Chapter 24
Festival of Starlight
T.A.2500
Greenwood
"Ouch, Arwen that hurts."
Arwen brushed my hair, quite forcefully. Naneth was about to put something on my face. Im not enjoying this at all. I hate being dolled up.
"Well, if had brushed your hair before you took your bath, we would not have this problem." Arwen replied, as she tugged on my hair.
"Well, why am I the only one getting dressed up?" I asked.
"Because, 'lell nin.' This way you can not get dirty before the festival starts." Naneth explained.
"Lìvia, do you want your braided or left like it is."
"Could you do both?"
"Of course."
As Arwen started to braid, and Naneth attempting to put this stuff on my face, I hummed a song from one of my visions. It is a peaceful song, in its own way.
"Lìvia, tonight there will be a full moon." Naneth said.
"Really?"
(Great just what I want, a whole another Elven Realm to know of my glowing hair.)
"Yes, I can not wait for the elves to see it."
(Yes, but I don't.)
'Naneth.' Arwen said unsure. "Don't you think the other elves, might be surprised at it."
(Thank you Arwen for thinking with me.)
"Well, yes, but we were all surprised upon finding out." She replied, no longer in my face.
Arwen must been finished with my hair as well.
'Naneth.' "How come your hair does not glow?"
"That is because I was not gifted by the Vala like you."
(You say gift, I say curse.)
"Go sit on the bed, while we get ready."
"Yes, 'Naneth.'"
I had to sit very carefully so I would not ruin my dress.
My dress is navy blue with a rose design, the cowl neck is gold along with a gold belt . Also wearing a white long sleeve undergarment and wearing a silver circlet on my head.
~~~
An hour later, Arwen and Naneth came out almost wearing similar dresses.
Naneths' dress is white and navy blue, with white sleeves,and a gold circlet.
Arwens' dress is navy blue, with white sleeves, and wearing a silver circlet with blue gems.
"What do you think, Lìvia?"
''Mórye lánla.''
"Lìvia, you know we don't understand you when you talk like that." Naneth replied.
I smiled.
"You're beautiful, both of you."
Naneth got down on her knees and met my eyes.
"Oh, 'hanna le, lell nin.' ''Mórye lánla,'' too."
"Really?"
"Really. Now lets go to the festival."
Just before we opened the door, there came a knock. Naneth opened the door and Ada, Elladan, and Elrohir appeared. They were all wearing navy blue robes, Ada also wearing a gold circlet, and Elladan and Elrohir wearing a silver circlet.
"May three good looking ellons, escort three beautiful elleths to the festival?" Ada asked, holding out his arm.
"Why, of course."
Naneth said taking Adas' arm and heading for the festival, followed by Arwen taking Elladans' arm. That left me with Elrohir, not that I was complaining, but I did give him a strange look.
"Yea, I didn't like the idea either, Squirt."
I only smiled, as he smiled back.
"Shall we?" He asked, arm stretched out.
"We shall." I said wrapping my arm around his.
~~~
The sun started to set when we made to the festival, but the festival does not start till the moon and stars come out.
The only ones who were here besides us was the Royal family. So while Ada and Naneth were talking to the King and Queen about the recent attack. Elladan, Elrohir, and Arwen were talking about, Valar knows what.
I noticed Legolas under one of the canopies, so I decided to join him.
"Hey."
Legolas jumped, now noticing my presences.
"Hey. Nice dress." He replied, not looking at me.
"Thank you. What's wrong?"
"Its nothing."
"Come on tell me. I know something is wrong."
"It's the festival."
"Are you not excited for it?"
"No, I am. Its just.."
"Just what?"
"Its just we don't get to drink any wine."
Im going to kill him.
"That's it? I thought it was something important."
"What? This is important." He defended.
"Yes, drinking wine is so important."
"Well not till we're of age."
"And you know what's worse than that?"
"What?"
"You get to drink before me." I stated, punching him in the arm.
"Ouch." He whispered, rubbing his arm.
"So, your hair. What's the story?"
"It's a long story."
"I have time."
~~~
"That's crazy."
"That's not even the crazy part."
"What do you mean?"
"When the moon is full, the white part of my hair will reflect off from the moons' light."
Legolas raised an eyebrow, he didn't believe me.
"Lívia!" Ada called.
"See you."
~~~
The festival has officially started. Everyone's dancing, eating, and drinking, except the elves under age. That would be me.
I was watching the elves dance under the moon, as I sat under a canopy. I'm not sure if I should show myself under the moon.
Luckily for me its cloudy tonight, and every once in awhile the clouds cover the moon and I change places.
I walked back to the table we share with the Royal family. The only one there besides me was Legolas, who was watching everyone dance.
"Why are you not dancing?" I asked.
He looked at me and answered.
"I would ask the same about you. But, the answer to your question is, I don't dance."
I nodded, and went back to eating and watching.
"I never said thank you."
"For what?"
"For stabbing him."
"Oh."
[I wasn't going to let him kill you.] I heard his thought.
"You're welcome." He replied.
Just then the music changed, into a song we both knew. I smile grew on my face, as I started to watch them dance. I wish I had a partner to do it with.
I didn't notice Legolas standing in front of me, holding out his hand. I looked at him wondering what was he doing.
"Care to dance?"
"I thought you didn't dance."
He shrugged.
"I can make an exception."
I accepted it as he pulled me to my feet. Making our way to the dance floor, the dance already started.
~~~
3rd POV
"Well, would you look at that." Elrond said, watching the two young elves dancing.
"What? Look at what?" His wife anxiously.
"Yes, what is it?" Thranduil questioned.
"The two young elves dancing, over there." Elrond replied pointing in the direction of them.
They all watched them dance. Regeína and Thranduil could not believe their eyes.
"How did she do it?"
"Do what, Regeína?" Celebrían asked.
"How did she get our son to dance?"
"I did not know he even could dance." Thranduil stated.
"Then how does he know, this dance?" Elrond asked.
"Well, he has learned many dances, but never danced with anyone, much less with an 'Elleth.'" Thranduil replied.
"Really?" Elrond and Celebrían asked in illusion.
"Oh yes." Regeína replied.
Just then the dance ended, everyone clapped, then gasps filled the air. All eyes on Lìvia, well her hair. Her white strands illuminating off the moon. Making it almost blue.
"By the Valar." Thranduil breathed.
"It's Valars' light." Regeína whispered.
~~~
Lìvias' POV
I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings as we danced. With the final note playing, ending the dance we all clapped.
That's when I heard gasps all over the palace. I looked around, seeing elves whispering to each other, one even fainted.
At first I thought it was because I was dancing with the Prince. For a normal elf no one could hear what they were whispering, but for me it was clear.
"Valars' light? Could it be?"
(Valars' light?)
I looked back at Legolas, his face pale.
"What's wrong?"
"Your hair."
I didn't have to look. I didn't have to look up at the sky.
[I told you.]
Legolas' eyes widened in surprise. He was about to speak, but I ran before he had the chance.
"Lìvia!"
