*Twenty-Seven*

"Wait Opal-" Caden said, throwing his hands around worriedly, trying to explain. "You have the nerve to make excuses!?" You cried, standing up and backing him up against the wall. Your fingers curled into a fist and you launched it at his face, hearing a crack and knowing you had broken a bone.

"You have nothing to explain, it was you." Another punch. "Your mistake." Another punch. "Your fault." Angry tears were pouring down your cheeks, and you felt the anger boiling inside you sizzling into a spark when you realized the full extent of what was going on.

He had killed them, the lonely nights, the tears, they were his fault. Your Caden, the Caden you hugged, the Caden you laughed with, he had done this? You cried out in anger and slapped him full-on, but when he screamed in agony and fell to his knees, you knew you had done something extreme. You saw him cradling his cheek, and when he moved his hand away you saw his cheek was scorched, charred flesh all that was left.

"W....what." You looked down at your hand and your fingertips sizzled and popped, and you fell to the ground in shock. "Did you burn me!?" Caden cried, looking at you in surprise, but before he could even ask how, he launched into an explanation. "I was young, OK!?" He said, tears brimming his eyes, "I didn't mean to start the fire, I thought if we became friends I could explain it to you and you would forgive me one day."

Your chest was rising and falling quickly as you took shallow breaths. "How did I burn you?" You muttered, leaning forward and touching his scorched flesh only for him to scream out again. "Don't touch me!" He cried, crawling away from you. Your hands, they burned him?

Clasping your hands together, you saw a small spark appear, and before you knew it, both of your hands were ingulfed in flames. You screamed and shook your hands, but the fire wouldn't go out, but It didn't burn. "What the hell!?" You yelled, holding your hands away from you, only for a strike of fire to launch towards the files, setting them ablaze.

"Dammit!" Caden yelled, "Are you gonna burn my house down? For what? Payback? Is this what your dad would have wanted?"

You snapped your head towards him and growled, inhuman. "You have no idea what he would have wanted!" You screamed at him, feeling the heat flowing through your veins, "You have no idea!" Holding your hands out away from you, flames shot out, coating the room in fire.

You had never felt this way before, so powerful, so in control.

You knew you were getting out of control, that you were burning the whole house down, but the power you felt was too strong, and you let it pull you in. "Opal!" Caden yelling awoke you from your dive into darkness, and you opened your eyes to see him backed into a corner by the flames. "Opal I'm sorry!" He cried, "Will you forgive me?"

"Never!" You yelled back at him, and to your surprise, he smiled and closed his eyes. "That's alright." He said, "Goodbye Opal." It was only then you realized this was his life, a boy who made a mistake, and you were burning it down. Caden was going to die. "Caden wait!-"

You were too late. The flames engulfed him and the rest of the house, exploding his life into nothing but broken windows and collapsed ceilings.

You let them engulf you too, you knew you might die as well, but you deserved it by then, didn't you?

The darkness grabbed you and held you in their tight grasp.
