Brianna's POV

  The next day after school, I was sitting at my desk doing math homework. My phone started ringing from the other side of the room. I dropped my pencil and pushed out my chair. I looked at the caller ID on my phone. It said 'unknown caller'. Might as well answer it because why the heck not? "Hello?" I asked.

  "Hey, Brianna!" a high pitched feminine voice called.

  "Sorry, but, who are you?" I ask walking back to my desk.

  "Oh, it's Emily."

  "Emily..." It sounded so familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it.

  "Evans. Emily Evans. You know, your mom's second cousin's older sister's mom's brother's granddaughter?" Oh! That Emily! "We met when we were five."

"Oh! Emily! That's really you?"

"Yup! And I was wondering if you wanted to meet at that new coffee place in town. Let's see... What's it called?" I could hear her tapping her foot through the phone.

"The Coffee Crown?"

"Yeah!" She snaps her fingers. "That's the place."

"Sure, I can be there in about 45 minutes. I have some homework to finish, and I should probably try to look presentable." I laugh and she joins in.

"Haha, ok, see you then, Brianna!" The line goes dead. I'm going to need to ask her to call be Bri.

I finish my homework awhile later, and I go to my closet. Let's see, first impression clothes. I should wear come thing colorful, but not to bright. I don't wanna look like a unicorn threw up on me. I finally decide on a lace pink blouse and denim shorts, along with a few bracelets and gold colored earrings. To finish it off, I wear my summer sandals.

Once I'm finally ready, I walk downstairs with a handbag I found lying for around my room. I don't know when I got it, but the point is that I have it. My mom and Will are sitting on the couch watching a movie. "I'm going out to meet up with Emily," I say while taking my house keys off the countertop.

My mom turns around. "Which Emily?"

"You know, your second cousin's sister's mom's brother's granddaughter?"

"Oh! Emily Evans, right?"

"Yup."

"Ok, have fun, be careful, and don't get drunk." She turns around and continues to watch the movie with Will.

"We're just going to that new coffee house in town." I put some spare money I found in the kitchen drawers in my pocket.

"The Coffee Crown?"

"Right again. Bye mom, bye Will." I walk out of the house and lock the door behind me.
