Chapter 6 ~ Sorry, Bri

Brianna's POV

I woke up and did my usual rituals. My brother went to a party last night, so he isn't home. He's probably passed out on someone's living room floor though...

I heard my phone go off. I read the text message on the screen.

We need to talk, Bri. Meet me at our usual table at school this morning.

- Bailey

Oh god. What ever could've happened now?

(cue music) I put on "Pompeii" nightcore on my phone and put it on my speaker. Quite a sad story, but the music is great! No one was home, still, so I could play it as loud as I wanted.

I decided to wear the outfit I had bought- well Jade bought it but with my money- yesterday. I showered last night, so I didn't need to shower today.

I took my phone off the speaker, put on headphones so I could continue my song, and walked downstairs. I took an apple from the fruit bowl on the dining table and walked out of the door with my backpack, grabbing the house keys, along with the bribing money.

And the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills bringing darkness from above

As the song ended, I reached school, and took of my headphones. I saw Bailey hanging out with the populars. What is she doing with them? I walked over to her. I saw Jack and Collin with her too. "Uhh... Hey guys," I say. "Sup," Collin and Jack say. "Hey Bri," Bailey says. "So, what exactly is happening here?" I ask.

Bailey looks around. "Why is what happening here?"

"Why you're hanging with the populars."

"I..uhh," she stutters, "Noreasonnoreasonatall."

"You're jumbling your words again, Bailey."

"No reason, no reason at all."

"Right..." I gave Bailey a death glare and she finally gave up.

"Ugh! Fine! We joined the popular group," she confessed.

My jaw dropped again. "Well, if we're confessing things now, I joined the rebels of our school," I say pointing at what I'm wearing and how I wore a little more make up than usual.

"Wow," she said, "Bri the Rebel. Kind of has a ring to it, don't you think?"

"Stop getting off topic! I'm still pretty ticked off that you joined the popular group. Geez, how much did I miss yesterday when I was at detention? I'm just gonna go now," I say walking away.

Bailey grasp my wrist. "Sorry, Bri." She sounds so sarcastic.

~•~Le magical time skip to lunch~•~

I walk over to my usual lunch table. No one is there, so I just sat by myself. I was looking down, picking at my leftovers from last night. "Brianna," I hear a voice say. I look up and to my surprise I see Adelaide.

How wonderful.

"Oh hey, Adelaide."

"You look different today."

"Umm... Thanks? I guess."

"But your eyeliner is crooked. Buh bye now!" And with that she trotted along back to the popular table. I saw Bailey, Jack, and Collin there. Bailey gave me a slight wave, but I just looked back down and continued eating.

About five minutes past when I heard yet another voice, "Hey, Brianna."

I've had enough with people interrupting my lunch. "What is it!" I looked up and saw Heather. "Oh, hey Heather."

"We don't usually make an appearance in the cafeteria, but you looked lonely, so we came to sit with you."

"Wait, we?" The rest of the group came along and sat at my table. Great. More people.

"I see you wore the outfit I bought you today," Jade says to me.

"Actually, it was my money," I object.

"But I put the clothes on the counter."

"True..."

"Hey, Bri?" she asks.

"Yeah, Jade?"

"Why are you sitting alone and not with your friends?"

"Well, you did say not to hang out with them, right?"

"Well, yeah, but knowing you, you would still hang out with them."

I sighed. She knew me too well. "Theyjoinedthepopulars."

"What? You're squishing your words together."

"I said that they joined the populars," I admit, "Quite the friends, huh?"

They all gave me sympathetic looks. "Well, how about this. Everyone is coming to my house tonight, so wanna come?" Jade invited me to a party. I don't really like parties though. The last party I went to was my cousin's birthday party.

"No thanks, I'm not a party person."

"Well, it's not a party. More like a get together."

"Sure, I guess. I have nothing else better to do..."

"Great! I'll text you the address. See you then, Bri." And with that they all left me alone yet again.
