Chapter two of rewrite
Adamai groaned softly as he peeled his eyes open. His body hurt all over, like a dull ache, and there was sand was in his mouth. He slowly sat up, a bit dizzy, and quickly spit the sand out before rubbing his eyes and looking around. He was on a beach, and bits of their broken ship scattered around him.
"...what happened?" He muttered to himself, trying to remember just what had destroyed their boat.
He and yugo had been up in the crows-nest, sleeping. They'd eaten dinner, then went back to bed, then he woke up and....
Adamai gasped as it all came rushing back to him. The rain, the wind, the wall of water, him and Yugo falling out of the crows-nest and into the ocean. Yugo disappearing beneath the waves and not coming back up.
"Yugo." He muttered with wide eyes as a dose of anxiety coursed through him when he remembered his brother, he quickly stood up and scanned the area for him.
"YUGO!!" He called out, before changing into a tofu and flying high up into the air, trying to scan more of the surrounding area.
He couldn't see Yugo, which only worsened the growing anxiety, but he did see Eva. He zoomed over to were she was collapsed in the sand, transforming back into his natural form.
He quickly unburied her legs, which had been half stuck in the said, before trying to wake her up. "Eva, Eva wake up." Adamai said, shaking her shoulder.
The cra groaned, before prying her eyes open sluggishly.
"Uhg...wha... Adamai, where, where are the others?" She asked, her words slightly mumbled as she slowly sat up with another small groan.
"I don't know, you're the first person I found." He said as he worriedly played with his hands. "Do you think you can stand and walk?" He asked.
Eva nodded, and with the help of Adamai, managed to get to her feet and stay standing.
"Lets go look for everyone, they can't be that far." She said, before beginning the walk down the beach, Adamai quickly following.
-
Yugo groaned softly, slowly peeling his eyes open, only to quickly snap them closed as they were burned by the very bright sunshine. He felt something hard and rough underneath him, scraping his face, and freezing cold water sloshing around his waist, his legs fully submerged in the frigid water.
He opened his eyes again, slow this time to allow them to adjust to the brightness of the world, before looking around.
He was on a rock, well half on a rock, not too far out from an sandy beach -just a couple portal jumps. His head hurt, along with the rest of his body, but mostly just his head. He carefully dragged his soaked lower half up onto the rock.
The water around him was deep, and he didn't trust his body to be able to swim that far -at least not without taking breaks. It wasn't too far portal wise, but was decently far swimming wise.
He stood up, almost loosing balance and falling off the rock, before carefully righting himself. He wrung the water out of his hat before making a portal and jumping into it without a thought.
But the moment the popped out the other side, his body was hit with an intense feeling of nausea, and his headache increased tenfold. He just barely managed to make a portal beneath him, popping out the other side.
Maybe he should have tried his luck with swimming...
He continued to use his portals though, but the moment he was close enough to the beach he flung out one last portal and sent himself through, skidding across the sand on his way out. His head felt like someone was continuously hitting it with a hammer, his stomach felt like there was a whirl pool inside of it, and bile was crawling it's way up the back of his throat with sharp claws.
He curled up, hugging his stomach for a few minutes, before the pain began to ebb away, sighing softly in relief as the bile slid back down his throat, and his headache was reduced to a dull throb.
He carefully sat up, and shakily got to his feet, almost tipping backward before regaining his balance.
He felt a tugging at his clothes, and looked down to see Az poking his head out of his front pocket, before fluttering out and shaking like a bow-wow to get the water out of his feathers.
"Hey Az, I'm glad you're okay." He said, earning a happy chirp in response.
Yugo looked around him, trying to spot any of his friends.
"Hey Az, can you fly up there and tell me if you see anyone." He asked the tofu, who nodded rapidly, before quickly wizzing up into the sky.
Yugo stood for a moment, just looking up at the barely visible spec of yellow that was his friend, before growing bored. He looked around, and spotted a very large rock, half in the water and half on land. It was kinda steep, but the top of it looked flat enough to stand on.
Not wanting to use his portals until he was feeling better, he decided that climbing would work. If he managed to do that, than both he and Az could look, and two people looking is better than one right?
He was almost all the way up, when the rock he was holding came loose, breaking off, and sending him tumbling back down, him just barely managing to grab onto a ledge, and pull himself up. He groaned softly, his already aching body now having some new bruises and scrapes.
He looked down at the ground before back up towards the top of the rock and sighed before leaning against the stone. He carefully stood up on his ledge of stone, only to freeze when he felt the ledge shift. He quickly looked down at the stone, and watched as cracks began appearing.
"Oh no."
The ledge broke off, sending Yugo tumbling again, all the way to the bottom this time, where he rolled into a large mound of sand.
He groaned again as he crawled his way out of the sand, spitting out the bits that had gotten into his mouth before dusting the rest of the sand off of his face and body.
"Lets just-lets just sit...sit and wait." He muttered to himself as he held his head in his hands, trying to soothe his ever growing head ache.
-
Adamai and Eva eventually found Amalia, their friend having been laying tangled in a pile of seaweed. They two quickly woke her up and got her out, before quickly finding her doll not to far away -much to Amalia's relief.
They then went back to trying to find He others, although there wasn't much to go on.
