2. The Vulture Swoops Down!

"Face it, Tiger, you just hit the jackpot." Mary Jane said with a cheeky grin on her face.

I stood in shock before a smile found itself on my face.

"Damn right," I said under my breath, but it seemed as if she had heard me since she giggled. "I'm (Y/n) Parker."

I extended my hand out for her, and she shook it. Her hands were soft and warm. I noticed the fresh coat of red polish on her nails.

"You've got some strong hands (Y/n). I never thought you'd have some from what your aunt told me about you." Mary Jane said as she inspected my palms.

"What did she say exactly?" I questioned as I narrowed my eyes at my aunt, who just giggled.

"Well, she told me how much you love to bury yourself in a good book or work on science experiments."

"Oh, I mean do that, but not as much as I did back in my early years of high school."

"Why don't you tell me more?"

"Go on (Y/n), go grab yourself something to eat with Mary Jane." Aunt May said with a smile on her face.

I chuckled at her attempts to get the ball rolling between me and this lovely redhead.

"Is that cool with you, Mary Jane?"

"I'm down. And just call me MJ."

"MJ, I like it."

She smiled sweetly and brushed aside some hair behind her ear.

"Thank you." She said.

I walked over to the front door and opened the door for her. She walked ahead of me as I began to hear our aunts gossiping about us. I silently shook my head before closing the door.

"What are you in the mood for?"

"Hmm, I'm fine with anything, really. I haven't eaten all day."

"If that's the case, I know this chill Mexican restaurant we can eat at. The place has the best tortas in all of Midtown."

"Ooh, consider me intrigued."

We chuckled to ourselves as we began to walk to the restaurant together. It was thankfully not much of a walk, but still a bit out of the way.

"So MJ, what brings you to your aunt's?"

"Well," she began. "I came here because I'm actually going to be attending Empire State University."

"Oh, you're going to ESU, too?" I asked, genuinely surprised.

"Yep! And since you're going there, I'll at least know someone on campus."

"Of course! I'll be there if ya need something. But I don't doubt someone like you can instantly click with so many people."

"What gives you that impression?" She asked as she began to get a bit closer to me as we walked.

"It's just a gut feeling I have. You just have this air about you that can drive people towards you. And it's not just your beauty."

She giggled and playfully slapped my arm.

"My aunt said you were a shy guy. Maybe she was wrong." She playfully said as she carried a smile on her face.

"Trust me, I am. Complete bozo when it comes to social interactions." I said while chuckling and holding my hands up in defense. "I'm not really flirting, more so stating some cold hard facts."

"But you do admit that I'm beautiful to you?"

"Yes, ma'am."

We laughed together before reaching the restaurant, I held the door open for her, and we walked in. We got seated in a booth away from everyone. We ordered our drinks as the waitress handed us the menus. I pretty much knew what I wanted as MJ glanced over it to find out what she wanted.

The waitress came back with our drinks as MJ finalized her decision and got some beef tacos with rice.

"MJ, what're you going to ESU for?"

MJ gained a red tint to her cheeks as she twirled her hair.

"Promise not to laugh?" She pleaded.

I placed my left hand on my chest and raised my right hand up.

"I swear on my very soul to not laugh."

She rolled her eyes before speaking.

"I... want to be an actress."

She looked away and quietly sipped on her lemonade.

"Really? That's actually really cool."

She looked back at me with a shocked face.

"You're not laughing...?"

"I promised I wouldn't. Besides, it's your dream. Who am I to laugh at what you want to do with your life?"

MJ gave me a sincere smile as I gave one of my own.

"Being an actress takes courage and a steady mind. I've got nothing but respect for what you want to do, MJ."

"Thank you, (Y/n). Besides my aunt, you're the only one to be supportive of my career choice." She said with a solemn look on her face.

"Whoever's put you down doesn't know a damn thing! You're gonna be great! It's all about dedication."

"My aunt may have been wrong about you being shy, but she wasn't wrong about you being a total sweetheart." She said with a bigger smile as she sipped on her lemonade.

I just chuckled awkwardly as I felt my face heating up and rubbed the back of my neck.

"I don't know about that."

