Chapter 27

A Sad Reality

T.A.2509

Rivendell

Lìvias' POV

We said our goodbyes to Naneth, wishing her a safe journey to Lothlóríen.

We watched as Naneth left Rivendell, but only I knew, she would not return the same as she left.

I let a single tear, fall.

~~~
That night
~I heard her scream, ...I heard her plea, ...I saw what they did to her.
Tears ran down my face.
I saw the scarlet blood.
When she screamed, I screamed, and when I screamed. I screamed her name.~
~~~

Arwens' POV

I heard Lìvia scream, at first I thought it was just one of her normal visions. Yes, they've been quit frequent latly.

But, she started to screaming ""Naneth"" over and over again.

I got up and ran to Lìvias' room, to see her tossing, turning, and screaming. Going over to her bedside, I tired to wake her up.

"LÍVIA! LÍVIA! WAKE UP!

But it was no use, she still tossed and screamed.

"What's going on in-" Elladan started, as he and Elrohir came in, but stopped.

"LÍVIA!" Elrohir cried, running to the other side of the bed.

Lìvia stopped.

We stopped.

No movement, no sound came. We thought it was over, but it wasn't.

Lìvia's eyes opened, her head shot up, but it quickly went back down. Her eyes hazel, unblinking.

I looked at Elladan.

"Get 'Ada!'"

Elladan nodded and left.

~~~
Third Person POV
Elrond was, for once asleep. That was until Elladan called.
'ADA! ADA!'
Elrond woke up, startled, seeing Elladan in the room.
"What is it?! What's wrong?!"
"It's Lìvia."
Elrond didn't have to say anymore, he followed his son to Lìvias' room.
~~~

Arwens' POV

I wanted her to wake up. I hated it when this happened.

I just held my sisters' hand, wanting her to come back.

"Come on Lìvia, don't do this. 'Echuio.'"

"No, no." Lìvia whispered.

Just then , Ada an Elladan came in. Elrohir went over to Elladan, as Ada went beside Lìvia.

"What happened?"

"She was screaming, 'Ada.' When I came in here, she was kicking an screaming - she was screaming, 'Naneths'' name."

~~~
Third Person POV
Elrond placed his hand over his daughters' heart.
~Seeing darkness, he heard a voice plead. A female voice.
"NO! NO! LET ME GO! LET ME GO!"
Though the voice was not Lìvias'.
"Bring the blade!" A voice spatted.
An orc no less.
"NO!"
'NANETH!'~
Elrond threw his hand back.
(Celebrían?!)
Elrond looked up at his sons.
"Your mother, is in trouble. Finder her, quickly."
The twins nodded, and ran out of the room.
'Naneth?' A shaken voice asked.
~~~

Lìvias' POV

The nightmare - no vision ended, but I was only waking up to a sad reality.

I heard Ada tell Elladan, and Elrohir to go find mother.

'Naneth?'

The two elves in my room looked at me, relieved. Arwen wrapped me in her arms, as tears fell down my face.

'Naneth, Naneth.'

"It's okay. Its all over." Arwen whispered to calm me down.

But it wasn't going to work, it wasn't all over.

It only just begun.

She wasn't going to be the same.

~~~
Its been two days, since Elladan and Elrohir left.
Oh, all right a day, but it has felt longer.
I just want it to be all over.
Arwen and I have been in the gardens for a couple of hours. It was just something for us to do.
Off in the distance, I heard the sound of hooves.
I looked for the source, finding my brothers, and mother, not far off.
[Ada.]
[Lìvia, what is it?]
[There're here.]
~~~

The memory's a blur.

It happened so fast.

The screams, the tears.

Elladan tried to comfort, Arwen has she fell into his arms. I cried in Elrohirs', as he told me everything was going to be alright.

Everything was going to be fine.

But, I knew the truth.

I knew it was not going to be alright.

I knew she was not going to be the same.

~~~
I don't know the days, the hours, the minutes, it was till Naneth came back into consciousness. How long I watched my siblings cry, praying to the Vala that Naneth would live.
I, of course had no more tears to cry. I have been crying for years. I knew that it would happen, yet I could not say. Tell them that I could have prevented, all of it.
But, I had orders ...not ...to tell ...anyone.
~~~

Third Person POV

He to lost track of the days, the hours, waiting for his beloved to return to hm.

Elrond was not about to lose hope, he knew she was going to wake up. He knew, because ...she had to.

That's when he heard a body shift.

Elrond glanced over to the bed his wife was in, thinking he only imagined it. When she shifted again, her eyes fluttered open. Celebrían looked out at the window, not glancing her husbands' way.

(Does she know I'm here?) He thought.

"Was it all real?" She asked, her voice horse.

"I only wish it was a horrible nightmare." Elrond admitted, walking to his wife.

Her blue eyes were dazed, like she was taking it all in, or remembering something.

Celebrían looked up at Elrond, eyes widened.

"Lìvia! Lìvia! Where is she?!"

"Calm down, Celebrían. What are you talking about? Lìvia has been in Rivendell the whole time." Elrond replied, sitting beside his wife.

