Not the Best Way to Meet Someone

Gabriel peered out from the window with a look of curiosity, gripping the box in his arms tightly as the car pulled up to the driveway of a single-story, yellow home. The front door was bright red, and flowers covered the garden, all colors of the rainbow glimmering brightly against the green grass. Gabriel didn't speak, waiting until the car was parked, before he turned to Castiel sitting in the driver's seat, one eyebrow arched.

"This is the gayest house I've ever seen," Gabriel stated, his lip twitching when Castiel looked over at him in a deadpan, his blue eyes glowing against the shade that the house cast over the car.

"Matches your canary yellow underwear just fine, though. Doesn't it?" Castiel responded in monotone before switching the car off and unbuckling his seatbelt. Gabriel bit at the tip of his tongue as he felt a smile beginning to spread on his face.

"Well, of course. I'll let you borrow them sometime. You seem to love it," Gabriel offered with a teasing wink, laughing at the disgust that crossed Castiel's face as he opened the door, nearly tumbling out of the car as he stepped out. Instead, he straightened up, clutching the box in his hands a little tighter as he walked towards the front of the house, Castiel following behind him with Gabriel's other box in his hands.

He was greeted with the smell of shrimp as he walked into the room, washing over him with a scent of alfredo following close behind. He let out an appreciative sniff, following the smell easily as Castiel closed the door behind them, walking into the kitchen. Inside, a man was there, wearing an apron and stirring  what looked like pasta water.

"Wow, I thought it couldn't be any gayer. I was wrong," Gabriel commented, pulling the man from his focus on the cooking. He was greeted with a handsome face and striking green eyes, the man's lips twitching with annoyance as Gabriel shot him a shit-eating grin, and Castiel eased past Gabriel to peck the man gently on the lips.

"Sorry, Dean. This is Gabriel, my cousin from Minnesota," Castiel responded, glancing over at Gabriel as he spoke. Dean set down the spoon he had been using to stir the pasta, crossing his arms over his chest as he looked down at the teen with judgemental eyes.

"You know, I thought he'd be taller," Dean commented, and Gabriel huffed, standing a little taller and puffing his chest out.

"I can't help I'm only 5'2," Gabriel growled, though from Dean's face, it did nothing to add to his intimidating factor. Castiel smiled, just faintly, before shaking his head, shifting his hands to a more comfortable position around the box he held in his arms and moving back towards the hallway of the house.

"Come on, Gabriel. Let me show you to your room," Castiel cut in, pulling the argument away from Gabriel and Dean. Gabriel shot Dean one final warning look before he began to follow.

"When you're done, you and the chihuahua can come get dinner," Dean called after them with a smug tone of his voice. Gabriel whipped around, letting out a soft growl, though it was betrayed by the smirk he had on his face.

"I will kill you a hundred times over," Gabriel vowed, earning a mocking laugh from Dean and a roll of eyes from Castiel. The black-haired man eventually managed to get Gabriel towards the back of the house, opening the room to the right and revealing a simple bedroom with a dresser, a desk, and a bed. Still, Gabriel didn't mind the sparseness, not when the hint of apple reached his nose and he smiled, quite liking the smell.

"I like the smell. It's appley," Gabriel commented, not minding that Castiel did not respond as he wandered around the room, looking at the cream-colored quilt that laid over the bed. He set the box on it, pulling it open and taking out his meager pickings of clothes, and his not so meager pile of underwear, and putting them into their respective drawers in the dresser. Castiel set the other box next to it, beginning to put his shoes in the closet and glancing over at the hoodie that was folded carefully on the bed.

"Do you want me to hang this one?" Castiel asked, motioning towards the light gray hoodie. Gabriel shook his head, taking the cloth and pulling it to his chest and smiling.

"Nope, this is my sleeping hoodie," Gabriel stated happily despite the sting in his chest as he hugged the hoodie tight to him before carefully setting it in the top drawer of the dresser, away from all the other clothes.

It only took a moment longer, Castiel putting away what non-clothing items Gabriel had before turning to him and setting the boxes on the inside corner of the closet, "We usually eat dinner at the dining table, but if you want to eat in here..." Castiel stated, an obvious offer in his voice. Gabriel shook his head, smiling at the man.

"It's fine. I'll be in there in a minute," Gabriel promised, looking around the room once more, fully intent on exploring it in case there was a dirty little detail he could hold over Castiel's head later. Castiel let out a noise of affirmation before leaving the room, and Gabriel began his snooping, checking each corner of the room and underneath the bed. He slipped the curtain back, his eyes darting over the window sill, only momentarily even looking out the glass before he was moving on.

He had to take a second look, peeking from the edge of the window where he could see clearly into another one. It was a teenage boy about his age undressing, toned muscles flexing as he pulled off his shirt, then working on his jeans.

I shouldn't be watching this, but I really wish I had some popcorn. Gabriel thought, chewing on his lower lip as he stared a bit longer before springing up when an idea hit him. He hurried over to his desk where Castiel had placed his school supplies, dragging out a notebook and marker and flipping to the first page. He scrawled quickly, in case the boy would leave before he could get his attention, and grabbed a penny he found lying inside the drawer corner and hurrying back to the window.

He opened the window, smirking when he saw the boy was still in the process of getting redressed and aimed, hearing a successful clink as the penny hit the glass when he threw it. The boy jumped, turning quickly and frowning in confusion when he saw Gabriel standing there. Gabriel grinned and gave a small wave in greeting, holding up his notebook and showing the boy what he wrote.