"Well, (Y/n), what's someone like you wanting to do while at ESU?"

"That's... difficult to answer, if I'm being honest."

I took a sip of my drink before staring at my reflection in the glass.

I can't exactly say I'm going to be doing hero work.

I looked up at her as she held a look of curiosity on her face.

"I'm majoring in chemistry, but beyond that, I'm a little lost. I think being a professor could be cool. Heh, pretty stupid on how a smart guy has no clue on his future."

"(Y/n)," MJ softly said to me. "You've got plenty of time to figure out what you want to do."

"Thanks, MJ. Aunt May wasn't kidding about your great personality."

This caused her to blush and laugh a bit. Our food soon arrived, and we began to chow down and talk about some random stuff. We soon got done with our food, and I was handed the check. Luckily, it wouldn't put too much of a dent in my wallet.

I guess I should ask MJ to prom. This hangout has been nothing short of amazing. I should shoot my shot now.

"Hey, MJ." I said as she looked at me while resting her chin on her hand.

"Hm?" She hummed in response.

I took in a deep breath before exhaling.

"I wanted to know if you, by any chance, want to go to prom with me?"

I could feel my heart pounding like a jackhammer as my palms started to sweat. I quickly grabbed a napkin and wiped my palms under the table as MJ smiled.

"Prom? With you?"

"Yeah, dumb I know. It was worth a shot."

"Hold on, Tiger, I never said it'd be dumb. I was wondering how a gal like myself got lucky to be your date."

I looked at her dumbfounded as my jaw fell, which caused her to giggle.

"For real?!" I asked out of genuine shock.

"Damn straight. When is it?"

"This Friday."

"I can find a dress then. I'm thinking of a black one. That way, it'd be easier for us to match." MJ said as she reached her hand out and booped my nose.

"Alright! Sweet!"

I started to laugh as she smiled more.

"Alright, let's go home."

I paid the bill, left a tip, and walked out with MJ. We continued to chat more until we reached the neighborhood. Ms. Anna Watson was already in her home as we saw her from the window. She waved at us before walking off.

MJ stood at the door as I stood on the bottom of the steps to her house.

"I had a great time (Y/n)." MJ said with a small grin.

"Same here. And thanks for agreeing to be my date to prom."

"Of course. I can't wait for you to start turning heads when we pull up."

"Me? The head turner? Haha!"

I started to laugh as she began to walk over to me.

"I'm serious, Tiger. I'm gonna make sure everyone knows (Y/n) Parker isn't a wallflower anymore."

"Alright, I'll go along with what you've got planned."

"Good."

I nodded my head as we stayed there in silence for a bit before she stepped down onto the same step as me.

"And..." MJ started to blush and looked away before looking right into my (e/c) eyes. "Thank you for supporting my career decision. It means a lot to me. More than you know."

I gave her a soft smile.

"You're welcome, MJ. I'll be here if you ever need me."

Without warning, MJ jumped onto me and gave me a tight hug. I was shocked before my body defaulted to autopilot as my arms gently wrapped themselves around her. We stayed that way for a bit before she pulled away with a massive blush on her face. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have one on me either.

"Goodnight (Y/n)," she softly whispered before rushing inside. She turned and waved at me before stepping inside.

I had the biggest smile on my face and nodded my head as I ran my hand through my hair.

I had a successful blind date, got her to say yes to being my prom date, and even got a hug from her. Hell yeah!

I laughed to myself before going home, too, which was the house to the left of hers.

"How was the date (Y/n)? Did you two hit it off?" Asked Aunt May.

"I'd say it went well. She said yes to being my prom date."

Aunt May squealed in delight and pulled me into a hug.

"Oh, I just knew it! Who could resist the charm of my little (Y/n)?"

"Come on, May, relax. It's not a big deal."

"It most certainly is!" She retorted. "And don't you worry about the formal wear. I'll get that situated for you."

"Thanks, Aunt May. As long as it's black. MJ said it'd be easier for us to match that way."

"I'll keep that in mind. Now, hurry along to bed, sweetie."

"Yes, ma'am."

