Chapter 41

Arnor

T.A. 2537

North

Opening my eyes, I saw the early sun rising. Blinking repeatedly, I looked to see if my brothers were awake as well.

But their spot was empty.

I rubbed my eyes, wondering if I was just imagining it.

Nope.

I looked around not seeing their horses, either.

"They left me. They - I cannot - actually I can."

~"Head Northeast, be there by midday."~

They weren't how much farther we had. They were instructions.

~"There are trees that arch over a path that lead into the woods. Following the path, - now the path disappears, and its just grass. You could get lost in there, if you don't know where you're going."~

"Which I have no idea." I said to myself, seeing I was the only one here.

Just then something nudged by shoulder.

I quickly turned around see big brown eyes staring back at me, a few white strands of hair as well.

"Sorry, Meríco. I did not see you there." I said petting his nose. "Looks like its just you and me."

(Midday?) I thought.

"Come on boy. We better get moving."

~~~
Two arched trees
Meríco stood in front of the two trees that lead a path.
(Must be the right place.) I thought as I urged Meríco to move forward.
It seemed we followed the path for another hour, till it disappeared. I stopped Meríco just as the path faded.
"Where to now?" I asked myself. "Where do I go? I don't know where I'm going."
(Think Lìvia, think. There's got to be some clue they gave you, on where to go next.)
The wind started to blow.
"The Northeast wind blows."
~The wind blew as we sat around the fire. Causing it to go dim.
"Hey Lìvia?" Elladan whispered.
"Hmm?" I asked starring at the fire.
"You think you can make the fire grow?"
I looked up at my brother. He knows I don't like using it.
"Elladan, are you sure that's a good idea?" Elrohir questioned.
"I believe she can do it."
"Its not about doing it. Its about overdoing it."
"Agreed." I said.
"Ah come now. Just a little."
I looked back at the dying fire, just one thought could make it blow. I watched the fire raise a little, and smiled.
"See nothing to it."
The wind blew again.
"The Northeast wind blows."
I furred m brow. It was not Northeast wind.~
(I have to give them more credit than I really do.)
I turned Meríco around, heading Northeast.
3rd POV
The two elven Lords reached the Dúnedain borders, at early dawn. The guards stopped them, questioning their presence and identity.
"We are sons of the Lord of Rivendell, friends to the Dúnedain, and the one true King. We need to speak with Lord Arveleg." Stated Elladan.
"Welcome back Lord Elladan, and Elrohir. I'll warn Lord Arveleg of your arrival."
"Thank you." The twins replied, as they entered the village.
Elronds' sons waited outside one of the huts, for Arveleg. Few moments later, he appeared. His brown hair streamed with grey. Eyes not as young, like they once were.
"I did not expect you two to be here this early. Must be a reason."
"Yes." Elladan replied.
"Lìvia." Elrohir finished.
"Ah, is it today?"
They nodded.
~~~

The sat at a dinner table, as a fair older woman placed three breakfast plates down.

"Thank you." The twins thanked.

She smiled, nodding

"Thank you, 'Melamin.'" Arveleg replied to his wife. Then turned back to the twins. "So when should we be excepting Lìvia?"

"Midday." They replied.

"Father would tell me stories of when you two became one."

"Yes." Elrohir replied, remembering the memory.

"Thought we would never find our way."

"Are you sure, Lìvia can find her way?"

"Yes." They said confident.

~~~
Woods
They watched the hooded rider, lead the way.
"This is almost to easy." A ruffed voice stated.
The hooded figure stopped turning its head behind them. They hide back in the trees. The figure look around seconds longer, then continued to ride.
One of them moved forward.
"Wait!" Another one hissed, stopping him.
"Should we not keep following, her?" It questioned.
"We get to close, she'll sense us."
"Silence." The leader ordered. "She'll lead us right to them."
"What is the plan?"
"We attack at nightfall."
~~~

Lìvias' POV

(Go Northeast they said. You'll find your way they said.)

"If you know what your looking for, they said."

I keep that up for another hour. When I started to get the feeling something was watching me.

~"You are just paranoid as always." Elrohir said.

"Paranoid. Im not paranoid, just precautious."

"Whatever you say."~

I laughed to myself.

(And this is why people think I'm insane.)

I almost came to a clearing, seeing small huts and people. I got off Meríco, walking him by the reins to the clear space.

"Halt." One of the guards, ordered.

I did as I was told.

"Who are you and state your business."

"Second daughter to the Lord of Rivendell. I am hear to see Lord Arvegil."

"Reveal yourself, so we know you speak the truth."

I lowered my hood, revealing my ears, and hair.

The two guardsmen gasped.

"The one with two strands."

(That's a new name.)

"If you are, who you say you are. Bring the dagger."

I pulled out by black dagger, letting the midday sun catch it, in the light.

"It is true. You are her."

(Great. Now that we have established that, may I go in?)

"Enter."

"Thank you."

I lead Meríco through the opened gate, seeing the village more clearly. The bright green grass, covered in different vernation of flowers.

The wooden houses, having white smoking coming from the chimneys. Children playing with wooden swords, others playing with their dolls. The women hanging their clothes to dry, others preparing food, some even in the fields.

I saw a man splitting wood, he looked familiar.

"Give it back, Araphant!" A young girl cried.

I turned to see a six year old boy, running with a wooden sword in one hand and a doll in the other. And a five year old girl, not far behind.

"Have to catch me!"

Araphant, ran my way, who has yet to notice me, I saw my chance. Snatching the doll out of the boys' hand.

"Hey?!" Araphant shouted, looking up to see me.

"Oh." He whispered.

I smiled handing the girl her doll back.

"Here you go." I said, getting down on my knees handing her the doll.

"Thank you." She said holding the doll close.

"Your welcome."

"Wow. You're an elf!" Araphant exclaimed.

The young girls' eyes widened.

"What is your name?" She asked.

"Lìvia. What is yours?"

"Mine is Araphant." He said, proudly.

I laughed. Turning to the boy.

"Yes, I see that."

I looked back to the girl.

"My name is Hàna."

"That's a beautiful name."

Hàna blushed.

"Araphant! Hàna!" A man called.

Standing up, I seeing that it was the same man splitting the wood.

"Sir?" The children asked, looking up at him.

"Hàna, you better head back to your mother. She might be worried."

"Yes, sir. See you later, Araphant."

"See you later, Hàna."

"And you, Araphant, you better go as well."

"Yes, father."

Araphant then ran off.

"Im Araval, son of Arveleg." Araval replied, extending his hand.

"Lìvia, daughter of Elrond." I said taking it. "You look a lot like Arveleg."

He then placed his hands behind his back.

"Yes, so I've been told. I've also been told a lot about you from your brothers."

"It's a shame they never mentioned you."

"Ah, well got to kept it secret."

"Right. Though I believe I was not in Rivendell, at the time you stayed."

"That would have been twenty-five years ago."

"Yes, I was in Lothlóríen at the time."

"Ah, how rude of me. I'll take you to my father, and I'm sure we can find a place for-"

"Meríco." I replied.

"Meríco, might feel more comfortable with horses he knows."

I nodded as he lead the way, while I held Merícos' reins.

We did not walk far from where Araval, was splitting wood. The second house from him, we stopped, Araval tried to take the reins, but Meríco made a fuse.

''Maybòn bealn plantal hom, Meríco.''

''You can trust him, Meríco.''

He nodded, letting Araval take the reins, and leading him to the stables.

I took a deep breath, then knocked on the door.
