Brianna's POV

  We all meet in front of Jade's house yet again. Everyone is all fancied up and stuff. "Alright," Jade says, "Lipstick, Bri?" I reach in my purse for the lipstick and give it to her when I finally find it. Though my bag is small, it eats things up and it's gone forever.

  Jade gives my lipstick a spin. Round and round like a carousel at the fair. To my surprise, it lands on Jade. "Nope," she says, "can't do it. Jack will recognize me in seconds. Let's try this again." She gives it another spin and it lands on Katelyn. "Uh," she says, "I have a boyfriend."

  "I don't care," Jade says. "You just have to get him to the pool somehow. Let's spin it again see who has to lure Adelaide to the pool so she can see him fall." She lets out an evil chuckle and spins the lipstick again. My poor lipstick... The case is all scratched up from being spun around on the hard concrete. The cap side lands on me. How wonderful...

  Note the sarcasm in my voice.

  "Uhh..." I mumble. Jack was one thing, but Adelaide?! She was the host of the party. Well, Jack was the host of the party last week, but still. Adelaide has a reputation of... Well... Just being popular. So if people find out that her boyfriend- I think- was pushed into a pool by one of us, the whole school would flip! Plus they would take her side and target us.

  "Earth to Bri?" Jade snaps her fingers in front of my face. "You there? You completely zoned out for a moment."

  "Yeah," I say, "I'm fine. So what's the plan?"

  "Well," she begins, "Jack is probably going to be with Adelaide the whole time, so we have to find a way to get one of them distracted. Katelyn will lead Jack to the pool, and soon after, Bri will lead Adelaide to the pool. Shawn practically begged me for him to push Jack in, so that's why I told Chris to do it. Isn't that right?" She looks at Shawn and then at Chris.

  "I did not beg to do it!" Shawn says and puts his hands up. "I asked maybe twice."

  "No, I counted." Jade counts on her fingers one by one. "Exactly 17.5." She says.

  "How do you 'half beg' at someone?" I ask.

  "Well," she explains, "it's kind of like begging, but not begging. You know what I mean?"

  I don't want her to waste time explaining it again, so I just say, "Yeah..."

  "Great! Let's get going then. Shawn, you'll take Chris, Collin, and Katelyn in your car. I'll take Heather and Bri in mine," Jade says.

  "I refuse to get in a car with... Them," Katelyn protests. "Boys have cooties." Walter coughs in his hand and walks over to Katelyn and slides his hand up and down her jacket sleeve. "Eew!" she screams. We all break into laughter. "Alright," Jade says, still partially laughing, "See you guys at the party."