We split off as I went upstairs to my room. I locked my door and yawned. I then slipped into something more comfortable as I looked out my window and saw MJ undressing. She had just removed her top and stood in her jeans and black bra. I quickly dropped the blinds to my window and ducked down. After hitting it off with MJ and getting her to be my date to prom, I couldn't have her thinking I was a Peeping Tom.

MJ had told me last night that she'd be transferring to school next Monday, so it'd be a while before I could fully have a friend to talk to here at Midtown High. Speaking of which, Flash decided to check up on me alongside Harry.

"Hey Parker," Flash greeted with a smirk. "How was your date? Did you fumble?"

"Come on, Flash, don't count (Y/n) out just yet," Harry said. "He probably made a deal with the girl or something. But, I think it'd be funnier if the date fell through. So, tell us how it went."

"Well, I didn't fumble. Not in the slightest." I said honestly.

They noticed my face and saw I was rather neutral about our conversation.

"Are you serious?" Flash asked with a shocked expression.

"I am. And for your information, Harry, no deal was made."

"What the hell?!" Now it was Harry's turn to be shocked.

"What's she look like?" Flash asked as he poked me in the chest with his index finger.

I pushed aside his finger before speaking, "Bright red hair. Shining green eyes. Can't miss her."

"A redhead? Never knew you had taste (Y/n)." Harry said while nodding approvingly.

"Pfft, she's probably another dork like Parker here. One of those girls who watches those weird Japanese cartoons. And reads their backward comics." Flash said, adding a scoff at the end of his statement.

I rolled my eyes and shrugged.

"Prom is in a couple of days, so I'll wait to stun you with my date till then."

Flash couldn't help but laugh as Harry chuckled before they walked ahead to class.

It seemed like Scorpion's appearance was a major talking point among the people as everyone had posted pictures of him online. Some people had even posted videos of our fight.

This made me realize that in all three years of me being Spider-Man, I had not made a single social media account for the guy. I'd need to get on that ASAP.

After school was over, I walked out onto the open courtyard and went under a tree as I began to create a burner email account before finally leaving campus.

I slipped away into an alley before changing into my Spider-Man outfit. I swung around the city before stopping at the Chrysler Building and began setting up a Twitter account. I obviously wouldn't be the only Spider-Man account as I had seen a bunch of impersonators on the app.

Luckily for me, the handle I wanted to use wasn't taken. It was spectacspidey. My account was fully created, and I decided to do the same and create an Instagram account. My handle there was the same.

What should I do to prove that I'm the real deal?

I held my chin for a bit before gaining an idea. I turned on my phone's front camera as I webbed it up to a part of the building as I waved at the camera before doing a backflip off the Chrysler Building. I let myself fall for a few seconds before attaching a web to where I was standing and yanked myself up. I soared through the air before swinging back and forth in front of the camera. With one final front flip, I landed in front of the camera.

I stopped the recording and removed my phone from the webbing. I decided to post the video without editing out me walking away and to the camera. I posted it on both the bird app and the Gram. I knew it'd be a while for my posts to gain some traction, so I just switched back over to my civilian account before noticing a Tweet from an online news account.

"Oscorp announces new flight tech. Norman Osborn is hoping to be talking to the U.S. Military soon." I read aloud.

I shouldn't be thinking this, but Harry's dad gives me the creeps. The times I met him, he was thoroughly impressed by my intelligence, but he kept putting down Harry because of it. Plus, the dude had just an odd vibe to him that I didn't understand or like.

I shook my head before swinging off to go on patrol.

Inside one of the many labs of Oscorp Tower, a bald man with a large hooked nose and sunken eyes began pointing and berating one of the scientists there.

The poor scientist had wide rimmed glasses, was shorter than the bald man, and he was being pushed back by the bald man.

"You were the one who suggested I show off my invention to Osborn, and when I did, he studied my designs and then told me they were worthless!" The bald man shouted. "And four months after, Oscorp announces their new flight tech?! That bastard stole my invention!"

"Easy there, Toomes, we wouldn't want an old buzzard like you to pop a vessel." Said a voice from above them.

They both looked up to see Norman Osborn walking down some stairs towards them.

