Predator and Prey...
The mission was the usual one's Batman procured for them. Stop someone from taking something so the big league can handle the bigger aspect. Yippee. The only difference was that it was in Gotham. This is one of those few times where Batman actually trusts them with his city. That's the only reason the Young Justice didn't moan and sigh when given the mission.
That is until they got there and Robin informed them they had to do a stake out. Yeah.
So, here they were on top of the opposing building to the museum. Robin at the forefront of the edge with binoculars on his masked eyes scanning the streets for anyone who looked suspicious enough to rob a museum, Kid Flash lounging beside the younger sucking on a lollipop half bored half annoyed at Artemis's consistent hits at his pride, Aqualad behind Kid Flash reprimanding said hero occasionally and watching Robin for any sign of danger, Superboy stood underneath Miss Martian making sure nothing would attack his friends--ahem--team from behind, Miss Martian couldn't be found invisible from the naked eye floating above her team surveying the scene above them.
Kid Flash groaned leaning backward on the building's ledge, "Rob, do we really have to wait for this person to come?! Like how is that even a mission? That's like.....like..."
"An excuse to keep us away," Artemis finished for the fumbling speedster. She was standing next to Aqualad behind Robin and Kid Flash. The Archer was busying herself with gesturing wildly at her annoyance. She continued, "again. I mean, what makes them think we can't handle a bigger, more important mission? The only one here who might fail would be Kid Failure over here."
Kid Flash made an indignant sound and moved to argue, but Aqualad interrupted, "That does not matter. The fact that Batman and the League have trusted us with any tasks, in general, is an honor. And besides, for all we know this could be an important mission. We just need to be aware." Aqualad looked upward and asked, "Miss Martian, how does everything look up there?"
The invisible, floating girl turned around and replied with, "All clear so far."
Aqualad looked down to Robin who was looking through binoculars. His body was positioned in such a way that he looked ready to pounce or hide at any given time. It was baffling how comfortable Robin looked in such an uncomfortable position. Aqualad knelt next to the younger and questioned, "Anything out of the ordinary, Robin?"
Robin shook his head and didn't lower his binoculars as he said, "Not yet, but.....wait. Hold on a sec."
The whole team stood on guard as Robin's torso moved into more of a crouching position as if he was getting ready for something. Superboy thought he could hear that something to as a feminine laugh flooded his senses. Superboy bluntly stated, "I hear something."
Robin lowered his binoculars away from his own masked eyes and offered them up to Aqualad. He stood up and faced his team saying, "I believe that something you heard is either Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, or Catwoman."
Kid Flash's smile seemed to both multiply and divide four times simultaneously, "All of them?!"
Robin couldn't tell if he was excited or terrified.
"All of them," Aqualad confirmed. He too lowered the binoculars and told his team, "They are breaking into the building currently. Team, this is the plan...."

Harley and Ivy were planning on going on their annual girl's night out as per usual that night. They do it every week and sometimes more than once, but their plans changed as Selina made a proposition. One that they were happy to oblige to. Which is why they were breaking into the museum without a good reason. Ivy watched from the sidelines as Harley laughed and brought down her hammer on one of the pieces of art. And Catwoman was pleased to hear no alarm which meant her hacking skills hadn't nullified since the last time she had used them.
Ivy turned to Catwoman. She put her hand on her hip as she asked the other woman, "Are you gonna set up now or can Harley and I have some fun first?"
Catwoman put her goggles on her neck and told the red head, "You two may have all the fun you want with the team, but I'd like to spend some time with Birdy if that's alright."
Poison Ivy ran a gloved hand through her thick bouncy locks as she cocked her hip to the side. She gave Catwoman a look before walking towards Harley. Ivy called over her shoulder to Catwoman, "Oh, that's fine. Such a shame, though that we don't get to partake in the initial capture."
Catwoman smirked to the villain's back as she too walked away, "Don't worry, dear. You'll get your chance later."
She quickly scaled the stairs leading to the third floor of the building quickly. The reason why she did this was that it had the biggest window. Why was this important? Well, you'll know momentarily. Catwoman then moved into position, half of her body shrouded in shadow behind one of the statues in the room. This floor was themed with mummies and things sorted from Ancient Egypt. She was in one of her elements. Beautiful art really, but she wasn't there for that. And as the window shattered from the impact of a little bird reminded her of that.
She moved quickly. Unsheathing her whip and with a sharp flick, it wrapped itself around Robin's body with a fast motion. He made a gasping sound before he reacted. With the movement going down he swung his right leg around and wrapped it around the whip. He gave Selina a smile as he pulled her forward.
"Hey, Catwoman! Long time no see, am I right?!"
Robin kicked as soon as she was in his perimeter, but she ducked and swept his feet out from under him in the same motion. Carrying him bridal style she walked deliberately slow away from the shattered window. When he gave up struggling she asked him, "How's my favorite bird?"
He scoffed and threw his head back. Without answering he flipped backward out of her hold and as soon as he was upright and on the floor he began to sprint away. Even without arms, he was fast. With the whip still around his torso, she simply sighed with a playful grin and tugged him to a stop. He plopped to the ground with a grunt. "Selina, why are you doing this? You and Bruce just had a date yesterday! Can you just let me go so I can get this mission over with? I have homework to do..."
She tutted and slid into a crouch in front of him, "Is Bruce overworking you again, little bird."
Robin raised his eyebrows and said, "Selina, I don't particularly like you nor do I like the fact you're with Bruce so can you please let me go now because you obviously don't care whether or not I'm okay."
Catwoman raised a single eyebrow with such authority she looked pissed. Her eyes hardened as she stood, "I know you don't like me with your dad, kiddo-"
"He's not my dad!"
"Whatever. But that shouldn't dictate whether or not I care about you. And likewise, even if I did care about you that doesn't dictate whether or not I can do this."
Robin asked with a hesitance he doesn't show his team or Bruce, "Do what?"
She never answered as a high heeled show took impact with his stomach and he lost his breath. The impact was so sharp and precise he briefly remembered to click his emergency alert button for Bruce and tell his team telepathically, 'I need a little.....help....'
With that last thread of consciousness, he passed out.
Catwoman gave a small sad smile as she pulled the way too small boy over her shoulder and shouted down the stairs to Ivy and Harley downstairs, "I got the package!"
She heard a shout of "Robin!" and a "Get her!" and a very funny "Stop!" all of which she ignored with an answer verbally, but with a smirk, she hopped thru the shattered window.
***No longer on Hiatus yay! I'm continuing this one-shot in the next chapter cuz that's how I torture people and yeah... Uh....Give me more recommendations....Thanks! Bye!***
