Chapter 18: Roses

Two important things.

One, Tottenham sacked Pochettino and have a new coach which is Jose Morinho (shocking right?)

And secondly, I need to convince Brady not to quit the team. Okay, I just have to speak to him, the boy can't quit now, the game is less then a week away and Xavier is already injured.

Why does my life have to be pulled into this drama?

I haven't even been at Holdenbridge high for four months yet and already Silver caused a domino of problems, dropping one after the other. I hate having a complicated life, it means work and I have an allergy to that and people.

Oh gosh, how I hate dealing with people!

So today after parting ways with Bec and going to chem last period of the day, I see a bunch of the demon squad gathered near the door to class. I stop dead in my tracks, standing by the corner of the wall, where they can't see me, and wait for them to go to class. Honestly I never gave energy to deal with Stephanie. Like elements with ionisation- if chemistry could explain in this situation. She's one of the kinds of people who really cause my allergies to activate so to speak.

"I don't understand why hell talk to that low class shoe," One of the girls say her hand on her cocked hip. Who are they talking about?

"Yeah, maybe Xavier's just trying to make you jealous Stephanie, but look at that beach, she flippen dresses so pathetically," Vanessa's voice I recognise.

Woah.

They better not be talking about me.

Because I will let their faces meet my FISTS.

It's not like Silver and I are even friends, we barely know each other. People seriously need to shut up, shove their opinions down their throats and get a life.

I hear Stephanie laugh and let me just say, I know I'm not perfect and my laugh isn't that great but her's sounds worse then a dying hyena.

"He wants to make me jealous with that, she's such a loser," The blonde flips her hair.

Most of the other girls cackle but a few have grim faces.

"She is pretty, her names Danny, maybe he just likes her," A shy girl named Bella says meekly. One of Sheila's friends.

I like that girl already.

But Xavier does not like me, I should help her get her facts straight.

"What the actual fudge did you say?" Stephanie screeches looking like she's about to attack the fragile Bella. "That girl is anything but pretty you got that?"

"Alright, enough Stephanie," Sheila chimes in sternly, her tone firm."Girls let's go"

Half the girls, walk away whilst Stephanie's friends remain.

"Hmph, I can't belive they thought that nerd is pretty," Vanessa says once they're out of hearing range.

"Yeah, no wonder that purple freak stopped talking to them"

Huh? Audrey. The girl they assume is a freak. Shows how little they know. Gossip is so pathetic.

"Well whatever, I need to make that loser pay," Stephanie grins maliciously revealing her true nature she wouldn't dare show in public.

I clench my fists. They're such horrid people. To think I was actually considering helping her get back at Xavier. I turn around to leave, not in the mood for chemistry anymore and then obviously my book decides to fall causing me to slip and land on the cold tiles with a resounding thud.

"Hey, look it's the creepy loser!" One of the demons point at me her claws a bright orange.

Great, just flippen great.

"What now?" I groan rubbing my sore back as I try getting up wincing.

Unarmed and injured, perfect time to strike me.

The girls hover over me as I retrieve my books holding them under my arm and stand up.

"Listen here you pathetic slug, stop talking to Xray you got that? I warned you once, so back off he's mine and FYI he's just using you," Stephanie seethes in her same sickening voice.

You did not just say that girl!

"Sorry but no, you listen to me, keep him, I don't care, heck, I dont even like him but just leave me alone, I can't deal with such a low level of brain cells if your'll even have any, because if I remember correctly Xavier broke up with you," I answer sharply my words lace with anger of my own.

They need to quit it.

The blonde girls steps forward, I raise an eyebrow daring to her to speak.

"Don't try me nerd," She hisses raises one hand.

"Oh, you want to play with fire? Then let me tell you something, they all end up getting burned," I pull up my sleeves and raise my fists. "Let's settle this properly, I'm not wasting chemistry time for nothing"

The girls flips her hair again and raises her own manicured hand to slap me. I dodge swiftly and pull her hand flipping her over. The other girls gasp and move back in shock. And here I thought cheerleaders did back flips all the time. If I touch the girl again I'll probably break her, did I mention I took karate for three years? So instead of risking a suspension, I do the logical thing and crouch beside her.

"Don't mess with me"

Instead of insulting me back like I expected Stephanie began the Nile river of crocodile tears. The hell? I get up and frown looking around and trying to figure out why she's acting like I stabbed her. Maybe I should and see the reaction.

"What the he'll is going on out here?" My chem teacher Prof. Levon booms furiously swinging the door as he watches the small group beginning to disperse.

Here we flippen go again.

Mamma Mia!

I take a deep breath, stuff my hands in my jacket pockets and lean against the lockers my head back as I breathe. The queen bee pretends to struggle to get up and starts limping. She's so over dramatic. The girl made a really good act, now the teachers will think I am the bully. It's not even like I actually hurt the blonde brat. Yet.

"Sir, this girl, she . . . she just started attacking me," Stephanie sobs pitifully as Vanessa holds her.

