Chapter 21
A Name to the Nameless
T.A. 2500
Greenwood
3rd POV
Greenwood was a mess. All the preparation for the festival.
Regeína, Queen of Greenwood, was mostly in charge of getting everything ready.
Thranduil, King of Greenwood, really just let his wife do everything for the festival.
Legolas, Prince of Greenwood, as much as he was excited about the festival. He really did not get involved.
He just wish he knew her name.
~~~
Lìvia's POV
Getting out of Lothlóríen borders, we came upon clear fields. Joining us were Rivendells' elves, and a few of Lothóríen elves.
I heard snickers from Elladan and Elrohir, only Valar knows what.
"Hey, Arwen." Elladan said. "You want to race?"
"I'm not sure."
"Oh, come on. It will be fun." Elrohir persuaded.
"Alright."
"Can I race, too?" I asked.
"No, offense Lìvia. But I do not think Marco is fast enough." Elladan said looking back to me.
"It's Meríco. And he is just as fast as any of your horses."
Given he is half the size of the other horses.
"Alright, just don't be crying when you lose." Elladan teased.
"I do not think I will be the one crying." I whispered.
"What was that?"
"Nothing."
"Wait. Where are we racing to?" Arwen asked.
"To the top of that hill. Where the rock is." Elrohir replied pointing straight ahead.
We stopped our horses, getting into a straight line.
"On your mark." Elladan called. "Get set."
"GO!" I called, and rode towards the rock.
It did not take long for any of them to catch up. Thelon, Elladans' horse, came close behind me.
'' Mericoa!'' I told Meríco, his pace quicken. '' Faster!''
Thelon sudden became startled, and began to panic, causing him to stop. I looked behind me and saw that Thelon caused, Asfaloth and Thellen to frantic as well.
I turned back, but I was to late. I was to close to the rock. I yanked on Merícos' reins to stop. In the process I was thrown off, and landed on the ground.
"LÌVIA!" They all called.
I lifted my head up.
"I'm alright!" I called, standing up.
I grabbed hold of Merícos' reins, and got back on.
~~~
Once we were in Greenwoods' borders, Elladan and Elrohir started to tell me stories on what lies in Greenwood.
"They appear when the sun sets." Elladan whisper, looking up at the trees.
"They live deep in the trees, along the lines of the borders." Elrohir continued.
"Preying on innocent little elves, and when they lest expected it -"
"SNAP!" Elrohir shouted, which caused me to jump.
"It eats them whole." He finished, moving to forward towards the front.
"Would you two cut it out. Stop scaring our sister." Arwen commanded.
"We are only messing around." Elladan stated, moving up in the line leaving me behind Arwen.
I heard a branch snap, stopping Meríco I looked around. I pulled my hood up, and over my face. Someone or something was watching me.
(No. Elladan and Elrohir just got you spooked is all.)
Suddenly we just stopped, and unsure why. Up ahead I heard, Ada was speaking, but to who I do not know.
Again I heard something snap. I looked around again, but saw nothing. We then, started moving once again. I looked back one more time, before looking ahead.
~~~
(So this is what it looks like.)
I could not take my eyes off of it. Surrounded by trees, making one place.
We got off our horses, and I went closer to Naneth. The guards bowed in respect, as we walked in.
A few guards, leading the rest of the elves, to where their chambers.
The trees were shaped, formed, and bent, to create pathways, and rooms as such. We then came upon, what I believe to be the Kings' Hall.
I saw, who I believe to be King Thranduil. His crown of twigs and leaves, fitted to fit his head. His hair, light blonde, eyes ocean blue.
On his right of him was the Queen, Regeína. She had beautiful green eyes, like emeralds. Her hair like gold.
Then on her right, was the Prince. Who was a splitting image of the King, except for those bright blue eyes.
Legolas.
(He is the Prince?! Legolas is the Prince of Greenwood! He lied to me.)
I stayed behind Naneth, as much as I could.
'Mae tollen,' "to Greenwood, Lord Elrond." King Thranduil announced.
We bowed, they bowed back.
'Hanna le.' Ada said. "King Thranduil."
"It is good to see all of you again." The Queen said.
