Goals

Chapter seven: Goals

After a nice shower, I wash off the hair gel and make up, which is ironic because when I'm myself I don't even wear an inch of make up. Finally done cleaning up, I tackled my homework which half way, through I gave up to eat .

What? Food is really important.

The next day at school, my whole body feels sore. I need to get used to practice again -- this is painful. Plus my ego feels really deflated because for some apparent reason the idiot [AKA Xavier] hates me. What did I ever do to him?

"Hey, guys ! What's new ?" I greet my friends the next day at school, high giving all round.

"Well, I heard only one kid called Swift got accepted onto the football team, I feel sorry for him," Audrey was saying, detailing the latest gossip.

I also feel sorry for him, honestly I thought it would be nice to be back on the team. I mean it is except, of course, that Xavier is a son of a biscuit.

"Really? How did you guys find out?" I reply, shaking away my thoughts.

"Well to be fair, Jen is the gossip queen of this group" Becky shrugs hopelessly.

"Oh my gosh, Tony have you heard, Sheila and Archer are back together after she told off Stephanie, it's like tots shocking " Ty mimics a high pitched girl voice.

The twins and I chuckled whilst both girls glared at us. Ty gulped -- causing him to choke, so as a good friend, I hit him on the back.

"Danny, owww, you slapped me so hard," he cries out flinching from my raised hand in pain.

"I do not," is my indignant reply. Okay I did.

"Oh, you sure do, I think it's bruised"

"You're being over dramatic," I roll my eyes as we go to class. The others part ways and go to their own classes.

School passes in a blur, me trying to concentrate and getting everything right. At the same time I juggle trying not to fall asleep and constantly dodging the football team.

During lunch I reminded myself to ask Becky about Xavier whilst we waited for the others.

"Hey, what's up ? You look worried," she had asked, bringing up the topic.

I look up at her and give a small smile thankful for her asking, "Is there anything off about Xavier?"

"What do you mean ? Other then half the girls at school drooling over him with his amazing looks and abs ? It's un-humanly to be so perfect," Becky replies with a glazed look and I give out a long irritated sigh, taking a bite of my lunch.

Is Xavier good looking?

Yes.

What no! Obviously not.

Obviously.

He just has a perfect face, cool amber eyes and yeah, white hair looks kinda hot. But he's my enemy and you never compliment an enemy.

"That's not what I meant, Xavier was really rude to me as Dan Swift and I don't have a clue why"

"Maybe, like what Jenny said, there hasn't been a new member on the team since Xavier became captain at the beginning of last year. He did choose all the players except you and they all listen to him. Sure, they do get into fights but that just helps them bond, now it's a change, you're bringing a change by causing a separation -- it's wrong how he treats you but it's like an alpha male guarding his territory," Becky says, in one breath.

I look at her wide eyed and clap slowly, taken aback by the short speech,"You should be a philosopher"

She does a mocking bow, I laugh at her antics before we both eat in silence.

"Hey people," Ty announces sitting down.

"Oh hi, you guys took long"

"Yeah, X-ray was going to beat up Diego in the hallway if the teacher didn't come caused a huge commotion blocking the doorway," Audrey tells us sitting along with Tony.

"Really? What for?"

My stomach does a flip. Xavier and I got into an argument because Diego befriended me. This is so horrible. I watch the cafeteria doors open and feel my appetite gone as the MIB enter. Stephanie at once rushes up to her boyfriend and I gag. He in fact tries to pull her away. Aren't they dating? Must be the over powering perfume I smelt earlier when I went to the class I had with her or the lack of clothing and he feels embarrassed. I doubt the second one. Heck yeah --  girls can wear whatever they want whether it's loose or tight I don't care but when it's to school for attention?

"That's why I find it weird, what do you think Daniella?" Aud asks snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Hmm. . . Yeah that"

"You weren't even listening," Tony deadpans.

"Becky was saying how much she loves JK," Ty teases.

"That's not true, we were talking about the new Swift kid and how he never shows up at school"

"Yeah, isn't it weird that he only comes for football prac?"

I listened to the nervously trying to come up with a reason before they figure out my secret.

"Maybe he's a spy for Thornfalls, apparently there was one," Tony says in a low whipser, darting his eyes around.

"FOOOOOSSSHHH"

That's the sound of me spitting out my grape juice in shock everyone turns to me as I look wide eyed, "What?"

