complete the journey with me.
Please don't be silent readers, I'd love to hear from you, I'd love to talk to you. I'd love to know what I have to improve in my writing, or if I'm making any grammatical mistakes.
Thank you all for choosing this book, I hope this is going to be the last author's note, until the end of the book.
The undated will be as usual from tomorrow.
I have updated Chapter seven before this author's note. Be sure to read it and do not miss.
Thank you all!!
Love
Vinu