"King Thranduil. You remember my sons, Elladan and Elrohir, and my daughter, Arwen." Ada said, as my brothers and sister bowed once more.
"Yes, I remember. I so believe you have a new addition to the family."
(The King knows about me?)
"Yes, Lìvian. She's right -"
Ada then sighed deeply.
"Lìvian."
I poked my head out from behind Naneth.
"Come out from behind your 'Naneth', please."
I stepped out from behind Naneth, my hood still up. I do not need another realm to know of my hair.
"Lìvian, take off your hood so they can see your face." Naneth said.
I looked up at her, and shook my head.
"Lìvian." Ada said firmly.
I slowly grabbed my hood, and lowered it to reveal my face and hair.
The guards exchanged glances at each other. The King and Queen looked shocked, but not surprised.
The most surprised had to be, the Prince. Not because of my hair, but that it was me.
The King cleared his throat and spoke.
"Welcome, Lìvian. This is my son, Legolas."
I bowed, Legolas bowed back.
"We will see you all at dinner."
We bowed and left.
~~~
Legolas' POV
When she lowered her hood, her brown and white hair showed. Her brown eyes glowed.
(Peredhil?! She is Lord Elronds' daughter.)
"Welcome, Lìvian. This is my son, Legolas."
She bowed, I bowed back.
"We will see you all at dinner."
They bowed and left.
Once I could no longer see them, I left and went to my room.
"Lìvian." I whispered.
I finally knew her name, and I could not stop saying it.
I grabbed my bow and arrows, and headed for the shooting range.
~~~
Lìvias' POV
I was not even in my room for five minutes and I was already bored. I wanted to explore. I grabbed my bow and arrows, and headed out the door.
"Arwen. I'm going to look around, be back before dinner."
"Alright."
I closed the door and pulled my hood up once again.
(There has got to be a shooting range some where.)
~~~
Alright I knew the palace was big, but not this big. I started to get lost. Just as I was about to give up, I saw someone wearing a cloak. They had a bow and arrows too. I knew the only way I was going to shoot was if I followed them.
~~~
Legolas' POV
It was a lot of twist and turns, I started to get a feeling that someone was following me.
But when I turned around, no one was there. I knew only one way to be sure. To catch them by surprise.
~~~
Lìvias' POV
This elf was suspicious, and knew someone was following. Luckily, I kept my distance, and hide when they looked back.
The elf then made a sharp right turn, I quickly followed. Once I made the turn, I tripped, and fell to the floor.
'Nîdh.' I whispered.
"Why, were you following me?" The elf asked. It was a male voice, that also sounded familiar.
I said nothing, as I stood up and looked at him. As he held a dagger to my face.
The hall was dark, it was hard to see.
"Why, were you following me?" He asked again.
"Because you knew the way to the shooting range."
"How did you know that?"
"You have your bow and arrows."
He chuckled.
"Your smart. I'm sorry for tripping you, if I knew you were a maiden I would not have done so. Are you alright?"
"Yes. So how do you get there?"
~~~
We made twist and turns, even passed a few guards along the way. Once we made it outside we continued to walk through the woods.
"So, where are you from?"
"Rivendell."
"Rivendell?! You must know Lady Lìvian. Do you not?"
"I actually know her very well."
~~~
We finally made it to the archery range. Hidden in the trees that enclose each other. Targets from every direction.
"Do you like it?"
"Its amazing. Mind if I take the first shot?"
"By all means, ladies first."
I stepped up just a little bit from where I stood. I pulled an arrow out, and pulled the string back. Aiming at the target I released the arrow, bullseye.
"Nice shot." He said, shooting his own arrow.
"Thanks."
"How old are you? If I may ask."
"Ten." I replied shooting another arrow. "You?"
"Thirteen." He said, releasing another arrow. "Where did you get that necklace?"
I had almost forgotten about it.
"The wizards, gave it to me. Where did you get that dagger?"
He froze. Pulling the dagger out in the sunlight seeing it better. It was the same dagger he held to my face. But it just wasn't any dagger.
It is my dagger.
~~~
3rd POV
Queen Regeína and Lady Celebrían were speaking very rapidly, motioning their hands every which way.
Telling all the elves this, and showing them where to put that. All of this commotion for the Mereth e-rGilith.