I wipe my mouth with the back of my sleeve. They think, he I mean me, is a spy for my ex school? Okay that's sounds really believable. Flip didn't think this through? Why didn't god bless me with a twin brother who hates football?

"We should go watch prac, everyone wants to see what happens between Rays and the new dude"

"Sorry," I shrug, "Can't make it"

"Well, tomorrow were going out at this awesome café and you're coming," Ty commands.

"Ugh fine," I put up my hands in surrender.

After school I greet my friends before practically running down the empty hallway like a looney and head to the girls bathroom. After changing I put some hair gel and a snapback before looking in the mirror to put on the contacts. I spin on my heels, point my two index finger sat the mirror and click my tongue.

Before laughing at my dumbass behaviour. And then going to catch up with the rest.

"Hey bro, I heard you were in a figh ?" I grin at Diego as the others come, us doing the brohug thingy.

"Yeah dude where were you?" he replies frowning.

Brady and Archer nod, "It's like you're never in school"

"Long story," I sigh, before they can ask, coach thankfully comes and get ready.

"Alright men, we have the kits !"

All of us cheer. This is awesome. We have jerseys. Last week coach made us write our designated name and number on a piece of paper. So now they have arrived. I wonder what they look like? Coach made us stand in a line shoulder to shoulder as he called out our names and threw the kit to us.

"Xray number 10". typical.

"JK number 07"

"R. Edwards 02"

"D. Gabriel 29". I watched as Diego got his.

"Cooper 45". That's Brady.

"Grey 91"

"M. Anderson 08".

Archer turns to three of us and whispers something that makes me laugh,"Mark only put M and his surname because it's Manderson if you say it as one word"

"That's pretty manly," Brady adds as we chuckle. Coach glares at us and we shut up.

"Finn back missile, 01". I roll my eyes at the boy's cars 2 reference.

"Harrison 66". I watch my brunette friend get his kit before bracing myself. Ten players done I'm last.

"Swift number 13". I catch my kit and look, at it smiling. It's a gorgeous icy blue t-shirt and shorts, fading into white, in the top left corner is the huskies logo. I studied the clothes and smiled it looked amazing.

"How did it come so fast?" one of the guys asked coach.

"He looked a bit hesitant to answer,"Well I kind of made a deal with Miss Plum"

The boy's all groaned at this.

"Who's that ?" I ask.

"The cheerleading teacher," Brady whines.

Oh flippen hell.

"Great so now we have to deal with the demon squad?" I say annoyed.

The boys laugh at my nickname for them, coach wants us to share the field with the cheerleaders because the gym is occupied by the athletes club. And they can't share with us the field because they need the whole thing.

So now we're stuck with the cheerleaders and have to help them by watching every mother chucking formation.

I hate life sometimes.

"This is so stupid," Brady sighs aggravated. "Yeah, it's fun watching them but this makes me cringe"

"The more we talk the longer Miss Plum is going to keep us here," Archer warns.

Diego ignoring the two as he whistles when the girls do a couple of back flips. The other guys don't seem to be bothered and are trying not to fall asleep scared of facing coaches wrath.

We were sitting in the stadium watching really boring cheer formations this stinks. I've noticed in this school there's two types of people for almost everything. Even the cheerleaders. There's Stephanie West and her pom pom friends and then there's Sheila Ross Archer's girl.

The former try to flaunt themselves at the scarred-for-life-guys with their horrible outfits of a blue halter crop top and mini skirts, whilst the latter are here because they love the so called sport and wear the outfit because it's easier to do flips in it. But the school should improve the outfits. It's wrong to promote these kind of clothes at a school outside -- sure wear as you please but this is a learning institution.

Also, shockingly, I've learnt none of the badboys are players. I think Trey is though, in fact the players are my friends. Which I find embarrassing. Archer stopped only when he started dating Sheila. They had an on/off thing, part it's permanent now.

"Will you stop nudging me," Brady whispers to Archer.

"Don't make noise, coach is watching us," The brunette replies.

"Well why don't you stop?"

The boy's continue until Diego pulls them apart just before Archer can punch Brady.

"¿Por que no te callas?",the Spanish boy says meaning 'why don't you shut up'

"Yeah, continue and I'll beat you two to pulp," I threaten and they both keep quiet.

"Gracias," Diego thanks me.

"Lenada," I smile.
