Gabriel felt like a zombie being dragged from bed Tuesday morning. Castiel herded him around, the bright-eyed man making him scowl, wondering how could someone possibly be so chipper in the morning as he made Gabriel sit at the table with a sweet and delicious bowl of cereal, complete with little marshmallows that sparked energy in Gabriel to scarf it down, only for him to groan and lay his head back on the table when he realized that he had to leave for school soon.

Castiel huffed when he came back from getting his work uniform on to find that Gabriel had fallen asleep at the dining table. He shook Gabriel awake gently, frowning when the teen yawned, opened his eyes, then hugged Castiel around the middle, resting his head on his stomach.

"Your muscles make a horrible pillow," Gabriel complained, though he only snuggled against him tighter, whining when Castiel grabbed his shoulder and pried him off. Castiel dragged from his chair, tugging Gabriel's jacket onto his shoulders. Gabriel complained again when Castiel forced him to put on his shoes and backpack before shoving him out the door.

"Cassie," Gabriel whined, looking at Castiel with the saddest eyes he could muster, "I wanna sleep. I'm tired," Gabriel pleaded, seeing Castiel's stubbornness beginning to crack as his eyes softened a little.

"Did your medication stop working?" Castiel asked, sighing when Gabriel nodded and glanced around, thinking it through, eventually shaking his head almost regretfully, "You have to go to school, Gabe. I'm sorry, but I have work and Mary is not next door to keep an eye on you in case you need it."

Gabriel let his head lower, his tiredness mixing with his frustration at having to go to school. It wasn't fair. He didn't even know how long he was going to be staying here, so what was the point?

Gabriel's eyes darted over to Sam's house when the front door opened, perking up instantly when he saw that Sam was leaving for school as well. He grinned, seeing that Sam had noticed they were standing there, watching him hurry away from them.

"See ya, Cas!" Gabriel chirped, full of energy as he took off after Sam. He didn't glance back, but he knew that Castiel would be smiling. Still, he long since lost sight of their houses before he managed to catch up to Sam's much longer legs, puffing with the effort of keeping up.

"Slow your gallop, moose!" Gabriel shouted, nearly running into Sam when he pulled to a sudden halt. Sam looked over at him, his brows furrowed in confusion as Gabriel attempted to catch his breath.

"Whew, really had me running there," Gabriel said, wiping the back of his forehead before smirking at the roll of eyes that Sam gave him.

"I can't help your legs are short," Sam muttered, his voice stunted - and totally not embarrassed sounding still - as he began walking away. Gabriel follows him, every three of his steps matching Sam's one as he kept at a slight jog to follow just behind him.

"I'm just going to get a skateboard and lasso and wrap it around you so you can drag me everywhere," Gabriel stated happily, grinning when he saw that Sam had a hint of red over his cheeks before he finally managed to scoff at Gabriel, speeding up a bit. Nevertheless, Gabriel moved faster, happy to follow his moose around.

Despite this, the minute they walked into school, Crowley appeared, his black clothing making him stand out among the more brightly colored students. Sam looked down at him, while Gabriel hovered behind him, watching Sam scowl slightly at the man.

"Bobby wanted me to ask you what your mother wanted him to bring to the reunion. God knows he could have just called her, but he seems intent on making me do all his dirty work," Crowley stated smoothly, his hands in his pockets as he met Sam's scowl with a look of boredom. Gabriel shifted a little closer to Sam, his eyes narrowing in interest at the conversation.

"Probably just beer, like always," Sam replied, his shoulders relaxing a little bit when he realized that Crowley was sent by Bobby, "You know how Ellen and Mary go crazy with cooking."

Crowley let out a nod, a sigh leaving his lips before he glanced towards Gabriel, who was still watching curiously, "Looks like you have a shadow. He's Castiel cousin or something of the sort, right?" Crowley asked, staring Gabriel down with that intelligent, natural glare that always crossed his features. Sam glanced back at Gabriel, as if he forgot that the smaller teen had actually been there, and sighed.

"Yeah, he's very stubborn about the stalking thing," Sam said in response, not giving Gabriel time to deny it before he was walking away from the both of them, leaving Gabriel to scowl at his back while Crowley smirked in response.

It turned out that Sam had to walk back home as well since Dean had to stay late at work, which was nice because, even if Sam didn't speak to him while they walked, his presence was much better than being alone. Gabriel decided that he would be good, and not antagonize Sam too much while they walked, but he couldn't stop himself from reaching out, grabbing Sam's sleeve when they got close to their homes.

"Sam?" Gabriel murmured softly, shyer than usual. Sam stopped walking, looking at him with a weird expression on his face, though, that was granted. Gabriel was never shy.

"Yeah? Something wrong?" Sam asked, his 'hatred' for Gabriel momentarily forgotten as Gabriel looked at the ground, shuffling his feet.

"Do you want to come over and watch a movie with me?" Gabriel asked, his eyes wide and hopeful when he finally looked back at Sam. He watched as the taller teen paused, mulling it over before shaking his head, a regretful look in his eyes.