~~~
Lìvias' POV
"Oh, it is not mine. It is a...friends'."
(He called me friend.)
"Then, why do you have it?"
"You would not believe me if I told you."
"Try me." I said, shooting another arrow.
"Alright, but I'm only going to tell you because you are my friend."
"You just said we were friends."
"If that is alright with you."
"You said it first. And yes, I would like that. - So tell me, Legolas. How did you get my dagger?"
He was taken aback by my statement. And then aimed the dagger at me.
"How do you know my name?"
"Do you not remember me?" I asked hurt.
He didn't say anything for the longest.
'Peredhil?'
~~~
3rd POV
Off in King Thranduils' study room, Thranduil and Elrond were discussing past resent attacks.
"Orcs, have been crossing the Hidden-Passage, but we have been able to stop them before they came to close."
"I understand your concern, I too have been noticing strange occurrences. The woods are becoming infested."
"Infested?" Elrond questioned. "With what?"
"When the sun sets, some of the guards hear the sound of branches snapping and clicking. We do not know what it is, or where it came from. But, we have told Legolas to come inside before the sun sets."
"Why, is Legolas in the woods?"
"He practices there."
~~~
Lìvias' POV
I smiled, and lowered my hood.
"Hello, Legolas. Or should I say Prince Legolas." I said with a bow.
He to then lowered his hood.
"No, please. Do not bow to me, or call me Prince, Lady Lìvian."
"Alright. I will not call you Prince, if you do not call me Lìvian. Just call me Lìvia."
"As you wish, Lady Lìvia. I do believe this belongs to you then." He said handing me, my dagger.
"Thank you." I said putting it back its sleeve, where it belongs.
"Why, did you not tell me you are the Prince?"
"Because, I was afraid you might only wanted to be friends if you knew I was the Prince."
"Really?"
"But, now it just seems, ridiculous. Are we still friends?"
"I hope so."
He smiled, I smiled back.
"Since we are friends." I replied. "I want to teach you something."
~~~
"That's amazing. You made that up all by yourself?"
"Yea."
"And you have not shared this with anyone else?"
"Not the whole language. Just bits and pieces."
"Well I feel honored. Now, I want to show you something."
"Show me what?"
"Just follow me." He said making his way to one of the trees.
I did so, as he started to climb the tree.
"Here, take my hand."
Grabbing his hand he pulled me up to the top. It was beautiful, you could see everything even from miles away.
Suddenly butterflies flew everywhere all around us, then flew off into the distance.
We both laughed, then I looked far out on the open plains. I saw an abounded tower.
(Dol Guldur.)
I saw a city full of life.
(Dale.)
I lastly saw a mountain.
"Eerbor." I breathed.
"You like do you not?"
"It is beautiful. Thank you - through I believe we never, truly introduced ourselves."
He nodded.
"Lìvia Peredhil. Lady of Rivendell."
"Legolas Thranduilion. Prince of Greenwood."
I smiled, he smiled back, until he frowned.
"Oh, no."
"What, is it?"
"The sun. Its setting, we must return to the palace. Quickly!" He replied, as he started climbing own the tree.
"What? Why?" I asked, following him.
"Ada, says there is something in these woods, that come at night. And that I must return home before the sun sets." Legolas said, his feet landing on the ground. Looking back up at me.
"What is wrong, Lady Lìvia."
"Nothing. Just Rivendells' trees are not as high as Greenwoods'. And please just call me Lìvia."
"As you wish, La-Lìvia."
I continued to climb down the tree, when my foot slipped on a tree branch, screaming as I fell. Luckily I caught myself, on one of the branches.
My face hitting the branch, causing blood to drip from my nose, as it throbbed.
"LÍVIA!
"I'm okay! I think."
"Hang on! I'm coming up!"
"No!" I exclaimed, as my arms started loosing their grip on the branch. "Im slipping!"
"Do you trust me!?"
I truly had no time to think.
"Yes!"
"Let go of the branch!"
Yep. Did not think that through.
"No offense Legolas, but I'm 30ft above the ground!"
"I'll catch you! Just trust me!"
"On the count of three! One!"
"Two!"
"Three!" We said together.
I let go of the branch, arms catching me, everything went black.
