Versus

So this chapter has the beginning of a very short lived drama. I hope you ready for what's to come !!! Also somehow last week's chap didn't get published so it's a kind of double update.

Chapter 22 : Versus

I'd say today went well, but that would be lying. And my parents wouldn't be to proud if I did. I guess perhaps that getting a boyfriend, who turns out to be the most popular dude in school, isn't always the best thing.

You hear me girls?

Right so anyway, throughout this fine, lovely Monday, I have been interrogated by what I like to call the Xray fan club. Founded by Wilhiem Conrad Roentagon himself. (oh who am I kidding one of Stephanie's 'friends' just got a whole lot of other girls to question me about my ulterior motives or some shit)

Jokes on this fools, I doubt they can even spell ulterior.

Plus it didn't really help that Trey, JK and Beck continually teased me, the twins not really minding and earning weird looks from the football team.

That's concludes yet another eventful first half off my day. Which brings me to where I am now - the cafeteria. Becky and the twins couldn't make it today, they were in the library with Jenny, my best friend asked me to join but turns out it's got something to do before I came to this school.

It's weird really.

Not just that, the fact that I've only been here for like three months. Yet so much occurred. Maybe Holdenbridge is just like that in general. Back at Thornfalls the only drama would be a football tournament, things were much quieter. I was much quieter. I remember the times when Thomas and the rest of the team would be so hyped up when a game as coming up. Now that I think about it, Thomas wasn't exactly friendly with my new school. He wasn't on good terms with the captain either. Xavier.

My eyes widen realising that Xavier and Thomas were rivals during the games.

They never, ever got along.

I didn't know Xavier back then either, but I always supported Thomas's views. Which doesn't seem right now that I think about it.

Shaking my head, I walk into the cafeteria, my shoulders hunched and hands in the pocket. Mum says that's bad posture. I'll fix it. Eventually.

I poke Xavier in the shoulder, giving him a small wave,"Sorry, hey I don't want to be clingy but do you mind if I j-"

"Sure!" Trey smiles pulling a chair before Silver can answer, "Take a seat Danny"

I give him a smile, sitting next to Jackson who immediately is ordered to swap with his best friend. I roll my eyes. Boys are so immature. I mutter a 'jealous' to Silver who in return steals my slice of pizza.

"Dude!" I frown

"Really Rose, you just Dude zoned me?" He deadpans, slowly eating my wonderful slice of pizza.  "Well to late, we're already dating"

"WHAT!" Jackson screeches, bringing us all to a halt."How come I don't know about this?"

"They've legit been the only talk today, do you seriously have no gossip-y girls sitting next to you," Mark says in a bored voice, turning towards me. "It took your'll way to long to become an item"

By now both Jack and Trey are gleaming with excitement wanting to know all the details. I throw my head back Groaning. Do boys generally want to know this Crap? Even I don't want to talk about this.

"I say we ask Bec for shipping names," Trey tells the ravenette.

Jac nods sagely. "For sure. Mark what you say?"

He looks up from the small laptop placed in front of him, eyes glimmering from the screen light with annoyance. "Not interested"

The two boys huff, their arms crossing in some twisted kind of unison.

"I say we go undercover and stalk them"

"Definitely a good plan. What you say Mark?"

Silence.

"Maybe we should chaperone make sure they don't do any inappropriate activities"

"Nice thinking. What you say Mark?"

Silence.

"Okay, before your'll say anything more embarrassing, we're right here you know," I interrupt throwing a chip at Jack's head still annoyed that I have one less slice of yummy pizza.

"Yeah and . . ." Jackson comments, ignoring my statement with a careless wave at his hand.

"She thinks we didn't notice her, duh!" Trey facepalms, nudging his friend and pointing to Silver and I.

Is he sarcastic or dead serious?

"They'll carry on, it's best to ignore," Xavier says kissing my cheek before putting his head on my lap. "Mahn I need a nap"

"Get off me deadweight," I roll my eyes in vexation but I don't try moving him off.

"No," Xavier whines dragging the 'o'. "I said I need a nap"

Okay, cute

"There a library go use it," I reply giving up. I rake my hands through his silky white hair, the strands brushing against my skin.

I need his shampoo.

"You know your hair is more like an ash blond, you know that?"

He drives me a disgusted look. "I am anything but blond"

Trey laughs. "Dude, you're more blond then anyone of us are"

True enough. Trey's a brunette, Mark's a redhead and JK -- a ravenette.

"Yeah, but you act more blond, then I do," Silver mutters then looks up at me, amber eyes glinting. "You coming for the big game?"

"Wouldn't miss it," I grin, him catching on the double meaning.

"You like Football, Danny?" Jac asks me, leaning his head on his propped arm. "Damn man, Xray you're lucky dude"

"You should come for prac, be fun," Mark suggests, looking up from his computer.

Well I'm already there . . .

"Wait, you guys don't mind girls playing football?"

"Why shouldn't girls play? Cheerleading isn't really helpful ask any player unless one of them is your girlfriend, but anyone can do that," Jackson answers, oblivious to my confusion. "We don't mind a girls football team"

"Yeah I'd prefer watching girls in football uniform, now that's hot," Trey adds with a wicked smirk.