"I'm sorry, but I have to finish an assignment for English and do my math homework," Sam replied, giving Gabriel an apologetic smile. Gabriel gave a small smile back, letting go of Sam's sleeve and stepping back.

"Guess it's too soon for a date, huh?" Gabriel stated, forcing the normal lightness back into his voice before cutting off and giving Sam a grin, "I'll get you, though. Bet your pretty moose ass on it."

Sam flushed, but he didn't get a chance to respond as Gabriel took off towards Castiel's house, a pep in his step despite the way his smile began to disappear and loneliness invaded his heart.

Another squeal left Gabriel's lips as a jumpscare popped up on the screen, clutching to the pillow he had put beside him for instances like this, curling around it like he used to with his mother's arm when they watched horror movies together. His hoodie fell over the top of his head, hanging nearly over his sight, but he just pushed it back with wide eyes, his chest thrumming with the excitement of the fear as one of the mannequins came to life.

He hid behind the pillow, barely looking at the screen from the top of the soft cloth, the end of the movie revealing the credits only a moment later. His head shot up in indignation at having such a shit ending, grumbling to himself as he turned off the TV, padding back to his room so he could go to bed, huffing as he walked by Castiel's door and saw that the man was already in bed. Even if it was midnight, Gabriel didn't feel tired, but there was nothing he could do.

He got to his room and didn't bother turning on the lights, crawling into bed and hugging the pillow he dragged back with him tightly to his chest. He closed his eyes, letting out a huff as he tried to get his body to settle, listening to the silence of the dark room.

Then the floor creaked, settling.

Gabriel bolted straight up, his heart racing as he looked around the room, squeezing the pillows between his fingers nervously. His throat clenched, his attempt to swallow catching in his throat and making it feel impossibly heavy low in his gut. A whimper left his throat, glancing from the creaking floor just outside his door to the window on the other side of the room.

He slipped out of bed and over to his window, sliding the glass open and shivering when the cold air hit his bare legs. He grabbed his nerf gun, shaking lightly as he aimed, launching several darts at Sam's windows until the light flicked on in the other room.

Sam looked so cute ruffled with sleep, and Gabriel wished he wasn't so terrified so he could enjoy it.

"What do you want?" Sam asked gruffly, his sleep-laden voice sending chills through Gabriel's spine. He glanced back towards his door, then at Sam, playing with his own fingers.

"I watched a horror movie and now there are noises," Gabriel whimpered, chills crawling up his spine when he heard another creak and glanced back before looking at Sam a bit more desperately, "Can you check?"

Sam stared at him for a long moment, an incredulous expression on his face before he finally sighed and held up his finger, turning away and bending down to get something. Gabriel waited, hopping from one foot to the other, ready to bolt out the window if any ghosts decided they wanted to show their faces, nearly whining in relief when Sam slipped out of the window, still in his pajamas, but shoes on his feet.

"Get in bed and I'll look around," Sam offered with a slight roll of his eyes, hoisting himself into the window when Gabriel moved out of the way. The smaller teen nodded, the mouse ears on his hoodie bobbing up and down before he crawled onto his bed, wriggling under the covers as if they would keep him safe and watching Sam fearfully.

Gabriel knew there were no monsters, that it was just the horror movie messing with his head, but his heart and face warmed intensely as Sam checked the hallway outside, moving to Gabriel's closet and, finally, under his bed. Gabriel heard him let out a snort, and when he poked his head up, he had a glitter of amusement in his eyes.

"Well, there are no monsters, but I think these are worse," Sam said, and when Gabriel peeked over the bed and under it, he saw bright pink underwear lying there. How did those get down there?

"They were a twenty pack for five dollars and brightly-colored. Shut up," Gabriel said defensively, looking at Sam sideways as his hands dug into the side of the bed to keep him from sliding off from his position. Sam rolled his eyes, but he pushed Gabriel back into a normal position on the bed, looking at him with an arched brow.

"Speaking of what you wear. Why do you have a woman's hoodie on?" Sam asked, and Gabriel looked down at the light gray clothing, the too big sleeves falling over his hands and covering most of his thigh.

"It's roomier than men's hoodie. Lots of room around the boob pockets," Gabriel stated, making a movement around his chest before raising his arms and showing how much roomier it was at the top. Sam chuckled, reaching up and poking one of the mouse ears on top of the hood.

"And the ears?" Sam asked, smirking when Gabriel touched at them, a small smile on his face.

"Mice never die in horror movies, so obviously I'm safe if I have mouse ears," Gabriel claimed, though he could tell that Sam didn't believe a word that he said. Still, Sam didn't comment on it, just rolling his eyes and standing up.

"I'm going back to bed now. Have fun," Sam stated with a dismissing wave of his hand before he headed back towards the window. Gabriel sat up, not wanting Sam to leave just yet, but not saying anything, because the teen was obviously tired.

Yet, he couldn't help himself from watching Sam climb back through the window unabashedly, pulling his pillow close and cuddling it tightly when the window was shut and he was safe.
