Brianna's POV

I walked up to the school the next morning and saw Jade, holding a cup of coffee, with her group talking to some girl. She looked new, I haven't seen her around these parts ever. I could tell Jade was having a good time with her because she was actually laughing and smiling. Not snickering and smirking.

"Hey guys," I say. Andrea wasn't there that morning. Funny, huh? "Hey, Bri," Jade says turning to face me, "This is Katelyn. Katelyn, meet Brianna or Bri."

"Nice to meet you," she smiles, putting her hand out for me to shake. I shake her hand in return.

   "Nice to meet you too," I say. "Jade?" I ask.

  "Yeah, Bri?" she says in return, taking a sip of her coffee.

  "Where's Andrea?"

  "Oh," she takes another sip of coffee, "she moved to Nevada last night after the party."

  If I had water in my mouth right now, I would've done a spit take right then and there. "WHAT?!?"

  "You heard me," she says inspecting her black nails.

  "But Nevada is so far away!"

  "Psh, no it's not." She adjusts her backpack straps.

  "Uh, considering we live in Georgia, that's pre-tty far from here," I reply tucking loose hair from my ponytail behind my ear.

  "Since you two are deep in conversation, I think I'm just going to go to class now," Katelyn interrupts and walks away, "See you guys later."

  "I should get to class too," I say to Jade, "See ya later!" And I trot off to class.

~•~Le magical time skip to lunch~•~

  At lunch, I sat at my usual table in the back of the cafeteria. I'm looking down eating my meatloaf from last night when I see someone stand in front of me. I look up and see Katelyn. "Hey," she says.

  "Hi."

  "Do you mind if I sit here?" she asks, holding her lunch tray with one hand.

  "Sure, knock yourself out," I say scooting over. "So, what brings you to Georgia?" I ask, poking at my cold meat.

  "Well, I have this boyfriend names Johnnie you see, and he dropped out of high school and moved to Florida," she says fiddling with the fox charm on her backpack, "I ended up moving with him, and didn't come back for a few years. I came back because my dad got a new job here and I was forced to move with him."

  "Oh, I see. Well, question number two," I say, "How do you know Jade?"

  "Oh! We go far back. I knew her when we were in elementary school and we've been really good friends since. But when I moved, she was heartbroken. I had her number, so when I texted her I was moving back to Georgia, she was so happy." She smiles thinking about the memories while twirling her dark brown hair with dark purple tips around her finger. She was kind of like Jade in a way. She seems to have that 'rebel' in her. It's just the way she dressed I guess. Kind of like all of us, dark clothes and whatnot.

  "Well, it was great talking to you," I say breaking the silence, "but I should really get going." I pack up my bag and bid farewell to Katelyn. I think she's not so bad.
