Chapter 33 ~ Actually Steve Harvey
Brianna's POV
It's Friday. One week after we crashed Adelaide's big party. Ha, the look on her face was priceless. I wonder if they're still together or not. Oh well, that's not the point. The point is that I'm in math with nothing to do. I decide to doodle a little, so I reach down to get my backpack, open it up, and take out my binder. I place my binder on the table and clicked open the rings. It must've been pretty loud, because everyone was looking at me. I quickly took a piece of paper out and closed the rings back together.
After putting my binder away, I pick up my pencil and start drawing eyes. What? Eyes deserve to be drawn too. It doesn't always have to be stick people, or smiley faces.
I draw a few eyes, when Mr. Neil says, "I'll be collecting your worksheets now." Wait... WORKSHEETS?! I look around my desk and find two blank worksheets at the edge of my table. Well, I'm done for.
I take the two sheets and start writing as fast as I can. "Ahem..." Someone clears their throat in front of my desk. I look up and Mr. Neil is staring down at me. "Your papers, Ms. Myers?" He gestures towards the worksheets that are clutched in my fists.
"Oh- oh yeah. H-here." I hold the papers out in my hand a little for him to take. He grabs it quickly and walks to the next desk.
*************
I sit my backpack down on the floor and take a seat at the lunch table. I take out my ham and cheese sandwich from my backpack an start eating. Soon, the whole group is seating with me. "So," Jade says, "I hear that the principal is going to announce the top three best science project on the speakers towards the end of lunch. Winners get to compete with their project at the county science fair."
"Cool," we all say at the same time. I take a piece of ham out of my sandwich and wave it in front of Heather's face. She's a vegetarian. "Want some?" I ask, waving the mustard covered slab of meat in front of her face.
"Eew! No!" she squirms and slaps it away with the back of her plastic fork.
"Haha." I laugh and stuff the ham into my mouth, licking my fingers afterwards.
"You're disgusting," Heather says, throwing a piece of her ranch dressing drenched salad at me. Great. Now I'm gonna smell like Ranch for the rest of the day. "Oops," she says and snickers a little.
"You're no better than your sister," I say and take Katelyn's napkin to try and wipe as much ranch as I am out of my hair.
"Please excuse this interruption. Arcadia High (Arcadia... Life is strange? Yah? Nah? Ok, on with the story) students, this is your principal, Mrs. Hope, and I will be announcing our senior science fair winners. Winners will go to the county science fair this Sunday," the loudspeaker booms. "In third place, Foxx, Katelyn, and Douglas, Christopher." Our table claps. Katelyn looks proud and Chris is just looking down. "Told you that rock music would work," Katelyn says and nudges him in the shoulder. He mumbles something and the loudspeaker comes back on. "In first place." The speaker stops. What? Who's in first place?
About five minutes past when the loudspeaker says, "Sorry, students. We had a malfunction in our office. That's your fault, Linda!" The cafeteria let's out a few laughs. Linda was always sleeping on the job anyways. She's the vice principal of Arcadia High. "Anyways, in first place is Jenkins, Adelaide, and Chambers, Gregory." Oh, so they got back together huh? No more Jack, I guess? The whole cafeteria erupts into cheers, except for our table. We kept quiet and continued eating our meals. Adelaide stands on top of the popular table and waves to everyone. What is this, a Miss Universe contest? Let's just hope that Mrs. Hope is actually Steve Harvey and that the partners in second place are actually the top winners.
"And in second place," the loudspeaker says after everyone finishes their cheers, "Myers, Brianna, and Hughes, Jade. Winners, please meet in the front office after school for further information. And remember, go go flamingos!" The loudspeaker cuts off and we're left in science.
"Yeah! WOOOO!" Everyone at our table screams. Everyone else in the room keeps quiet and just stares at us. Who cares? It's worth it. We came in the top three for the freaking science fair!
(No author's note) See ya all in the next chapter!
Till then,
