mini-assignment

I sat in the large leather armchair, surrounded by books. The library was my favorite room in the house. In such a big house, it was easy to get lost. I felt safe in the library. Light streamed through the window, illuminating specks of dust floating in the air. I sighed in the warm sunshine. This was happiness. I looked at the clock. Crap, I realized, Father was expecting me for dinner. I got up, hastily sticking my book back on the shelf. I hurried into the dining room. Father was sitting at one end of the long table. I sat at the other. "You're late, Olive."I winced. A maid brought me my food, and I began eating. The soup really was delicious. I looked across the room, eyes falling on the broken doll. I tried to avert my gave, but it had a pull. I remembered the day Mother had gone insane, attacking us, and throwing my favorite doll on the ground. We had never moved that doll, even after Mother had been taken away. I wanted it gone, but there was no way I was going to touch it. It's glass eyes stared at me, watching.