'You have a nice ass.' It took the teenager a moment before that confusion lit up from embarrassment to anger in a split second. Gabriel poked out his tongue as he smiled at the scowl on the boy's face, leaning on his window and letting the cold air into the house as the teen left the window's view for a minute or two, only to reappear with his own notebook, holding it up and nearly slamming it onto the glass.

'Fuck off.'

If Gabriel were any less brave, his first school day would have seriously sucked.

His homeroom teacher was intimidating. Despite not being as tall as Castiel or Dean, he still rose above Gabriel easily, making him mutter under his breath as he stood by the man while he introduced the class to him with an easy accent that made his words sound infinitely more devious than they should.

"Sit wherever there's an empty desk," The teacher finally said, waving his hand in a dismissing manner towards the group of desks. Gabriel glanced over them, seeing two options, and letting a grin appear on his face when he saw that hot guy from next door near one of them.

He headed towards the seat, a slight bounce in his step as he ignored the death glare he was receiving from the other boy when he sat down. Gabriel had to hand it to the teen, though. His spine was crawling with discomfort, and he knew if looks could kill, six feet under wouldn't have begun to describe it.

The teacher was smirking when Gabriel looked back towards the front, his eyes moving from the teen and back to him, as if he had a plan formulating in his mind, "Sam, I'll count on you to make sure the new kid gets caught up in everything that we've done?" The teacher stated, his smirk growing when that death ray of a glare turned towards him.

Sam let out a soft huff after a moment of staring, his hands clenching into fists on his desk, "Fine, Crowley," Sam growled, shocking Gabriel a little bit. He figured that he would be a complete teacher's pet by the nerdy aura he gave off.

Crowley's smirk turned into a full on grin, and he turned back to the board behind him, "Thank you, Sam. Now, where were we?" Crowley said, turning back to what he had been doing before Gabriel had walked in. Gabriel used the opportunity to look at Sam, who was glaring at him. He smirked, sticking out his tongue in a little revenge for yesterday, though that was his fault more than Sam's.

Sam rolled his eyes, turning his head away from Gabriel and pointedly ignoring him. Gabriel didn't stop, though, unabashedly letting his eyes wander over Sam with a bit of curiosity. He hadn't got to really look at the boy yesterday, and now that he was, he decided that Sam was definitely one of the most beautiful people he had ever seen. His eyes were so pretty, even if they were mostly hidden by his shaggy hair, and it made Gabriel smile a little bit, knowing that he was going to be his neighbor for a while.

Gabriel didn't know where the time went, but it felt like only minutes before the bell went off and the class was over. Sam managed to grab his things and be out of the room within seconds, leaving Gabriel with slightly puffed out cheeks at not getting to talk to him more than he had last time.

Still, he got distracted when he felt his phone buzz against his leg, fishing it out of his pocket and seeing he had a message from Castiel. 'I have to stay at work late today. Dean will pick you up after school.'

Well, at least Gabriel could tease Dean for being unnecessarily loud last night.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He should have known that he would get lost around this massive school, well, massive compared to where he used to live. He eventually found his way to the pick-up area, blushing when he saw Dean standing beside his car, an annoyed look on his face as he typed on his phone. Gabriel approached, catching his attention, and Dean rolled his eyes, pocketing his phone and crossing his arms over his chest.
"Took you long enough," Dean huffed, opening the back door behind the driver's. Gabriel shot him a glare, a slight pout on his face.
"I couldn't help it. I got lost," Gabriel retorted, getting in the back seat and freezing in place when he saw the shocked look of Sam in the front. It only took a moment before Gabriel grinned, letting his head rest near Sam, his eyes glimmering with a teasing expression.
"We just keep running into each other, don't we?" Gabriel stated cheekily, earning a soft growl from Sam as the teen looked back towards the front, an annoyed look crossing over his face. Dean got in the car, looking between the two with an arched eyebrow, a sigh leaving his lips a moment later.
"Sam, this is Gabriel, Castiel's cousin. He's staying with him while his parents work out their marital problems," Dean introduced, but Sam stared resolutely ahead. Gabriel felt a small pain in his chest at the mention of his parents, but he didn't lose the smile he had on his face as he watched Sam, finding him so adorable with the way he was clenching his jaw.
"Marital problems are the understatement of the century," Gabriel replied, letting the rumbling of the old car soothe him.
"I guess they never taught you not to look into other people's windows while they're changing then, did they?" Sam responded, a slight bitterness in his voice. Gabriel let out a light laugh, his fingers rubbing over the denim of his thighs absentmindedly.
"Of course not. I've never had a neighbor with such a nice ass before," Gabriel teased, earning a glare from Sam and a confused one from Dean. Sam was blushing, though, so Gabriel ticked off a mark in his head for winning that one.
Sam refused to speak after that, so silence fell over the three of them. It wasn't a long car drive, and when the car rolled to a stop at the blue house beside Castiel's, Sam hopped out and hurried into the home, slamming the front door shut behind him.
"You really managed to piss him off," Dean commented, though he had a smirk on his face that showed he was thinking of something completely different. After a moment, he shook his head, looking back at Gabriel.
"Castiel's coming over for dinner tonight, so you need to come too," Dean stated in a not invitation way. Gabriel nodded, arching an eyebrow, but not questioning the order further.
"It better be good food," Gabriel replied before opening the door the car, stepping out and smirking at the eyeroll Dean gave in response. He hurried over to Castiel's house, a smile on his face as felt a bit of excitement of getting to see Sam again.
