Chapter 12: Demerits, Please
Your POV
I walked around with Marty for a bit as I thought about how we could get demerits. We stopped to talk to a very calm and very unsettling Biff. He was talking about how he enrolled in the citizen plus program and how everything he used to do, he couldn't even if he tried.
PDA? He couldn't do that. Drink? That was off the table. Own a lot of dogs? No way. I looked to Marty and then looked to a golf cart that rolled up with his mom on it. He went to talk to her while I stayed and talked to Biff. He told me that he got this fancy watch when he finished the program but he can't set the time.
I caught up with Marty and she said she was going to do her monthly duty and polish the statue in the time square. She gave him a time sheet that told George of her whereabouts and she wanted us to give it to him. We grabbed the cart and went to go over to Marty's house where we were met with George, in front of a lot of monitors where he said he did his civic duty to spy on other people that weren't happy with the government.
We couldn't get into the house since there were dust mites. Who would have thought that a crazy alternate reality would have everyone as clean freaks? I shook my head and saw Marty's guitar. I nudged him and he went to pick it up while I gave the sheet to his dad. His dad checked the camera at the statue and saw that Lorraine was there as she was polishing the statue. He told us about how she had been caught drinking a couple of times and that he was worried about her.
"We'll get the proof that she's drinking," I said and Marty nodded. We went back to town square where she was and started talking to her. This proved difficult since George was watching on the cameras. I looked to the Statue and noticed that it could spin. "Marty, push that side of the statue." I said and he did as it spun. It blocked the camera and we got Lorraine to cough up the flask that she had and she handed it over after we fixed the statue and I looked at Marty.
"There's the booze, how can we get the dog and the PDA demerit?" I asked. He thought for a moment before we saw Jen go around the corner with an ammo box of something. We walked over to a small store where we saw Leech running the SoupMo store. He talked about a dog that keeps taking the new free samples that he got so he has to keep them inside the window.
We got one and I stuck my tongue out at it as it smelled terrible. "Gross is right" I said and he nodded. We saw a dog that resembled Einstein run by with a muzzle and we followed into the alleyway where we saw it run up the plank by Jen and into the back area. We followed only for him to run off again and I sighed.
I grabbed the blue spray can and sprayed the plank and then walked out of the alley with Marty as he ran back over the paint. We followed the prints to where he was hiding and I took the muzzle off before we gave him the sample where he wagged his tail at us. I rubbed his ears and smiled. "At least someone is normal here." We walked around the building with him where Edna was and I smirked as I looked at the dog.
"Get her boy" I said and he ran at her as he barked. She screeched and then gave us a demerit. I looked at Marty and smiled "let's get the PDA one next, but you need to do that."I said and he nodded before he walked over to Jen and asked to play head to head against Leech. They played their guitars as Leech knocked over his amp and then fell into the trash as he was on the platform. I giggled and noticed that Marty and Jen went into the SoupMo store and I leaned against the side of the wall where Edna was still yelling about the dog.
I slid the door open to show Marty and Jen and she screeched again. I shook my head and rolled my eyes as I listened to her write him a demerit and walk off with a huff. I looked to Marty and chuckled. "I really don't like her" I said.
He shook his head and shuddered. "And Doc has known her forever." he said.
"Heavy" he nodded and we left the SoupMo to talk to Parker. He gave us another Demerit and Edna walked over, where she sent us to see Citizen brown. Which was what we wanted. We were thrown into his office and I looked up to see the shoes of none other than Doc. I stood up slowly and looked at Marty before he put his arms behind his back.
"You two have gone out of your way to see me."
