002 // ASSUMING

"i hope you find a love you don't have to question."

//

Helena, after her sharp remark, notices the male neighbours walking behind them. all the way to the school. she assumes the little one goes here.

so the kids go to the same school? Helena finds it strange because she's never noticed the older brother and the child before. they've never bumped into each other, communicated or seen them in the same area.

Helena waits with Helia outside of her classroom, waiting for the teacher to bring them in for the day. Helena takes the few minutes to watch the older neighbour who looks her age, stand with the child and an ashen backpack.

Helena wants to run away when he catches her staring- bronze eyes looking back at her with intimidation.

she notices the younger neighbour looking away from her. there's distaste in his expression when he holds his sunflower protectively.

Helia's male teacher finally opens the door. he wears a smile that says- i didn't get any sleep last night but let's make today fun! and Helena admires him for it. Helia got a good teacher this year. from the joyous screams of the children waiting outside, everyone seems to agree with her mindful statement.

the male teacher opens the glass door, allowing enough space for the children to walk inside with their bags, lunchboxes and sunflowers. a kid with floppy hair comes into the classroom, shouting at the top of his lungs as his coat falls off his shoulders. "Mr Jung! did you have a good weekend?"

Helena smiles at the sight of the excited children. if only, she could go back to the days where all she had to worry about was who to play with. her happiness has gone from looking forward to lunch, colouring, reading animal books to things a boring adult does.

"have a good day and eat your lunch!" Helena reminds Helia before she can stroll away from her. she's protective over her neice and only wants the best for her wellbeing.

"bye!" Helia waves, holding three items at the same time.

the older neighbour watches their cute interaction. when Helena looks at him, he looks away. "i'll see you later." he tells the little boy who walks away without any sort of vocal goodbye.

Mr Jung greets the girl and boy in the same class, at the same time. "oh wow. look at your flowers!" the teacher shows his enthusiasm, clapping his hands as he smiles happily.

"my auntie helped!" and "my brother helped!" is heard at the same time from the competing kids.

"oh yes, it looks like you all did a great job." Mr Jung smiles one last time at the older family members before shutting the door- ready for the day. a part of Helena wants to join but unfortunately, she has a lecture to attend.

so they're in the same class?- Helena thinks, thinking about the boy next door and his brother. Namjoon and Adora must know. why has she never noticed them before? she really needs to get out the house more.

Helena notices the older boy walk away after dropping off his brother. his veiny, pale hands are in his jacket pockets, hair neat on his head, ears red as he untangles his earphones. he almost tumbles into a stranger because he's so distracted.

Helena hates that she's walking behind him. she doesn't want him to get the wrong idea- she's not following him, she doesn't even know him. his quiet and intimidating nature scares her and she doesn't even know what his personality is like. why is he walking to the same bus stop as me?

Helena finds out soon enough what her neighbour is like. he turns around, taking her by surprise as he holds his earphones in his hands. "listen, do me a favour and quit stalking me." his deep voice sounds, snapping at her.

boy, seriously? "get over yourself." Helena replies. "i don't even know you."

but this was only the start.
