Chapter 43 ~ Say Cheese
Brianna's POV
It's Thursday, and I'm so so excited about the field trip! I've already done most of my packing now, I just need to pack my clothes and I'll be ready to hit the road! I've never been on a plane before. Unless we're taking a bus or something. Or maybe a coach? I don't know! We'll just have to find out.
I'm walking down the C-Hall now. I guess people still aren't used to me being all rebellious and stuff, because some I'm them are just staring at me. I reach my locker and put in the code. I remove the lock and take my books out of my locker. My locker is a hot mess. Seriously, for some reason, it's really warm in there. I see knee pads from when I took soccer in my freshman year. I have pictures of my new friends on the locker door. I have them all pins down on a cork board in one thick stack. I pull each one back one by one. Oh, there's one of use at the Jade's house when we played truth or dare that one time. Oh, and there's us drawing with Sharpie on Walter's face when he passed out in the car on the way back from Jack's party that we crashed. And here's another one form the water park. And here's one from the science fair. I flip to the very last one which is of me, Bailey, Jack, and Collin. It was my 17th birthday when we took that photo. We were at a park near our house. We were all lying down on a hilly slope facing up. I was between Bailey and Jack who had their heads in the crooks of my neck, and Collin was on the other side with his head nuzzled in the crook of Jack's neck. We were all smiling and being regular teenagers. Bailey still had her braces in. She got them off last summer break. Jack's hair was a little damp for some reason too. I remember it like it was yesterday.
(My italics aren't working for some reason, so the flashback is going to be in bold letters. Deal with it.)
"Bri, come on!" Bailey was pulling me out of my house.
"I don't want to leave my house! I'm totally happy with watching all seasons of Breaking Bad this weekend. Come on, you and everyone else can join us too! No one's home too. We can have a popcorn buffet!" I was jumping up and down praying she would agree to my silly idea.
"No!" she said. "We're going to the park. You've been in here since the three day weekend started! Let's go!"
We get to the park and Jack and Collin were already there waiting at the front gate. "I didn't know that THEY were going to be here," I say.
"Well hello to you too," Collin says, picking up a small pebble from the ground and throwing it at me.
"Hey! That's not how you treat someone on their birthday!" I give him puppy eyes and a pity lip.
"Ugh, fine. Let's go do something now. Something mature..." We all sit in silence for a few moments.
"Oh! I got it!" Jack says.
"Let's hear what you got," Bailey says tapping her foot up and down. He was silent for a few seconds until he suddenly jabs my shoulder and yells, "TAG YOU'RE IT!" He makes a run for it.
"You are SO dead!" I call after him and start running as well. Good thing I wore my running shoes. I honestly have no idea where he went to. But I ended up tagging him by the pond. I may or may not have tagged him to hard making him fall in the water because I pushed him. Whoops!
He came back to the park after awhile with new clean clothes. He gave me a death glare and we all went to a peaceful looking green slope to lie down and talk. I ended up lying in between Bailey and Jack with Walter next to him.
"We absolutely positively HAVE to take a picture of this!" Bailey exclaims and takes out her phone. She hands the device with her neon pink case to me. "Here, you take it."
I dial in her password and launch her camera app. What? Best friends should know each other's phone numbers in case of an emergency, right? Like, why if I was about to be poked by a very large stick by a guy who demanded pizza? Then Bailey could take my phone and call the pizza place- which I had on speed dial.
"Say cheese!" I adjust the camera so that it looked somewhat presentable. Bailey and Jack both put their heads in the crooks of my neck and I saw Collin do the same with Jack's neck. Wasn't it adorable? I clicked the button and handed Bailey back her phone.
"Eek! This is SO going on my Instagram." She turns her back so that she isn't facing me anymore and starts typing her caption for the photo.
"Will you ever give up posting a photo on your Instagram?" I ask poking her in the side.
"Nope!" She pops the 'p' and continues to type her caption.
Hey guys! So I wasn't sure how I was going to do the author's note with the flashback being bold, so it's goin to be underlined for now :3. Yay for longer chapter! It's been a while since I've done one. I decided to do a little sweet moment I guess you could call it. See ya all in the next chapter!
Till then,
~Orchid