"You don't think they went into the jungle do you?" Amalia asked, eyeing the dark, leering jungle wearily.
"Yugo, maybe; Dally, most likely; Ruel, eh, if there was treasure, then yes." Adamai said with a shrug.
"As one would expect from Ruel." Eva said with a frustrated sigh.
"My dear Evangeline, is that irritation I hear in your voice?"
The three turned around, and saw Ruel standing there, leaning on his shovel.
"I'm a little battered, but some little storm isn't going to kill me." He said.
"Of course Ruel." Amalia said, hands on her hips, although you could see the small relieved smile on her face.
"Have you seen Dally or Yugo?" Adamai asked.
"Nope, I can't say that I have." Ruel said, rubbing his beard thoughtfully.
Adamai sighed softly as his shoulders slumped.
"Don't worry Adamai, I'm sure they're fine." Eva reassured, putting a hand on the young dragons shoulder.
Adamai nodded, and opened his mouth to speak, but a soft whistling sound stopped him. Apparently the others heard it to, all of them looking around to try and see what was making the sound.
Adamai caught a glimpse of yellow, before something smacked into him at a great speed, knocking him over.
"Az!" He said in surprise before quickly picking the Tofu up.
Az chirped, fluffing his feathers with a shake, before looking up at Adami.
"Do you know where yugo is?" He asked.
Az nodded rapidly, and flew out of Adamai's hands, flying in the direction they had been walking, gesturing, as well as the little bird could, for them to follow.
-
Yugo, now leaning against the rock he'd been trying to find before, was doing a bit better. It didn't feel like his head was being used as an anvil anymore, but the sun had begun to hurt his eyes again, so he'd pulled his hat down to cover his face for the time being -which is why he didn't notice a figure running towards him.
"Yugo!" A familiar voice shouted, accompanied by the sound of pounding footsteps.
Yugo pushes his hat up and squinted at the person as he carefully stood. "Dally?"
It was dally, he quickly learned, as the Iop came to a skidding stop in front of him.
"I can't believe I finally found someone," dally said with a bright grin. "I've been looking all over the place for you and the others."
"How long have you been looking for?" Yugo asked as he returned his friends' smile.
"Oh, well, for a few minutes, but I guess that's not a lot of looking now is it." He said, a bit sheepishly.
"That's alright dally, how about we go look for them now?"
"Great idea Yugo, lets go!" Dally said, before charging down the beach.
Yugo smiled, and ran after him; glad that his head was feeling better.
-
Adamai, Eva, Amalia, and Ruel followed Az as he flew down the beach, leading them to Yugo.
"Is he okay?" Adamai asked as he walked next to the Tofu.
Az chirped, and tilted from side to side with a slightly unsure expression.
"So, he's kinda okay, but also kinda not okay."
Az nodded with a chirp.
The little tofu continued to lead them down the beach, when adamai saw to figures walking in the distance.
"Hey look! Its Yugo and Dally!" He yelled, before rushing ahead of them, only Az keeping up with him.
Adamai all but tackled yugo with a hug the moment he was in reach, pulling away a second later to look his twin over for injuries.
"Are you alright, Az said you we mostly okay, but-" he was cut off by yugo laughing.
"I'm fine Ad, just a few scrapes and bruises." He reassured with a smile."but what about you and the others? are you guys okay?"
"Just a little banged up, but nothing to bad." Adamai said dismissively as he smiled back at him.
The other three then finally caught up to Az and Adamai, panting softly while also looking relieved.
"Yugo, dally, where have the two of you been?" Eva asked as she looked between the two of them for any injuries besides scrapes and bruises.
"Down the beach." Dally said, pointing behind him."I found yugo sitting on some giant rocks waiting for Az, and we decided to come find you guys ourselves!"he said proudly with a giant grin that could rival the suns brightest sunshine.
They quickly caught each other up on what had happened and made sure no one was injured too bad, before addressing their problem.
"Well, now that we're all back together again, what are we going to do? we have no ship." Ruel grumbled, hoisting the head of his shovel over his shoulder, his other hand on his hip.
"Maybe there are people here who could help us." Yugo suggested.
"Yeah, we could check the forest." Dally said brightly, pointing at the ominous looking jungle not even ten feet away.
Amalia cringed, taking a step away from the woods."but it looks so, icky." She said in slight disgust.
"But, its a forest I thought you liked tree's."
"Yugo, that is a jungle not a forest. Jungles are unpredictable and have big snakes, spiders, and lots of other gross things. Forests are calm, with soft moss, flowers, and butterflies." She explained, internally groaning as she practically saw yugo, dally, and adamai's curiosity perk up at her explanation, probably at the possibility of adventure.
"But, there are some flowers, right here." Dally said, walking over to the edge of the jungle, leaning down to pick a brightly colored flower, but amalia rushed over and grabbed his wrist before he could.
"Are you crazy, that could be poisonous!"
"Oh come on amalia, how bad could the jungle be." Eva said, as she and the others began to walking into the jungle.
"Fine! But if we get poisoned by something and either get sick or die don't be surprised if I say I told you so!" She yelled as she ran in after them, cautions to not touch anything that looked dangerous or icky.
