Chapter 84 ~ I'd Jump From Your Ego To Rock Bottom

  Brianna's POV

Emily ended up buying me the jacket. "No, I insist!" I say, shoving my money at her.

"No! I'm paying for you!" Emily protests and bends her card to the cashier.

"Cmon! Oh, forget it!" I throw my hands up in defeat.

"Yes! Point Emily!" I roll my eyes and cross my arms over my chest. As she etched the cashier put the jacket in a bag, I take Emily's wallet out of her purse and shove my twenty dollars in it. "Ha!" I yell in triumph. She looks down at her wallet.

"Dang it!" she yells. "I always get my way though! Go poo yourself! Go kill yourself!"

"Huh, morbid, aren't we, there, Emily? And if I wanted to kill myself I'd jump from your ego to rock bottom." I stick my tongue out and take the shopping bag with my prized jacket.

"Haha, very funny. Let's go to the food court now, I'm hungry."

She drags me out the store. We head down the mall, walking by stores with bustling people, and crying babies in strollers, because those are always fun for people who came to shop!

We finally get to the food court. It's about 10 minutes until I'm supposed to meet mom here, so I'll just stay here with Emily the rest of the time.

"My mom's gonna be hear soon," I tell Emily, "You can just order something and we can wait here for her."

"Kay!" she says and walks off to buy her food. "Want anything?" she asks, turning around midstep.

I shake my head. "No thanks, already ate."

  "Ooh, polite one I see!"

"What, you want me to change what I said? Heck nah, bro! Now get you dirty little butt away from my precious face!"

"Better!" Emily grins and walks rushes over to buy her food. Might as well text someone while waiting. I choose the group chat because why the heck not?

[email protected]: Heyyyyyyy

Walter is the first to reply.

[email protected]: Are you drunk or something?

[email protected]: Pfffft, noooooo

Might as well keep up this drunk act.

[email protected]: Suuuuure

[email protected]: Heyyyyy I'm here tooooo

[email protected]: Ok, Heather is the one that's drunk

[email protected]: What do you mean I'm dru- IsjdjsqjjdidWjdhsiausjcJdjdjaja

[email protected]: I think Heather face planted into her phone

Jade_Don'[email protected]: Yeah, I'm right next to her and she some how got drunk off the helium in her balloons she bought at the store earlier.

Jade sent an image.

I literally burst out laughing. I received a few stares from people around me. I couldn't help it though; drunk Heather is HILARIOUS! Trust me, you'd be dying of laughter if you saw this too.

"The fabulous me is back!" I hear someone yell as they plop a tray full of Chinese food on the table.

"That's nice," I say to Emily, not looking up from my phone.

"Who you texting?" she asks, perking her head to try and look at what I was typing. I quickly moved my phone away.

"No one," I lied, and continued to type.

"Aww, cmon, you can tell me! It can't be that bad? Is it your boyfriiiiiiiend?" she wriggles her eyebrows up and down.

"Eew! And no! I'm a single Pringle that's ready to mingle!" I flick my dark brown hair behind me back in an attempt to look sassy, but it had other plans. It's so long it just smacked me in the other side of my face. Ouch. I need a haircut. Emily bursts into laughter.

"Oh, shut up and eat your food," I say, and continue texting.

"Bri? Bri where are you?" I hear my mom call.

"I'm right over here!" I call in the bustling food court.

"Bri?"

"I'm right here mom!" I wave my hands aggressively above my head.

"Brianna? Where are you?"

"Forget it," I mutter. "I'll be right back," I say to Emily. I shove my phone in my back pocket and jog over to my mom.

"Oh, Bri! I was looking all over for you!" she says as she pulls me into a hug.

"Mom, it's only been an hour since we last saw each other."

"Oh, I know," she says, stroking my head.

"Emily wants to say hi to you."

"Who's Emily?" she asks, completely clueless.

"You know," I trail off. I wave my hands in circle to give mom her queue.

"Oh! That Emily! Yeah, let's go!" She scurries along in the opposite direction of where Emily was.

"Mom, she's this way!" I call.

"Right, I knew that. I just wanted to... Check the menu of that new restaurant," she lies.

"Mom, that was the first place we went to when this mall opened."

"Oh, shh..." She hushes me as we go back to our table.

"Hey Emily!" my mom greets and hugs her.

"Hi, Mrs. Myers," she says and hugs back.

"No need to be so formal, Hun. Just call me Melanie. Mrs. Myers makes me sound old."

  "Ok, Melanie," Emily says.

"Better. Actually, just call me Mel, you know, so I can stay hip with the cool kids yo!"

  Internal and external face palm.

"Oh, was it too early?" my mom asks me.

"Just look at her face! You scared the living daylight out of her!" I say and point at Emily who looks like she's just seen a ghost in her mirror or something.

  "Oh, sorry Hun," mom apologizes.

"I should get going," she says, "Mom needs me to pick her up from the grocery store. Nice seeing you, Bri, Mel." She nods at us before quickly grabbing her bag and fast walking away.

"You can come over and stay the night later if you want!" my mom calls back.

"I'll text Bri!" I hear her call from the other side of the food court.

"Did I mess up?" my mom asks.

  "Yeah, quite a lot too."

"Let's go home now," my mom suggests, "Got some paperwork to do."

  "Ok," I say, "ok."
