Happy Halloween
Nora and Celle giggled to themselves as they looked over their Halloween costumes. Nora was spending the night at Celles house for a sleepover after they went to a Halloween house party at Betty Sennets down the street.
Celle twirled in front of her floor to ceiling mirror in her angel costume. The white of it all making her tanned skin look even darker. A halo on her head, a dress to her knees, white converse on her feet and white and gold wings on her back. Her hair was up in an extravagantly simply curly bun. "What d'you think, Nor?" She asked as she turned to face her friend.
"Astonishing!" Nora laughed and stood up to examine herself. She was dressed as a zombie. Her hair was wildly curled and scruffy. Her grey dress ripped and destroyed, splattered effectively with blood on her left side. Her muddy navy high tops were untied, eyes a smoky black.
"You don't look too bad yourself!" Celle chuckles. "Now come on, let's get going, the party started nearly twenty minutes ago. We are officially fashionably late."
And with that, both girls left the house and headed down the road to Betty's. Before they even arrived the music was loud enough to hear from streets away. The front lawn was littered with fake graves and skeletons as well as dancing teenagers. The front door was wide open and vampires, witches, werewolves and fairies were just walking in. As both girls approached the door, they spotted Betty immediately, she was greeting Frankenstein and his wife. "Hey guys!" She shouted over the music and cheering once she saw them.
Betty was just one of those girls who didn't quite get Halloween. She wore the typical bunny outfit. Tall white floppy ears and a short dress with a large poofy tail. Nora disliked Betty's outfit very much. "Happy Halloween!" Celle greeted beside her.
Nora attempted to disguise her disgust when Betty pulled her in for a hug. "Go on in!" the rabbit squealed and pushed the two girls towards the living room.
"I'm going to go find Shawn, I'll see you in a bit." Celle shouted to Nora and then scampered off to find her boyfriend.
Nora nodded and looked around past the tens of tons of bodies for the kitchen. Following where her feet took her, she finally found the kitchen and headed straight towards the counter that was covered with bowls of sweets and a bright green punch that Nora was sure was no longer punch. She grabbed a bag of Haribos and a coke can and headed out the back door. Sure enough there was still partiers out here, but it was less crowded and less loud. She strutted past the fake cauldron towards the swinging bench at the far end of the lawn beside a tree that was decorated with fake cobwebs.
Sitting down, she opened the can and placed it between her knees whilst she ripped open the packet of sweets. Sitting back with a sigh, she dug into both.
"Staying safe with coca cola still, ey? Should've guessed you'd stick to your words." Harvey's unforgettable voice travels towards her.
Nora lifts her head to see him only to explode with laughter.
"A zombie," He says, "real imaginative."
Nora chuckles again, glad she wasn't drinking because the contents of her coke can would've covered both herself and Harvey if she had.
The boy stood there, tall and proud, a white sheet over his head and two holes showing his grey eyes. "Real imaginitive? Says you!"
"Hey! I spent hours slaving over this costume!" Harvey argues and takes a seat beside her. His hand diving into the packet of sweets and stealing a few, only to disappear under the sheet so he could eat them.
"What are you doing here?" Nora asked him, sipping her coke can which Harvey soon takes away as well for a gulp. She glares at him.
"My friend Neil has a crush on that chick Betty. I was forced to join. Wing man duties."
"Oh and don't you sound enthusiastic!" Nora kids, still laughing quietly over Harvey's ridiculous costume.
"Very much so." He replies, "How 'bout you?"
"Betty is an.... acquaintance from school."
"You came to an acquaintances party alone?"
"No, I'm here with a friend."
"Oh yeah, and who are they dressed as? The invisible man?"
Nora slaps Harvey upside the head. "That was mean." She comments.
"And that was hard." He argues, rubbing the back of his head with his hand.
"She's not invisible anyway. She's dressed as an angel and she wandered off to find her devil boyfriend."
"Oh God, they dressed as a combo?" Harvey asks, exasperatedly.
"Yep."
"That's sickening."
"It is indeed."
"Happy Halloween Nora."
"Hmm... so it goes."