I kick him under the table. "Well except for your comment Trey, thanks guys, I really wanted a girls teams, like my old school Thornfalls had"

"Wait . . . Your old school is Thornfalls?"

Ugh. I dug my own grave.

"Yeah, that's the one," I reply, brushing off the statement. As if Thomas didn't go there.  As if he wasn't my best friend.  As if he and Xavier weren't sworn enemies.

Meet me on the battlefield much?

"You know anyone?" I ask, regretting the question the instant it leaves my mouth.

The boys look at each other. Silver a bit hesitant to say anything, so Jackson speaks instead. "Two words"

"Thomas," Mark says glancing at his friends.

"Woods," Trey adds coldly, wearing matching expressions of grim.

"Captain of the team, star striker and my biggest rival," Silver explains his eyes a darker shade. "I wish I could play, he's going to mock me for not. My leg's really gotta heal"

"Well we still got Swift if worst comes to worst," Trey says a bit reluctant to praise my alter ego -- the other two shooting him warning looks.

They all know very little of the current situation.

"It's cool, Swift and I are on peaceful terms," Silver tells his friends reassuringly, shocking them. I earn a high five thinking it was my doing. The boys impressed with Xavier's change of heart.

I take out my books, checking for the one labelled algebra, when I feel someone sliding their arms around me. Hissing I turn ready to strike, only to be met with a smiling Silver.

"Hey Rose, " he says kissing me gently.

I push him by his forehead a few seconds later.  "What's up dude?"

"Dude, are you serious Sweetheart?" He grins arching an eyebrow.

"Yeah so . . . ? Anyway how's your leg holding up," I respond glancing at his metal covered foot.

"Actually that's what I came to talk to you about," He responds as we start walking. "I spoke to a doctor and he said if I must, I can play the first half, max."

"That's so awesome," I smile. "But are you sure you won't be putting to much pressure?"

"Aww worried about me aren't we Red," Xavier grins, pulling me towards himself cheekily.

Red? Really?

I punch his arm and he mutters something about abuse. Before he can catch up,I make my way to class and try to avoid the annoying stares.

Get a life people.

Turns out Silver also had Algebra and he constantly pokes my arm whist the teacher explains the work. I try ignoring him but He.Won't.Stop.

"What? Aren't you going to ask me for the answer," Xavier says with an unapologetic shrug.

"I will if you please stop," I respond in annoyance, my eyes slitting. This feels Dè jà vu*

"Toućhe," He grins, his smile sharp.

I grab his wrist stopping the constant pokes and instead of twisting out of my hold like what I would of done, Silver kisses my hand. I pull away rolling my eyes. It's going to take time for me to get used to all of this.

The bell rings and I gather my stuff, there's a sticky note on my book which I reminded me I needed to ask Xavier something. Calling out his name, I literally hit is back because of the inertia.

And let me just say, ouch.

Damn he has a hard back.

He turns around, a confused look on his face. "Uh . . . Rose you okay?"

"We need to talk," I say, rubbing my nose as I screw my eyes shut. When I drop my palm away, thankfully there's no blood on it.

His eyes widen. "Woah, what?"

I realise my mistake, shaking my head. "No no not like that.  Silver you said you wanted to run away remember? What happened?"

"Oh thank god Rose, I thought something else. Nah, I'm not leaving now that I realised I'll be missing one extra something"

I frown. "And that is?"

"You"

It's weird pretending to be a boy and having football with your boyfriend. I mean even though Silver doesn't play at the moment he still tries to protect me and give encouragement which is so weird. I don't mind but I was managing fine and I'm scared he'll hurt himself worse. The other boys are really confused about the whole ordeal.

Like really, really confused.

I mean, it makes sense though. We were enemies, always at each other's throats and continously fought now to just become buddies at the snap of a finger, is pretty strange.

We played football non stop this week. Coach has honestly being pushing us passed the limits and now with Xavier out it's gong to be a whole lot harder. We've been focusing on strategies lately, Silver gas been assisting couch and let me tell you he is brutal.

Jackson is captain for now, which makes us two the only strikers. The midfield will be playing a bit more forward but it's going to be hard with Thornfalls defence line.

"Hey dude," I greet Brady taking a swig of energy drink. "Glad you decided to stay on the team"

"Yeah same," He says, but his voice seems kind of edgy. "Say, Dan can I tell you something bro?"

"Sure," I shrug, hoping this us my what I think.

"Xray did the oddest thing, he came up to me art and apologised, it's nice of him yeah, but pretty strange don't ya think?"

A smile tugs at my lips, Silver doesn't care about his reputation anymore.

"It is," I agree, my heart leaping. "He'd don't the same thing with me"

Brady nods in understanding, pocketing his hands. "So that explains why your'll aren't fighting anymore"

"Pretty much"

"Sup Swift," Archer greets us landing a hand on my shoulder as he smiles tiredly.

"Oh hey mahn," I tip my head,"Where's Diego?"

"¡Hola!" The brunette greets with a wave, joining our small group.

It fells like the old times when I first started playing. Now that memory feels like it occurred ages ago.

"Big game in two days time, we verse Thornfalls," Archer states solemnly,  looking between our faces. "You guys ready?"

We look at each other with similar expressions, before turning to the boy.

"Nope"
