Chapter 22 ~ Crouching Tiger Hidden Bri

  Brianna's POV

Jade parks down the street from Adelaide's house, a few houses away. I open the car door and get out. Heather, Jade, and I didn't talk on the way there. The front of my high heel gets caught in a crack in the side walk and I stumble over on the ground. Heather and Jade both start laughing. A few people from across the street and staring at me. Great. "This," I say while attempting to get up, "This never happened, got it?"

"Sure..." Jade trails off. "You gonna get up or what? We don't have all day, you know."

"Oh yeah," I say standing up from my spot on the ground.

"Oh yeah," she mocks, her voice a few pitches higher than usual. I didn't sound like that, do I?

When we get to the house, everyone is already outside. "Why are you so late?" Katelyn asks, looking up from her phone. "

"Nothing!" I say, a little to loud. Heather tried to hold back a laugh and Jade covers her mouth with her hand to stop herself from laughing to. "I mean," I say, "no reason."

"Right..." Katelyn says, paying attention to her phone again.

"Anyways," Jade says, "The party?" She motions towards the door.

"Right," we say and walk in.

"We all know the plan right?" Jade asks.

We all nod our heads. "Great. SPREAD OUT!"

I search around the house for Adelaide. I check the kitchen, the bathroom - don't ask, and the backyard. I decided to dry the basement next. There was a door behind a set of stairs leading there. I opened the door and walked down. All the lights were on, but there was just something about it. Once I got to ground level, I looked around. I saw shelves filled with old things, old dolls, baby clothes, Christmas decorations. The basement was creepy. No one was down there, but the thing down there scared the heck out of me. It looked like some sort of... Shrine (Aphmau reference!)? Umm... Never mind. I walk back up the stairs and close the door behind me. I am never going down there again. Not that I was planning to anyway...

Have I mentioned how big Adelaide's house is? My house is a speck compared to hers. I mean, two stories is pretty big right? Not if you've seen her house. Wow...

I eventually find Adelaide in the living room with Jack. Why is everyone always in the living room? I watch them talk from around the corner. I, Brianna Myers, am the ultimate stalker. Well, not ultimate but you get the point. Might as well call me Crouching Tiger Hidden Bri.

After a few minutes of ten chatting away, got really bored. But, as if on cue, Jack leaves Adelaide to go somewhere else - probably to the kitchen to grab a drink or something. I walk over to Adelaide, when I'm yet again stopped by a guy. Why does this always happen to me? "Are you a bank loan? Cause you've got my interest," he says. Cheesy, but he's drunk. Ain't no body wanna mess with me *cue sassy Bri*! I push him away and continue to walk towards Adelaide. I tap her on the shoulder. She turns around from talking to one of her friends. "Bri!" She says pulling me into a hug. Since when was she friendly? "I didn't think you could make it tonight! Wow," she look at my dress, "Someone's looking nice for tonight."

  "Uhh..." I mumble, "Thanks...?"

"No problem. Was there something you wanted to tell me?"

"Oh!" I say. I totally forgot about the plan. "Yeah, follow me."

"Sure!" I bring her around the house looking for the room with the pool. I don't actually know where it is, but we'll just see how my wandering goes. I eventually find the room and I see Jade, Shawn, Heather, and Collin in the corner of the room. The room is pretty big too. Katelyn is trying to make a conversation with Jack. Chris is sitting on one of the pool chairs pretending to be looking at his phone. I stand in a way so that Adelaide can't see Jack talking with Katelyn. I just have to wait until Chris pushes Jack in the pool. Conversation time... "So," I say awkwardly, "How's life?" Seriously, Bri? And the award for most awkward conversation starter goes too... Bri and her totally unprepared conversation with the girl that's boyfriend is about to be pushed in the pool!

"It's good, I guess." She says. Ok, quick! Think of something to say!

"Hey, do you know my mom's second cousin's sister's mom's brother's granddaughter?" That was equally as stupid.

"Could you repeat that?" She asks and I repeat what I just said. "Is that Emily?" How did she know who Emily was?

"Yeah," I say, "which Emily?" This was getting even more creepy.

"Emily Evans?" Stalker alert! She was right.

"Never mind..." I say. "How do you know though?"

"Oh, Bailey has told me all about her. She's the one who's friends with a guy that knows a guy that is married to a girl that's mom is a doctor who has a patient that's cousins with another guy that knows a drug dealer."

Wow. She knew everything. "Ooook then..."

I see Chris stand up and approach behind Jack. I move away from my position so that Adelaide can see what's going on. "Hey, what's happening?" she asks, obviously confused.

"Chris, now!" Jade yells from the corner. She runs towards the side of the pool that they're on while Chris shoves him in. Jade is jumping up and down next to Katelyn screaming, "That's what you get you son of a-!"

"Mother," I interrupt. "Jade was about to say 'son of a mother.' Isn't that right, Jade?"

She mumbles cuss words under her breath. "Whatever you wanna think..."

"What is this about?" Adelaide says. "And why are you still in the water? Are you stupid?" She looks at Jack.

"That's what I said!!" Jade says.

"Hey! I'm not that dumb!" Jack objects.

"Then why are you still in the water?!" Jade questions.

"It's heated," he says.

"Is it, Adelaide?" She looks towards Adelaide.

"Well," she says, "I wasn't planning on anyone coming in here tonight, so no, not right now."

"Ha!" Jade says.

"I believe what I think!" Jack says, still floating.

"Get out of the flipping water, Jack!" I say.

He finally gets out and I push him back in. "That's what you get for being such a butthat." He falls in again with a big splash.

Our whole group walks away except for Heather, leaving her, Jack, and Adelaide behind. I stop before we exit the door while the rest walk out to enjoy the rest of the party. I overhear Adelaide and Heather talking. I stay hidden behind the corner watching them talk. How to be a stalker 101. Brought to you by Brianna Myers. Step 1) take me as an example. Thank you for reading, how to be a stalker 101.

"How could you do this, Heather?" Adelaide says.

"Well, sorry! It was Jade's idea. I don't see why you're surprised, Adelaide. We've done this before, you know."

"But you're my sister!"

"Yeah, but your boyfriend is such the butt face!"

"I'm right here you know!" Jack says from the water.

"Get out of the water!" They both say.

I walk away dumbfounded. Heather is Adelaide's sister? Heather lives here? What even is life anymore?!?

Hey guys! Really long chapter, I know. But it's a really important one sooooo YEAH! See ya all in the next chapter!

Till then,
