An interview with Becky - How JK asked her out
Interviewer: I can't believe you got X-Ray kicked out. Do you know how hard it is to get people like him on stage?!
Becky: (rolls eyes) Celebrities, am I right?
Interviewer: This is your fault!
Who are we going to get now?
Becky: Well duh! (grabs mic)
Everyone let's give a very warm welcome to, Jackson Hemsworth!
Interviewer: Wait, what – hey! I'm announcing here. Becky, give the mic back!
Why would you even call Jackson?
Jackson: Aw, I'm offended, I thought you pretty ladies wanted me here.
Becky: Hey babe!
(The interviewer and Becky wrestle for the mic. Jackson breaks them up)
Jackson: Alright ladies, cut it out!
Interviewer: Finally, I need this mic.
Jackson, we appreciate having you on stage, but unless you have a juicy story to relate, I'm afraid we'll have to kick you out.
Becky: (pouts) No far! You had Xavier!
Interviewer: Well, give me a good story and your beloved boyfriend can stay.
(Becky's eyes light up and she opens her mouth to talk. JK interrupts her by covering her mouth with his hand)
Jackson: Nope, you are not telling that story
Interviewer: (leans forward) What story?
Becky: Jackson asking me out of course!
You think it was interesting getting Danny and Xavier together? Well honey, you should've seen the way Jackie here, asked me out!
Interviewer: Okay, I must admit, you piqued my interest.
What happened?
Jackson: (slumps in chair, blushing) Great
Becky: (clears throat theoretically) It all started one Monday morning ...
***
I stretch my arms above my head, my yawn as big as a hippo. Climbing down groggily from my bed, I half drag myself to the bathroom I share with my sister Miranda. My eyes are half closed as I attempt to brush my teeth and take a shower, enjoying the heat of hot water pounding my bare skin. Miranda raps on the door, yelling that I take too long and that I should stop singing in the shower because it makes her eardrums bleed.
That's not true. My singing is good. Her's sucks.
After a tiresome twenty minutes of wresting with my brown mane of hair, I manage to get the thing tamed into some sorry excuse of a ponytail. Wearing a cute pink sweater and some faded jeans, I tie up my yellow sneakers and head to the kitchen, skipping along the way. Its chaotic downstairs, mum is frying eggs, the twins are racing around in their matching tracksuits. My dad is trying his best to read his newspaper, Miranda is yelling something about us being out of milk. The oldest, Margaret, is nowhere to be found.
Ah, I love the cacophony of discordant music so early in the day.
"Good morning!" I chirp happily, smiling at everyone I pass as I make my way to the counter.
Mum doesn't hear me over the sound of the stove, dad grunts a response, and Miranda mutters a greeting.
"Morning baby!" The twins hold me on either side, gripping my tightly.
"Can't breathe," I mumble, and they let go.
I grab a plate from mum, kissing her own the cheek before I sit down with eggs and bacon, snagging a piece of toast from dad's plate. He doesn't even notice. Once I'm done, I wait outside to pick up a ride with Audrey. The sky is a beautiful shade of cerulean mixed with azure, a hazy wisp of fluffy clouds splattering the bright blue. I breathe in the fresh air, smiling to myself.
Today is going to be a good day. I just know it.
"Good morning!" I hug Audrey when she pulls up on the curb, her black car standing out against the bright green grass. "How are you Aud?"
She nods in response, prying my arms from her shoulders. Audrey hasn't been one for affection, even when she started dating Tony, she refuses any PDA.
"Just peachy," Audrey mutters, pulling on her oversized, purple tinted sunglasses.
"Aw, why so sad," I pout theoretically.
She casts me a flat look, and then rolls her eyes, stepping on the gas pedal so we can beat the morning traffic. The disharmonic rhythm of cars hooting, engines revving, and tyres screeching catches my ears, blending into the background as Audrey turns up the radio. At once, the beautiful voice of 5SOS floods the car and I can't help but bob my head to the music.
"Since when do you like 5SOS?" I ask sceptically but happily, my shoulders bouncing along to the words. "I thought you were all about gothic rock and dark melancholy"
Audrey sighs, giving in. "I don't usually like their music. But I'll admit this, I love this song"
I squeal giddily in my seat. She frowns, holding up a hand for me to quit it. I do so reluctantly, but a grin still settles on my face. Audrey might start liking one song of 5SOS but that's the thing – one song isn't enough to quench your music thirst. You want more. I don't blame her though. Teeth is very catchy and one of my all-time favourites.
"Fight so dirty, but you love so sweet," I end up mumbling the lyrics under my breath all the way to my locker. "Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth"
"Late night devil, put your hands on me," I hear a voice mumble.
Spinning around, I shut my locker just as my best friend pops into view.
"Danny!" I pipe, throwing my arms around my brunette bestie.
"What's sup," She tips her head in reply, stepping back from my warm embrace, and stuffing her hands into her hoodie pockets.
"You never let me hug you," I whine.
She huffs out a breath. "Because you carry on like I never see you"
I put my hand on my hip. "That's because you never do, you're always spending time with X-Ray"
"Whose talking about me?"
Speak of the devil and he shall come much?
"No one wants you X-ray," I shove him by his shoulders, and he doesn't budge. "Go away"
Xavier look from me to his girlfriend. Danny simply shrugs, leaning against my locker. I thinks she's sick of our bickering. Oh well.