A crowd begins to form, people are honestly bored with their lives. Now that Swift and Xray aren't at each other's throats students have to find a new source of entertainment. The teacher glares at me I drop my head and shuffle my feet, how was I suppose to defend myself with the only witnesses being Stephanie's minions. And it doesn't help that the Chem teacher is really stern and scares the shit out of me.

"It's not her fault sir, " A deep voice interjects.

'"Who said that?" Prof. Levon turns his attention like everyone else to see someone confidently make his way through the gathered crowd.

"I did sir," Xavier says putting an arm around mine and Stephanie's shoulders. "You see sir, my friend Stephanie slipped and fell so another dear Ro-Danniella wanted to help, but Stephanie here wa crying in pain"

Damn mahn he can lie smoothly.

"Is that true?" Professor asks glancing between us for any other reasonings. Both of us girls nod in affirmative.

"Very well, Stephanie go to the nurse's office and then to your class, the rest of you GET TO CLASS!"

Everyone begins to to scatter, Xavier removes his hand from Stephanie's shoulder and wipes his sleeve muttering something about brat-teria and I give him a quick smile. He nods in acknowledgement.

"Nice move by the way," He says still holding my shoulder as we walk to class.

"Thanks, you really saved me, I appreciate it," I reply.

"Well I am your prince Charming," He laughs as I shove him. "But I was late and would of had detention if not for this little commotion"

"You make lying look so easy," I state pulling out my chair and sitting.

He sits next to me folding his arms over the table. "Princess, you don't get it I make everything look easy"

I walked into that one didn't I? Arrogant jerk. Why do I ever thank him.

"Yeah, you make losing sooo easy, and failing and getting rejected oh and especially being a retard," I say drily in an over sweet voice, patting his back.

"Well you would know, wouldn't you," He deadpans smirking as his eyes twinkle.

"Yup, that's what I get for being a badboy's friend"

"So you're saying I'm a friend?" Xavier grins in victory showing his perfect white teeth.

Oh, but it's not sweet victory yet. "I was talking about JK, Trey and Mark, they're real trouble"

He shoots me a look and shuffles closer, leaning towards me, I push him away by the forehead creasing my eyebrows, "What do you think you're doing?"

"You want me to prove I'm trouble?" He whispers dangerously not budging. At all.

"Sure?" I drawl unknowingly, what the heck is he doing?

Xavier goes to theone of the glass cabinets, his chemistry notebook in his hand, flipping carefully through, he stops at one page and smiles, a mischievous glint in his eyes. The professor is too busy helping another student to see Silver shuffling a couple of things, and taking out something from his jacket pocket placing the unknown item, in the cabinet before closing it. I can't make out exactly what he did from this angle and the cabinet is tinted which doesn't help either.

"What did you do?" I whisper furiously as he sits down looking satisfied with himself.

"Just watch," He answers vaguely.

Professor Levon walks to his table as I start jotting down notes.

"Yo, Prof!" Xavier calls earning the attention of everyone. I bury my head in my hands. The idiot is going to get himself in trouble. Oooh, that's his plan of action. To get into trouble, But all I see is stupidity.

Wait why do I care?

"Behave will you Mr Rays, we're in a classroom, now what do you want ?" The teacher scowls in response.

"It says here that for the experiment we need to heat the sulfur, I'm not sure which one it is," Silver says pointing at the textbook and acting dumb.

Two reasons why he's lying, one, he is doing AP chem he should know how to identify different chemicals. And two, Xavier got an A- for the last test.

Professor goes to the glass cabinet and I hold my breath, waiting for something to happen. Nothing does. Levon continues to get the correct bottled labelled "sulfur" and proceeds to placing it on his desk along with a bunsen burner and gets out his goggles. I do to even though we're sitting in the third row.

"What did you do?" I ask again worriedly as the professor lights a flame. Fire plus Xray bad.

He looks at me with gleaming amber eyes as I gulp. Did you know that the rarest kind of amber is blue?

"The bottle isn't sulfur, it's Hydrogen Peroxide," He says still grinning

"What? That can cause a . . . No, Xavier, this is a bad idea," I frown creasing my eyebrows. Hydrogen Peroxide should NEVER be heated especially alone, it will flippen explode!

The teacher begins to pour the chemical into the beaker before putting it on the burner, I bite my it my fingers and close my eyes. I can't take this, some one has to stop him.

"Professor WAIT!" I yell standing up. Too late.

One and a half hours later . . .

I finish my physics homework in detention and Silver's lucky there's no football because coach will have our heads now that we're versing Thornfalls so soon. I can't believe I got stuck for two hours of detention with this idiot. Glancing to my left, I see him resting his head against the chair, headphones on and eyes closed.

Had to drift of to sleep leaving me bored out of my mind. He looks almost angelic for a devil. It's such a shame he's good looking. We're the only two stuck here today, I would of busted out of the here if the teacher didn't take her job so seriously. My phone died and this woman won't let me charge it so I decide to wake up Silver.

I poke his cheek continuously until his eyes eventually snap open, bloodshot and furious. I gulp. Red looks scary on him.

"What the flippen hell is wrong with you?" He hisses grabbing my finger.

I twist it out of his grip. "I need to ask you something"

"What?"