"Norman Osborn," growled the bald man named Toomes.

"Adrian Toomes," Norman replied. "I'll ask you not to harass my head scientist."

"I wouldn't have to if you didn't steal my creation!" He shouted.

"Oh? And what proof do you have that this flight tech belongs to you?" Norman said as he crossed his arms.

Norman stood with an air of superiority and a smug grin on his face. He wore a black suit with a red tie as his ginger hair was styled uniquely as well.

"I know because I have the blueprints!"

"Listen, Toomes. Who's to say those aren't some cheap imitation of my own blueprints? Besides, I'm the one who filed for a patent and the one who reached out to the military for backing."

"Why you," Adrian Toomes growled out. "I demand an apology!"

This caused Norman to let out a genuine laugh.

"I never apologize."

He then stepped forward to Toomes and narrowed his eyes.

"Listen well, if you couldn't accomplish anything grand in your younger years, how could an old buzzard such as yourself hope to accomplish something now?" He asked before snapping his fingers. "Security! Please escort Toomes outside."

Some men in black suits grabbed Toomes by his arms before dragging him off as he looked at the poor scientist who only watched on in pity.

"Don't worry. I don't blame you anymore." He said to the scientist.

Once the security guards escorted Toomes away, Norman turned to the scientist.

"Octavius, how's our serum coming along?"

"S-Still in the development phase, sir." The scientist named Octavius said.

Norman let out a low hum to himself. "Very well, that can wait. In due time, we will need to create a functioning prototype vehicle using the flight tech."

"Right, sir." Octavius responded.

I was swinging through the city when I saw some police cruisers sitting outside the Daily Bugle parking lot.

What's going on? I better take a look.

I web zipped to the roof of the building before stepping through the door that led from the top of the roof to inside the building. It was still unlocked, and the minute I stepped in, I jumped up to a vent and crawled inside it. I crawled around for a bit before reaching Jameson's office.

The door opened, and the police stepped inside.

"Mr. Jameson," said the first policeman.

"How can I help you, officer?" Jameson replied.

"Last night, that man who called himself Scorpion was brought in. When we questioned him, your name came up." The second policeman said.

"What? You're not implying I had something to do with that freak, right?" Jameson asked angrily.

"That freak was Macdonald 'Mac' Gargan. He told us that you gave him the idea to get revenge on Spider-Man."

"What?!" Jameson then pounded his fist on the table. "All I did was give the man the name and number of someone who could help him. Clearly, the man has lost his mind. That suit of his must clearly be cutting off oxygen to his brain!"

"You may not be wrong about him potentially losing a part of himself." The first policeman said. "We asked exactly where he obtained such powers, and he told us of an Oscorp research lab in Staten Island. When we went to investigate, the whole lab was destroyed."

"There was nothing left behind. No files, no drives, anything." Said the second policeman. "So just come with us, and we'll get things sorted out."

"If it's an Oscorp related situation, why not question Norman?!" Jonah had asked as he quickly stood from his seat.

"We have. Though he told us that the now destroyed lab had been shut down for a while and he had no records of it being up and running again."

They soon grabbed Jonah's arm and walked with him outside the office. I could still hear him clearly as the guy had only one volume setting.

"Robbie, you're in charge until I get back! Ms. Brant, call my barber and tell him to reschedule my appointment." He said.

I shook my head before exiting back to the roof. I jumped off it and swung away.

Oscorp, huh? I knew there was some bad juju with Norman. Honestly, it wouldn't be surprising if he paid the cops off.

I felt my phone buzz, so I landed on a nearby roof and answered.

"Hello."

"Hey (Y/n), I'm calling you to let you know that you might want to hold on to any pictures you have of Spider-Man." Betty Brant said over the phone.

"Oh, I kinda figured. I was walking by and saw some cop cars in the parking lot. It's nothing serious, I hope."

"It kind of is. Apparently, Mr. Jameson had a bit of a hand in creating that Scorpion guy last night."

"What? No way!" I said with fake shock.

"I couldn't believe it either. It seems that the guy from yesterday, Mac Gargan, was him all along. Robbie's in charge of the Bugle until Jameson gets back."

