Chapter 29 ~ Kid At Heart

Brianna's POV

I open the front door and my mom, Will, and my dad are talking in the kitchen. "Dad!" I drop my bag on the floor, run up to him, and give him a big hug.

"Hey," he says, hugging me back, "Happy Birthday, Brianna."

"Thanks dad," I say.

"Do you have a lot of homework?"

"No," I reply, "Just a few problems for math, a worksheet for English, and notes for History."

"Good, because we're going out to eat."

My eyes light up. "Really?" We rarely get to eat out, so this was really a treat.

"Yup. You're favorite restaurant too. Olive Grove, right?" Wait, REALLY? Olive Grove is my favorite restaurant (haha, spinoff of Olive Garden). It has the best breadsticks. Italian food is the bomb. Not really a real bomb but you get the point.

"Really?! Thanks so much!" I say hugging him back. This is officially the best birthday ever. Except for that one part in the cafeteria. Let's forget that ever happened.

**************

After finishing most of my homework, I pick an outfit to go to Olive Grove. I sped about 17.5 minutes staring at my closet. It's not very big, but I've managed to stuff a lot of clothes in it. Most of it was black and grey, but I still kept some of my old clothes in case I went out without the group.

I finally decide on a light blue dress and with a thin yellow belt (refer to picture).

After changing, I put on my Converse and found a black purse in my closet. Hey! Don't judge. Just because I wear a dress doesn't mean I have to wear heels or something like that. I have human rights too!!

*************

  "Ready to go?"

I nod my head and follow dad out the door. We're taking his car to Olive Grove. We rarely ever use it. Will has a car but it's back in New York, my mom has her own car, and I don't even have a car, so dad's car is usually in the garage for when he comes back.

I sat down and buckled my seatbelt. Soon, everyone got settled in as well and dad started the car.

It doesn't take long to get to Olive Grove, but it does take quite some time. "So," I say trying to break the awkward silence, "How was Jamaica, dad?"

"It was great!" He says while taking a right turn. "I mean, it is Jamaica, right mun!" I laugh to his poor impression. "Sorry for the bad accent. It's all I got," he chuckles and stops at the red light.

~•~Le time skip brought to you by people who take off their shoes because their type of footwear are not suitable for a class. Plus, they run a lap around a rocky track in only their socks! Have pity for their corrupted minds~•~

"BREADSTICKS!" I reach to the center of the table for the breadsticks. Everyone around our area stares at us. "Oops," I say before taking a bite of my breadstick. Will looks at me funny. "What?" I say, "You can't deny that these are really good!" I wave one in front of him. He takes it and says, "Fine," before taking a bite out of one.

I ordered a Linguini and when our food came, I almost choked on it because I was eating so fast. "You're going to choke if you eat too fast, Bri," my mom says.

"I know," I say, "I can't help it though. It's so good and I'm so hungry." I take another mouthful of the delicious pasta.

************

"Thanks for dinner, dad," I say once we get into the car.

"No problem," he says turning the engine on.

"Do you really have to leave in the morning?"

He turns around in his seat. "I'm afraid to say so. But I'll be back soon. The meetings will only be a few days."

"Ok," I say sitting back in my seat. I couldn't help but realize how much dad and Will look alike. Same dark brown hair and blue eyes. I however have my mom's eyes, hazel, and my grandmother's hair, a light brown.

************

The first thin Will does when we get home is turn on the tv. "Seriously? You can't even survive 2 or 3 hours without tv?" I ask.

"What? There's a new episode of SpongeBob SquarePants that I missed while we were gone."

  "Isn't that a kids show?"

"You're never too old to enjoy a classic. What can I say? I'm a kid at heart."

"Act like one, and sound like one." I step closer to him and immediately step back. "And apparently you smell like one too! When was the last time you showered?" I plug my nose with my diners and wave my free hand back and forth.

"Hmm..." He says lifting a finger up one at a time and counting. "About two weeks ago."

  "Eew! You're a disgusting pig!"

"Yeah, but you still love me."

"I'm forced to because you're my brother. Go take a shower now!"

"Ugh, fine mom." He gets up and walks upstairs.

"Don't you give me that attitude young man!" I say pretending to act like an adult. We have the best brother sister relationship, huh?

Hey guys! Longer chapter! Yay! Hopefully this makes up for the shorter ones. Olive Grove is a spinoff of Olive Garden. Get it? No? Ok, I'll just show myself out. See ya all in the next chapter!

Till then,
