Tsuyu Asui
You took the elevator to the fifth floor, where Tsuyu's room was on the far side. You could hear the faint sounds of a cheerful-sounding show. She was sitting cross-legged on a cushion, her eyes focused on the screen. A small bowl of popcorn rested on her lap, and she occasionally popped a piece into her mouth with a soft crunch. Rubbing your eyes, you peeked through the door and looked towards her.
"Tsuyu?"You mumbled, your small voice barely above a whisper.
Tsuyu turned her head, her large, calm eyes softening as they landed on you. "Oh, (Y/N), ribbit," she said gently, putting her finger to her lips. "You should be sleeping. What's wrong?" You stepped into her room quietly, shutting the door behind you with a soft click.
"I couldn't sleep," you murmured, shuffling toward her. "What are you doing?"
"I'm watching cartoons," she said, scooting over to make room beside her. She patted the cushion next to her. "Come sit with me, ribbit."
Your eyes brightened as you plopped down beside her, pulling the blanket around your shoulders. "Cartoons? Really?"
She nodded, a faint smile playing on her lips. "It's an old one I used to watch with my siblings. Sometimes, when I can't sleep, I like to watch something that reminds me of them, ribbit."
The screen showed a group of silly animal characters attempting to bake a cake. Flour was flying everywhere, eggs were rolling off the counter, and one of the animals had accidentally fallen into the mixing bowl. The ridiculous scene made you giggle.
"You used to watch this with your siblings?"You asked, eyes glued to the screen.
"Mm-hmm," she replied, popping another piece of popcorn into her mouth. "When I was home, we'd stay up sometimes and watch these shows together. They'd always fall asleep halfway through, and I'd end up carrying them to bed. That's just part of being the oldest, ribbit."
You glanced up at her, your admiration growing. "You must really miss them."
Tsuyu tilted her head slightly, her expression thoughtful. "I do, sometimes. But I know they're doing okay. And now, I have all of you here in the dorm. It's like having a big family, ribbit."
Her words made your small heart swell with warmth. "You're kind of like a big sister here, too. You're always so nice to me," you said, your voice soft.
Tsuyu smiled, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. "That's sweet of you to say, (Y/N). But you're part of the family, too. If you ever need anything, you know you can come to me or my friends, ribbit."
You reached out to grab a piece of popcorn, tossing it into your mouth with a grin. "Thanks, Tsuyu. You're the best."
The two of you sat together in comfortable silence for a while, watching as the cartoon characters finally managed to bake their chaotic cake. You leaned against her shoulder, your small frame barely making a dent, but she noticed when your eyelids started to droop.
"Getting sleepy now?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
You nodded, yawning as you curled up beside her. "Can I stay here for a bit?"
"Of course, ribbit," she said softly, grabbing the corner of your blanket and pulling it over your shoulders. She adjusted the pillow beneath you, making sure you were comfortable.
As the cartoon continued to play, Tsuyu glanced down at you. You were fast asleep now, your little face peaceful and content. She smiled warmly, turning her attention back to the screen while the night outside remained still and quiet. Her dorm room on the fifth floor felt like a little haven, a safe space where you could find comfort and warmth in the presence of someone who cared.