She shook her head, violently.

"No! No, I saw her! She was there!"

"Slow down, 'Melamin.' Tell me what you saw."

"I - I saw her, I saw Lìvia there. She was screaming, but the orcs, they never heard her or even saw her."

"What did Lìvia look like?"

"Like she does now, but with a blue tint to her. Like a ghost she was."

Elrond looked at her as if she was mad. Could she have? Could she really have seen Livia?

"You think I've gone mad."

"No." Elrond said standing up, and walking to the window. "Not completely."

"Then why do you believe me?"

"You could have easily imagined it, with the amount of poison in your system." Elrond replied, making his way back to Celebrían.

"But, I didn't! She was there!"

Elrond wrapped his arms, around his crying wife.

"She was there."

~~~
Lìvias' POV
We sat in the gardens. Just the four of us, nibbling on some food. None of us could eat, we were to worried about Naneth.
Elladan and Elrohir were telling, Arwen and me, how they found Naneth, and killed most of the orcs.
"What do you mean, you only killed most of them?" Arwen asked.
"The rest of them ran off." Elladan explained.
"Cowards, they were." Elrohir stated coldly.
I saw their pain, not that it was hard to see.
It wasn't till Elrohir said my name, did I realize that I was crying.
"Lìvia?"
I looked up and saw that they were all starring at me. I quickly wiped the tears off my face.
"Sorry.' I said with a sniff. "What is it?"
"You saw 'Naneth', that night ...didn't you. You saw what they did to her."
I nodded, holding back my tears.
All of a sudden Arwen pulled my into a hug, followed by my brothers. We were silent for a moment, till Arwen broke the silence.
"It must have been awful."
I didn't speak, just hugged her a little harder, letting more tears fall. My mind left faded out of concessions only to hear a faint voice.
~ "I saw her. I saw Lìvia there."
"Alright, - alright I believe you. ..I believe you." ~
(Naneth!)
'Naneth.'
"What?" My brothers and sister asked, as we broke from our hug.
"What, - about 'Naneth?'" Elladan asked, worried.
I looked at them with hope.
"She's awake."
~~~

I left my siblings in behind. I was the first one to the door, of our parents' chambers. I quickly knocked on the door, hoping to receive an answer.

It wasn't till Arwen , Elladan, and Elrohir appeared at the door as well, that the door opened, to reveal Ada. Who starred at us, no starred at me blankly.

"We know, 'Naneth', is awake, 'Ada.'" Elladan said.

Father remained silent.

"Please, let us see, 'Naneth.'" Arwen pleaded, tears ready to fall.

Ada starred at us, then starred at me.

Out of the nineteen years I've lived, I have been able to read peoples' faces. Just something I've picked up.

I just nodded, and looked away from my fathers' gaze.

(He knows something.)

"Alright." He replied, letting them pass him.

I stayed behind, so Ada could speak to me. Elrohir looked at me before he went in. I gave him a smile. I heard Arwen speak before the door closed, after her.

'Naneth?'

The door completely closed as Ada and I walked over to a bench. I sat down, waiting for Ada to speak.

"Lìvia. I do not think you need to see 'Naneth', at the moment."

"What?! Why?!"

"She believes, she saw you, the night she was captured by the orcs."

"I - see."

"That night, was not the only time you saw her like that. Was it?" He asked firmly.

I said nothing, tears fell down. I looked down at the ground.

"When did you first see it?"

"Nine - years ago." I choked.

I couldn't, and didn't even look up.

"So, you lied to me?! You, lied when you said you saw nothing that day?!"

"No." I replied shaking my head. "I didn't see anything the first time. Only one voice, of a woman screaming. I was scared."

Ada knelt down in front of me, meeting my eyes. As I continued to tell the story.

"It wasn't till a few years later, I started to see the image. Till I saw 'Naneth', the orcs. I started to put the pieces together."

I looked up at Ada.

"I wanted to tell you, 'Ada.' I wanted to tell everyone. I wanted to stop it, but I couldn't."

"Why?" He asked firmly.

"Because, I had orders not to."

"Orders? Who ordered you?"

"I did." A new female voice replied.

We looked in the direction of the voice, seeing Lady Galadriel.

(What?!)

"Lady Galadriel, you told her?" Ada asked standing up.

"Yes."

(She's lying.)

"Why?"

(My thought precisely.)

"All will be explained, to you later. Lìvia, I believe someone wants to see you."

I nodded and made my way to the door to my parents' chambers. I paused, when I faced the door. I took a deep breath, slowly I turned the knob and walked in.

As I did I saw my siblings, surrounded Naneth. They all turned to me and smiled.

"Lìvia, there you are." Arwen said cheerfully.

Naneth then looked at me.

"Lìvia?" She questioned.

"Yes, 'Naneth.'" I replied sitting beside her.

"You're alright? Thank the Valar." She said pulling me into a hug.

"Yes, 'Naneth'. I am."

I paused for a moment, before I whispered in her ear.

"I'm sorry, 'Naneth.' Please forgive me."

"Of course my dear." She whispered back.

"I forgive you."
