Chapter 16: Party
After school, me and the girls Karissa, Jaelee, and Xalia headed over to Karissa's place to chill and help me decompress from all the drama. As we left, I saw Deanesh with that smug, ugly smirk plastered on her face. She looked like a ghost haunting me, but whatever she's plotting, I'm ready for it. Victory will be mine.
Xalia rode with me while Karissa and Jaelee took Karissa's car since neither of them has a car at the moment. During the drive, Xalia couldn't hold back and asked how I was doing, noticing the sadness etched on my face.
"Dena, you okay, girl?" she asked, her voice full of concern.
"Not really," I admitted. "After everything with my parents and Deanesh... But there's something else on my mind."
"Aww, I'm sorry, love. What's up?" Xalia pressed.
"Anthony," I muttered, almost regretting bringing him up.
"Who the hell is that?" she asked, puzzled.
"Deanesh's cousin, remember?" I reminded her.
"Oh crap, yeah! I remember now. But you haven't really talked about him much. What's going on?"
"I don't know why I brought him up," I sighed.
"Dena, girl, you've been through so much. If he's on your mind like that, it means you have feelings for him. But let's be real, after what he did, do you think you should give him another chance? If he backstabbed you once, who's to say he won't do it again?" Xalia reasoned.
"You're right, Xalia. I guess I'll just have to see how things play out. I haven't spoken to him since he apologized."
"Well, just be careful. It's good that he apologized, but words aren't enough. He's gotta work hard to earn your respect again. Don't play easy to get; always play hard to get. That's just how we gotta do it," she advised.
"I get you," I nodded.
"Yeah, and by the way, I'm glad you put Deanesh in her place. That witch needed a lesson. And I'm sorry about your parents, but remember, you are strong. Whatever you're going through, you'll get through it. We're always here for you, whenever you need a shoulder to cry on or someone to talk to," Xalia said, her words a balm to my frazzled nerves.
With friends like these, I felt a bit more ready to face whatever was coming next.
Man, Xalia really hit me with the feels. It's like she reached into my soul and pulled out all the emotions I'd been bottling up. But hey, enough of that mushy stuff. We rolled up to Karissa's pad ready to kick it and boy, did we need it. We shot the breeze, spilled our guts about life, love, and everything in between. And then, out of the blue, I dropped the bomb about Anthony. Yeah, that dude. Even with all the drama, I couldn't shake the feeling.
Karissa, being the wise sage she is, dropped some truth bombs. "Cut him off," she said, like it was the simplest thing in the world. And then, like a bolt out of the blue, she hits us with this wild idea - a lesbian party. Screw men, she says, let's paint the town rainbow! Now, I've never been one to turn down an adventure, so I'm in.
We're talking about going from zero to hero in the glam department. Karissa's got more makeup than a Sephora, but of course, it's scattered everywhere like confetti. So, we're on a mad scramble, trying to piece together the perfect look. Finally, after a whirlwind of brushes and contour palettes, we emerge victorious. We're like a squad of supermodels, ready to slay the night.
Karissa's rocking a fierce cat eye, Xalia's got this killer smokey look going on, and Jaelee's serving up some serious glow. As for me, well, let's just say my highlight could blind an astronaut. With our makeup on point, we dive into a sea of outfits, each one hotter than the last. By the time we're done, we're looking like a squad straight out of a music video - fierce, fabulous, and ready to take on the world.
As we strutted into the party, the air crackled with anticipation. Yeah, there were some fierce-looking chicas there, no doubt about it. But let's be real, once we made our grand entrance, all eyes were on us. No shade, just facts. We owned that moment like queens strolling into their castle.
Inside, the beat was thumping, the vibe electric. Without missing a beat, we hit the dance floor like it was our personal runway. And let me tell you, we were serving looks and moves that could make Beyoncé jealous. But just when I thought things couldn't get any crazier, boom! A bold babe swoops in for a smooch. Talk about unexpected, but hey, Karissa's always got my back, pulling off a rescue mission like a pro.
Lost in the rhythm, I felt alive, like I was floating in a sea of pure euphoria. The music washed over me, wrapping me in its intoxicating embrace. I didn't want this night to end, didn't want to come back down to earth. With my ride-or-die crew by my side, we were unstoppable, a force to be reckoned with.
So, I did what any self-respecting party girl would do - whipped out my phone, captured the moment in all its glory, and shared it with the world. "Screw men," I captioned the post, because in that moment, nothing else mattered but the sheer joy of being alive, of being surrounded by love and laughter.
Yeah, I've been to my fair share of parties, but this one? This one was legendary. It was more than just a party; it was a damn revelation. I felt whole, free, like I could take on the world and come out on top. And you know what? I damn well will.
As the night wound down and we stepped out of the venue, I was hit with a wave of disbelief. There stood Anthony, his expression a tumultuous mix of emotions. I approached him cautiously, unsure of what he wanted.
"What do you want, Anthony?" I asked, my voice tinged with uncertainty.
"I want you," he replied, his words hanging heavy in the air.
I hesitated, unsure of how to respond. "I... I don't know about that," I stammered, my mind racing.
But before I could process his words, he pulled me close, his lips meeting mine in a surprising and electric kiss. In that moment, everything else faded away, leaving only the intensity of our connection.
When we finally broke apart, I couldn't ignore the rush of adrenaline coursing through me. "Anthony... I don't know if this is right," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.
He reached for my hand, his gaze unwavering. "I know things are complicated, but I'm willing to fight for us," he said earnestly.
I couldn't deny the flutter of hope that stirred within me. Maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for us after all. But for now, all I could do was take things one step at a time, savoring the uncertainty and the promise of what lay ahead.
As I drove home and reached my place, I headed inside, feeling a rush of adrenaline still coursing through my veins. Collapsing onto my bed, I let out a scream, not out of fear, but out of exhilaration. Tonight had been insane, especially with Anthony. But I knew for sure that when a certain someone found out about this, all hell would break loose. Ugh, that girl was such a drama queen.
I drifted off into sleep, thoughts swirling in my mind like a chaotic storm. And then, as if pulled into a nightmare, I found myself in a dystopian world. Flames rained down from the sky, casting an eerie glow over the desolate landscape. And there, amidst the chaos, stood the devil himself, wielding a pitchfork and unleashing a torrent of demonic screams upon the hapless souls.
His breath was putrid, a foul stench that seemed to permeate the very air around me. Fanning it away futilely, I watched in horror as he sent his minions after me. These creatures were like twisted shadows, dark clouds swirling with malevolent intent. Their mouths twisted in grotesque grins as they pursued me with relentless speed, and all I could do was run, hoping desperately that this was nothing more than a twisted dream.
To be continued...