"So the Bugle is in capable hands, but I can't submit any photos of the wall-crawler? That's fair." I said with slight sarcasm.

Betty just laughed.

"Well, thanks for the heads up, Ms. Betty."

"(Y/n)," she said softly. "When we're on the phone or it's just the two of us, you can just call me Betty. Drop the miss. Can you do that?"

I gulped softly before letting out a quiet exhale.

"Of course. Whatever you want... Betty." I decided to put my mouth closer to the phone and spoke softly, and I could hear her let out a shaky breath before giggling.

"Thank you. I'm looking forward to Saturday night. I'll let you go now. Bye (Y/n)!" She said with enthusiasm in her voice.

"Same here, Betty. Catch ya later!"

She hung up, and I shook my head.

"Speaking of dates, I wonder if MJ is being interrogated about ours last night."

XXXXX

"So Mary Jane, how was your date with (Y/n)?" Aunt May asked the redhead.

"Well, neither you nor my aunt were lying when you said he was a sweet boy," MJ replied with a satisfied smile on her face.

"Ooh, I'm so happy to hear that!" Aunt May exclaimed.

Mary Jane's own aunt could only let out a giggle. "It seems you've brightened Aunt May's mood some, Mary Jane."

"How could I not be, Anna? It took a good push to get (Y/n) out of his shell." Aunt May responded. "So, what did you two talk about?"

"Just some normal first date things. Our interests and hobbies. And about what college we were going to attend. It'll be a bit less stressful knowing that (Y/n) will be there. It's good to have a familiar face around." MJ said as she sipped on some tea.

"Oh, you're going to ESU, too?" Aunt May asked.

"Yes, ma'am. I'm going for theater. I want to be an actress."

"Oh, that sounds lovely!"

"Thank you, May. My dream loops back around to (Y/n) being sweet. When I told him he didn't make fun of me or say anything crude. He just told me how he believed in me and knew I would do great."

MJ smiled more as she looked over at a picture of a younger (Y/n) on one of the walls.

"I can't really say how many men I know who are willing to support me." MJ had said with a pang of sorrow in her voice.

Anna Watson reached over and grabbed her niece's hand.

"Oh, Mary Jane, your father is a rotten man. I am not afraid to admit that. Just know that we're glad you're here with us. And we'll always be in your corner."

"Thank you." MJ said before hugging her aunt. "May, your nephew is great. He really is."

"I'm glad you think so, MJ. His uncle and I made sure to teach him right from wrong. And it seems to have worked out." Aunt May said as she drank a bit of tea. "But when Ben died, (Y/n) had changed. He stayed out late and was always trying to occupy himself with anything he could. I gave him a stern talking to him, and it worked. Soon though, he got himself a job at the Daily Bugle and has worked tirelessly to get pictures of Spider-Man."

"Wait, he does what?!" MJ asked, surprised.

"Oh, he hasn't told you? Well, (Y/n) goes out to take pictures of that masked man in order to make money. I tried telling him it was his money and that he should keep it, but he argued and decided that the money he earned would be used to help with the payment on the house." Aunt May said as she shook her head and sighed.

MJ had her jaw dropped. She couldn't really think of any guys she's dated or knew that were willing to go out of their way to make sure the person taking care of them had so much on their plate.

"That's... I don't even know what to say. And (Y/n) is single?!"

"Yes. (Y/n), unfortunately, has always been a loner." Aunt May stated before shaking her head. "He was top of his class in academics, but struggled in PE and making friends. He had a friend named Harry, but they stopped hanging out for whatever reason. Plus, (Y/n) is always busy doing something else."

"May, Aunt Anna, thank you for setting me up on that blind date. The way you speak of him makes me want to know him more."

"I'm sure he'd love that! Here, why don't I give you his number?"

MJ grew a small blush before accepting and typing in (Y/n)'s phone number into hers and sending him a text letting him know it was her.

XXXXX

Oh, MJ texted me. Can't respond right now, though!

I was currently swinging through the financial district as some bald guy who called himself the Vulture kidnapped Norman Osborn.

"Yo, Big Bird, mind treating the guy in your clutches with a bit of care? The open skyline of New York isn't for everyone. Trust me."