Sleeping beauty didn't get enough sleep apparently.

"Okay, maybe tomorrow, two hours are up, you coming?" I reply checking my watch before getting up myself.

"Fine, yeah, whatever," He replies groggily still sleepy as we make our way out of school and into the deserted parking lot.

"Flip, Becky's gone," I mumble getting ready to walk, remembering Bec messaged me saying she left and I said I'll be fine with taking an Uber or something.

"Wait," Xavier grabs my wrist spinning me to face him.

"Dude personal space, ever heard of it?" I snap, it's his fault, I was in detention why am I so forgiving?

"I was going to offer you a ride, I mean who wouldn't want to ride with me?" Oh.

Also, jerk.

"Uh . . . Let me see, me," I deadpan. "But Becky told me she'll wait for me"

"Jackson took your friend home that's why she changed her mind," He explains leading me to his gorgeous Bugatti Chiron. He's the owner of this beauty!

I stop staring at the sports car and shake my head. "He won't hurt her right?"

I get in and Xavier starts the car, purring it to life. I need my own car. Actually I need to learn to drive properly, something that isn't motorcycles.

"Nah, we might flirt with a lot of girls but we don't do shit like that, it's why I don't like Archer and his gang, they have no respect for females," He replies looking at the road. I nod taking in this information.

"So you wanted to ask me something?"

I snap my finger. "Oh yeah . . . Xavier you and I were talking about friend and all which made me realise that we can't be"

"Huh? As in can't be friends? Why?" He frowns, something flashing in his eyes.

"No, I mean we know nothing about each other"

"Well I'm not an open book you know Rose," He replies nodding. "Okay, what do you want to know?"

"General stuff, nothing personal just you know," I shrug turning my shoulder to face him. "Like when's your birthday?"

He sighs. "Worst day of the year, don't laugh . . . But it's on. . . The fourteenth of Feb"

"Gosh that's terrible," I reply with a shudder, Valentines is gross, "Mine is on the 2nd of July"

"Cool that's the exact middle of the year"

"I never knew that, which is even more surprising because I give random facts about things"

"Really like what? I never heard you"

"It's because I say it in my head," I reply with a tight liked smile. As he tries to comprehend how stupid that sounds.

"Like what facts?" He's interested in my weirdness, really?

"So basically when I see you, I think hey, only 5% of the world has amber eyes or like Trey, only 10% are left handed and Mark, only 2% of the world has red hair," I explain.

"Well less than 2% of the world has green eyes, so I'm lucky to meet one," He smiles at me knowingly.

Heat rushes to my cheeks. Stupid blood. I turn my head to hide my face and look out the window my eyes go wide. This isn't even close to my neighbourhood.

"Where are we going ?" I ask frowning.

The car stops, I glance at Xavier a worried expression written all over my face. Two huge gates open and Xavier drives in parking near the stairway which leads to a large gold framed oak door.

"Relax princess, this is my house, because someone didn't give directions," He answers getting out of the car. I notice him toss the keys to someone and say what I couldn't quite make out.

I don't move. Why did this idiot bring me to his house? This lunatic stupid. I refuse to budge, his house looks to grand for my flannel and jeans.

Silver opens my door. "After you princess"

He gives a mocking bow. I fold my arms and raise an eyebrow.

"Listen, if you don't get out, I'll carry you," He threatens.

Grudgingly I stomp out, he is way to pushy.

"Rose, don't be so tense, " He tries to reassure me, failing by the way. "I'm not a serial killer"

"I'm don't know that," I retort as he knocks on the door. A man immaculately dressed in a crisp white and black suit opens the door.

"Welcome sir," he nods at Xavier bidding us in, "Must I get the chef?"

My eyes widen, he has a Butler and Silver holds out his hand. "It's okay Lance, I'll get her if necessary"

I've been here before but that time was different. The lights are fully switched on, I look around, it's a huge entry hall, with a high ceiling, chandeliers having from above, two spiral staircases from either side of the hall. Everything is so full . . . Yet so empty. There only Black and White tiles void of emotion to the left is anther grand golden brown door, to the right is an open view leading to to the main lounge. The mansion looks much different from the party but in one word it's HUGE. Like colossal size. I should of figured that outside but I was to busy freaking out.

"When you're done gaping, follow me," He laughs at my response leading me by the hand to the gigantic lounge, another chandelier hanging, a few magazines on the black glass coffee table, white recliners fill the space, the huge plasma screen switched on. A figure sits in one of the recliners.

Xavier releases his grip on my hand and cups his hands together around his mouth yelling. "Blu-Ray Violet, we have a guest!"

As in Blu and ultra violet rays ?

I hear the patter of feet and see a small child running down the stairs, the figure in the recliner gets up and groans. Slowly I begin to back away ready to make run for it but Xavier grabs my hand and gain pulling me next to him.

"Stop. Doing. That, " I whisper angrily.

He shakes his head and gained takes out a rose from God-knows-where and places it in my hair. Rose red.

"Right Rose now that you're dressed appropriately meet my siblings," He says. I look at the two kids standing thee. A girl my height and a small, five or six year old boy.
