Chapter 2

Rainbow Dash just gaped in reply.

"C-Cloudsdale?" she stuttered, trying to hold her excitement together.

"Sure thing, sugarcube!" Applejack assured from beside Dash. She smiled widely at her, showing Dash how happy she was for her.

"Guys, I can't believe it!" Rainbow exclaimed. "This is so nice!"

"Well, darling," Rarity started, "we wanted to get you something you would remember! And I do hope you'll remember this."

"Oh, I will," Rainbow said, staring wild-eyed at the ticket. This was going to be an experience to remember!

Although with it, painful memories came back. Rainbow had tried to forget, and over the years she had. But, now, when she looked at Cloudsdale written in the formal print on the ticket, she couldn't stop herself from remembering.

~FLASHBACK~

"Dash! Get in here!" a female voice shouted from the living room. "We must speak to you about something."

Dash sped into the room, her ragged, uncombed hair flying behind her. It seriously looked as if she had rubbed a balloon on her head.

"Ya mom?" Dash questioned, peeping her head in the doorway.

"Your father and I have made a painful decision." She choked on the words. "You... are being.... abandoned."

Rainbow's wild smile instantly faded. She wore a puzzled expression, along with a soon-to-be tear-streaked face.

"W-what?" Dash was lost. Her parents would never do this!

"I'm sorry, sweetie," SwiftSweeper replied, putting an arm around his wife. "We support each other, and we cannot handle raising a filly right now. You are going to Ponyville."

Rainbow looked down at the floor, which suddenly became the most interesting thing in the room. Before she left to go leave, she looked her parents one last time in the eye.

It was one look, although a thousand feelings were packed inside. Grief, pain, bewilderment.

Horror.

That was the last look Rainbow ever gave to her parents.

~FLASHBACK OVER~

The floor was just as interesting in Sugarcube Corner as Rainbow stared at it. The pain of the memories came back, each word her parents spoke almost punching her in the face.

"Rainbow?" Fluttershy calmly prodded her in the side. "Are you okay? You kind of zoned out."

"Huh? What?" Rainbow asked, looking up from the ground.

"I asked if you were okay," Fluttershy repeated. All of her other friends had turned away, being drawn into the noise of the party.

"Oh, yeah, I'm fine..." Rainbow said, trailing off. "I'm just...... thinking about what I need to pack for Cloudsdale!"

"Oh. Well, you should probably start packing. Your transportation for Cloudsdale leaves in 10 minutes."

"WHAT?!" Rainbow screeched, bursting into the air. She immediately flew out the window and back to her house, urgently finding the little stuff she needed and stuffing it into her bag.

"Just... UGH... zip.... UGH!" Rainbow huffed, pulling on the zipper. Her cheeks were puffed all the way out, and they were turning red.

"Finally!" she triumphantly said once she had zipped the tiny suitcase. "That took more time than packing!"

Dash flew out her own window this time, flying back to Sugarcube Corner after realizing she hadn't even said goodbye to her friends!

Rainbow glided through the open window, her suitcase luckily not getting stuck in the frame.

"I came back to say goodbye!" Rainbow called, pulling all of her friends into an embrace. "I'm gonna miss all of you so much."

"We will miss you too, Rainbow," Twilight calmly stated, hugging everyone tighter.

Rainbow enjoyed the moment before needing to speed off. "Goodbye, guys. I'll see you in two weeks." And then she was gone.

Rainbow gazed at the ticket she held in her hoof, trying to find the location where she would be picked up. There it was, right in the center!

Rainbow nodded, heading in the direction of the transportation. She soon reached the destination. Although, when Dash saw the type of transportation, she wasn't sure it was for her!

"Um, sir," she questioned, trotting up to the guard pony. "Who is this carriage for?"

"Miss Rainbow Dash," he sternly replied. "The Princess got it for you."

Rainbow was shocked. Twilight was too nice! "Well, then, I guess I'll get comfy!" She hopped into the cushioned carriage, planting her rear end in the seat.

The guard soon took off, flying towards Cloudsdale. Rainbow decided to enjoy the ride while looking at the sky. She stared into the clouds, like cotton candy, bouncing off of each other, floating through the sea-blue sky.

Her thoughts soon reached a change of direction when that certain somepony came to mind again. His light blue coat, his navy blue mane, soarin through the sky...