"Go away, Spider-Man! This doesn't concern you!" Vulture shouted to me.

"If there's a citizen of New York in danger, then it damn well concerns me!"

"Toomes! What is the meaning of this?!" Osborn asked the bald guy holding him.

"You know damn well what this is about! You stole my invention! I am owed an apology from you."

"I never apologize!" Norman retorted.

Dude, that's the worst thing you could've said.

"Then I have no choice but to force an apology out of you!" Vulture smirked as he finished saying that.

The Vulture currently wore a black and red outfit that kept him afloat. He wore a tight black leotard, and above that, he wore a large piece of metal that reached from his collarbone down to the end of his torso. His forearms were encased in gauntlets that had his wings attached beneath them. The outside of his wings were black as the inside was red. He had some strange metal device on the soles of his boots that hooked, which is how he held onto Norman.

I aimed a web to Vulture's back and pulled him back towards me. I grunted as I managed to reign him in before punching him across the face. He yelped in pain as his nose started to bleed.

Guess he isn't suped up like Scorpion was. Now I feel bad for punching a bald guy.

"Sorry about that, Birdie, thought you could take it." I said with a hint of concern.

"Damn you!" He shouted back.

I elbowed him in the face, this time with less force, and made him wince in pain again. It seemed he lost his focus as his makeshift talons retracted and let go of Norman. He flailed about in the air as I pushed off of Vulture and did a backflip.

I dove down before slinging a web at Norman's back and pulled him in.

"Watch it!" He exclaimed.

"Dude, I get that your suit is worth more than my entire existence, but a little bit of calm couldn't hurt! I'm trying to get you out of here!" I said with exasperation.

I started to swing away to a nearby police station as Norman started screaming about Vulture gaining on us. I looked over at Norman, who was tossed over my shoulder.

"Do you trust me?"

"Not in the slightest!"

"Works for me!"

I let him go as he started to fall. Vulture zipped past me and caught Norman by his shoulders again. I web zipped to Vulture's back once again, but this time, I stood on it.

"Look at us, just three guys in the sky. Another day in New York." I said with a carefree sigh.

"Go away! How many more times do I have to tell you?!" Vulture said with frustration.

"What?! I can't hear you over all wind in my ears!"

Vulture started to do barrel rolls as I stood with my arms crossed as Norman started to scream his head off. He tried all he could to shake me off, but thanks to my powers, I wasn't budging that easily. Soon, we were within proximity to a police station, so I finally decided to act.

"Get ready, Norman. I'm pulling the emergency brakes!" I shot two webs to a nearby building before tugging us all towards it.

Vulture shifted his body, so I would crash into it, which is exactly what I needed. At the last minute, I jumped off his back as he crashed into the glass and cracked it. He grunted with pain before dropping Norman again. I caught him with a web before swinging down to the police station. Some cops were already outside as the nearby pedestrians started making a ruckus because of us.

"Here's your stop, Norman. Be sure to leave Vulture a one-star review on Uber. His customer service was just shit."

I tossed Norman to the police officers before swinging back up to Vulture. I clung to the side of the building as he glared at me.

"Why would you save that piece of shit?! He's guilty!" Vulture hollered with a vein throbbing on his bald head.

"I saved him because that's what I do. What is he guilty of?"

"He stole my invention and is planning on selling it to the military!"

"Okay, that does sound pretty shitty of him to do. But trying to turn Osborn into a splat on the pavement is the best thing to do?"

"He deserves it more than anyone!"

"I get wanting to get back at someone who took something important from you. But outright murdering someone isn't going to help you feel better!"

Vulture looked at me before sneering.

"Really, a guy in spandex knows about loss? I seriously doubt that."

I let out a sigh before Vulture flew at me with his talons extended. I pushed off the window and was in the middle of the air as Vulture did a sharp turn and flew straight into me. He was flying straight down to the ground, but I webbed a building and pulled us away. We were back up in the air before I punched him again. More blood rushed out his nose before I kicked him away. I pulled myself to the ledge of a building as I waited for Vulture to recover.