"Rose, let's go," Xavier holds out his hand and glares at me. "Some people aren't very welcoming"
Danny makes eye contact with Xavier; Unspoken word are exchanged on their amber and green eyes. I don't know how they manage to do that, but X-Ray and my BFF have a way of communication that requires no talking. Couple's goals, I guess.
"I'm with Becky, sorry babe"
With one last glare, Xavier leaves us, not before pecking his girlfriend's lips first. I giggle and shake my head.
"Must you provoke him?" Danny mumbles half-heartedly. "Y'know, I play soccer, but I end up being a referee for the two of you most of the time"
"Sorry," I grin guiltily, threading my arm through hers. "Shall we go to class?"
"Um," Danny glances at her phone. "I need to get some equipment from the back of the school first. The guys left the soccer balls on the field and coach wants me to pick it up"
"Uh okay," I nod. "Let's go before we're late for class"
We hurry towards the back of the school where soccer practice takes place, but Danny drags me near the parking lot instead of the field. I open my mouth to voice my confusion, but she simply shushes me. I notice her check her phone again and my puzzlement heightens when I spot Jackson's number flashing across the screen. Huh?
"This way," Danny whisper stop me, pulling me by my wrist.
I jerk in surprise when she stops at a brick wall. Well, of course it's not the brick wall that shocks me, but rather what's written on it. In colourful neon paint, the words, will you go out with me Becky? Is sprayed on the face brick, a plethora of vibrant colours splashing the words in a lively font.
I gasp, my hands flying to cover my mouth. "But – who? Who did this"
Danny rotates by the shoulders, a grin on her face. She steps back revealing the four badboys. Mark and Trey stand on one side, Xavier on the other – but its Jackson who has my attention. His normally black wear has splashes of paint, from the tips of his jeans and the hem of his dark hoodie. Even his hair has wisps of colour, and I can't help but cry out a laugh.
In his hands is a bouquet of the most opulent flowers I've ever seen, and when he steps forward, I can barely breathe, let alone think. My heart hammers in my chest when Jackson smiles at me, that cute dimple on his left cheek showing. The world around us ceases to exist and it takes all my willpower to stop myself from swooning right there and then.
"Rebecca Jones," Jackson begins with an exaggerated bow. "I've known you since freshman year when you were still that quiet girl with pigtails. I've watched you from afar, as you started blooming into the most beautiful flower imaginable. The bright colours you wear, is nothing compared to your vibrant personality and not even the sun can rival that wonderous smile of yours"
I hold my breath. His dark eyes lift to meet mine. More intense and passionate then I've ever seen them. He steps closer.
"So with that in mind, will you make me as happy as you are and go on a date with me?"
My grin widens considerably, and I fling my arms around him excitedly. "Yes, yes, yes!"
Around us, the small crowd that's gathered goes up in cheers. I hear the twins whoop and Danny shoots me a thumbs up. I can only manage a smile, my heart hammering happily as Jackson spins me around, the both of us laughing.
"I can't believe you actually did this," I say breathlessly, once he puts me down. "You like me that much?"
Jackson's smile mirrors my own. "I've always liked you, Becky. You're an amazing person"
He dips his head towards me, and the boys break out into whistles and catcalls when my forehead touches Jackson's. His breath stirs against my hair and when I think he's going to kiss me –
"MR HEMSWORTH! WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS?!"
"Crap!" Jackson swears and his eyes widen as he pulls back, tugging me along with him. "This principal is coming; we need to leave!"
I can't help but giggle as he leads me away from the wall and the crowd scatters, everyone laughing and hooting as we run around the school. By the time were clear, we're panting for breath, and the bell rings amidst the chaos.

Interviewer: Aww, that's so adorable.
No one told me JK is such a sweetheart!
Jackson: (crosses his arms) Am not.
That was a onetime thing.
Interviewer: Jack, that way of asking someone out could rival a proposal.
Honestly its awesome. You really love her, don't you?
Becky: (pinches his cheeks) Don't worry, I love him just as much.
Jackson: Well, I couldn't do it alone anyway. I have to admit, Mark helped me write the script, Trey organised flowers. The twins were on watch so no one would interfere. Danny and Audrey kept Beck busy in the morning so I could get it done and Xavier convinced me to graffiti the school wall.
Becky: We all know how that ended hun.
Interviewer: Truly, what happened?
Becky: We couldn't go out that same weekend because he had detention and was busy cleaning the wall he painted.
But he did make it up to me with our first date.
Interviewer: Well, if the way he asked you out was so spectacular can only imagine what kind of a date you had!
Becky: It was pretty amazing.
We went to a 5SOS concert! That was absolutely wonderful! Then, he took me out for ice cream!
Jackson: It was impressive, wasn't it?
Interviewer: You guys are really so cute.
Forget Danvier, you two are my OTP!
Jackson: (scoffs) Just don't let the two of them hear you.
We all know Danny is the most violent and unforgiving from all of us.
Danny: Too late
(crowd erupts into cheers as Danny walks onto stage)
Danny: Hello guys, mind if I drop in?
Interviewer: That depends, do you have a story?
Danny: (shrugs) One word.
Monopoly.
Jackson: (swears) I hate you all; you know that?