He soon did and flew straight at me. I leaned back before shooting a web at his chest and pulling him down to the ground. With him down, I did a flip and stood right on his wings before punching the metal plate on his back and ripped out a device that seemingly powered his hover abilities.

"Whoops. I think I broke your toy."

"Damn you! This was my pride and joy. You'll pay for this!"

"Put it on Osborn's tab."

I got off him as he quickly tried to get up and swipe at me with his wings. I flipped over his arm before webbing the back of his hand and pushing it against his back. I then did the same to his other hand, thereby subduing him.

"Curse you, Spider-Man! I'll have my revenge soon enough! Before Osborn, I'll get you! I promise you that!" Vulture said with a murderous look in his eyes.

"I hate to break it to you, man, but you're gonna be put away for a long time. Especially since you attacked a bigwig like Osborn. The dude has a whole NFL team worth of lawyers at the ready." I said while patting his bald head.

I tossed him over my shoulder and swung down to the police station to hand him over.

"Here you go, officers, one rare bird ready for ya!"

Soon, Osborn stepped out and glared at Vulture.

"Spider-Man, you were reckless in saving me." Norman said as he dusted off his suit. "But, I will not deny your efforts. Perhaps I can hire you to be my bodyguard."

"Damn, sounds like a sweet gig, but I'm not here to protect just one person. I'm here to protect the little guys of New York. That's why I call myself the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man."

He let out a small laugh.

"So be it. But, watch yourself, son. These strange people are popping out of nowhere. Who's to say you can stop them all and protect the people?"

"I'll be the one to say that. Anyway, everyone, I'm off. I still need to take my lunch break."

XXXXX

I was chilling on a bench, eating a hot dog. As people passed by me and waved. I checked my socials and saw that I managed to gain over 1k followers on both Instagram and Twitter in just a few hours. My post had seemingly made its rounds across the circles of the internet as everyone said "Hey" or "What's up?" To even, "KYS." That's the beauty of the internet for ya.

I finally got around to texting MJ back, and I guessed that May gave her my number, which MJ confirmed. We sent messages back and forth before I decided to turn in for the night.

I thanked the vendor for the hot dog before jumping into the air and swinging away.

I soon got home, and Aunt May held something behind her back.

"Whatcha got there, Aunt May?" I inquired.

"Oh, just your lovely prom tuxedo!" She exclaimed with joy.

She showed it off, and it was a really nice-looking tuxedo.

"Aunt May, this is amazing! Where did you find this?"

"I did a little thrift shopping." She said with a smile.

I couldn't help but smile back and pull her into a hug.

"Thank you, Aunt May."

"Mary Jane said she found herself a dress too. She'll be picking it up tomorrow. Then the day after will be prom. Oh, I'm so excited for you, (Y/n)!"

"Heh, I am too."

Flash and Harry aren't ready for MJ. Though, I should at least learn how to dance.

"Aunt May, could you teach me some dance moves?"

Aunt May set the tuxedo aside and smiled happily.

"I'd be glad to. I just know you're going to sweep MJ off her feet." She said with a nod of certainty.

"That's not what I'm trying to do. I'm just trying to make sure she has a good time."

"Trust me, (Y/n), if she's with you, then she's going to have a lovely time." Aunt May whispered.

"What?"

"Oh! Just thinking to myself. Now, hurry to the living room. Get your phone out so you can play some songs that Ben and I danced to back in the day."

I couldn't stop myself from smiling as I walked into the living room with her.

XXXXX

In MJ's house, she was lying on her bed just looking over her messages with (Y/n) as she carried a smile on her face. They were simple messages, but she had managed to bring up the topic of Spider-Man, and in her eyes, (Y/n) was a massive fan boy. They also had a conversation about MJ and her experience in acting, which ended up becoming a very thoughtful conversation to her.

She let out a sigh of relief before putting her phone up and looking out her window that peered into (Y/n)'s room. She watched him toss aside a backpack before he started to remove his shirt. He soon stopped for some reason before turning off his lights and dropping the blinds that peered into his room.

MJ couldn't help but let out a silent "Damn" before sighing and turning off her lights.

Until next time, readers!
