Happy Birthday ||Naruto - Haku Birthday One-Shot||
It had been some time since Yuki Usagi came to live in the Hidden Leaf Village after the events in the Land of Waves. After the deaths of the ones she considered her brothers for the past two years Yuki felt a little lonely. She was in a strange village with strange people, but what she was most afraid of was that maybe everyone in Konoha saw her as a monster.
"I don't like being here. I want to go back to my real home. The place where my mother, father, sister and Clear are. I miss them."
Yuki looked out over Konoha village while sitting on top of the roof of the Hatake home. On Zabuza's dying breath, he wished for Yuki to go with Kakashi Hatake to stay at the Hidden Leaf. Kakashi did as Zabuza had asked and Yuki also obliged with his request, no matter how much she didn't want to. Thinking about Zabuza's and Haku's deaths Yuki let out a heavy sigh as she pulled her knees into her chest.
"That was a heavy sigh there." A voice come from behind her. Standing there was the one who brought her to this place. She didn't want to talk to him, she didn't want to talk to anyone in Konoha, all she wanted was to see Zabuza and Haku again.
"Hey... Kakashi."
"Hey? that's all I get from you?"
"That's all I have to say. Can you please not bother me right now. I want to be alone." Yuki tightened her grip around her knees, continuing to look over the landscape of the Hidden Leaf Village.
Kakashi continued to watch the young Usagi Clan girl that he's become in charge of since coming to stay in the Hidden Leaf. Letting out a sigh himself Kakashi took a seat next to Yuki and wrapped a blanket around the young girl's shoulders. She looked over at him slightly shocked, and although she couldn't see the look on his face, she could tell that he was smiling.
"Talk to me Yuki. You haven't really said anything since you came to live here."
Yuki continued to look over at the masked Konoha ninja. She tightened the blanket around her small body as she tried to think about the words to say to Kakashi.
"Do you think he got his wish?" Yuki suddenly spoke.
"Who?" Kasashi questioned.
"Zabuza. Do you think Zabuza was able to go to the same place as Haku in the afterlife?"
Kakshi was taken aback with Yuki's question. Before his death, Zabuza Momochi wished that he could go to the same place as Haku, the one who was always by his side, and in the end Zabuza was able to be by his. After losing both Haku and Zabuza, Yuki went through a really tough time of accepting their deaths.
"I think he did, but what brought this on all of a sudden Yuki?"
"Well... you see.... Haku's birthday is soon and even though they're in the afterlife I don't want him to be alone. Haku told me that Zabuza took him in when he was very young. Most likely they didn't think about something like birthdays but after being with Zabuza and Haku for two years I thought it to be important to celebrate one's birthday. That's what my mother thought me. That's why I was just wondering if it was possible for Zabuza to be with Haku."
"You miss them?"
"Yeah."
Kakashi suddenly wrapped his arm around Yuki's shoulder. The shock look on her face grew to an even greater intent. Kakashi's arm was strong and warm, it reminded her of Clear when he would become over protective of her. Small tears started to fill her big blue eyes. Suddenly it all came out and she hid her face in Kakashi's chest.
"I didn't want any of that to happen! Haku and Zabuza, did they really have to die?! They weren't bad people, they really weren't! They may have done some bad things, but if you got to know them, they really weren't bad people. When Haku found me, he could have left me to bleed out and die, but he didn't and Zabuza could had thrown me away after I was healed and I could've gone off on my own, but he didn't. He let me travel with him! So why did that have to happen to them?!?"
Yuki completely broke down, the first time since what happened in the Land of Waves. Kakashi tightened his embrace around the young Usagi girl. She grasped onto Kakashi's flak jacket of the Village of Konoha as the tears continued to fall from her eyes. After a few minutes of crying her eyes out Yuki felt a thousand times. Once she was done crying she moved back away from Kakashi and looked up at him to see that the same smile on his face he wore only moments earlier.
"Feel better?" Kakashi asked.
"Yes, thank you for letting me, you know... vent to you about it. It would be nice to at least go visit Haku's grave in a few days, but I know that's impossible. Just letting everything out in the open and off my chest is a start for me. Thanks again for listening to me Kakashi. I'm going to look for Ama and Asa now."
Yuki jumped down from the rooftop of Kakshi's home and went off to look for Asa and Amaterasu, who people call Ama for short, Ōkami. Clansmen if a fellow Ancient Clan. Kakashi watched as Yuki ran down the village streets when he sense someone next to him.
"You heard and saw all that, Rei?"
A young women with waist length brownish-black hair, deep blue eyes came up behind him. She wore a shoulder-less, long sleeve black shirt with mesh armor, as well as the standard Hidden Leaf flak vest that she kept open. Her Hidden Leaf forehead protector was around her waist like a belt, skin tight black bike shorts, and a long black and white sash that drapes down on either side of her legs, stood behind Kakashi. Rei Hatake, a member of the Hatake Clan like Kakashi. The two have been living together for a few years now they're taking care of Yuki.
"Of course. I was wonder where you and Yuki were since Ama and Asa are out walking around in the village. Is Yuki doing alright since coming to stay with us?" Rei asked as she took a seat next to Kakashi.
"I thank so. It's going to take her sometime before she really starts to trust people here. After all, I was the one who killed someone who was important to her, and on a few accession I tried to kill her as well a few months ago."
"Hey, that wasn't your fault! You were on a mission that was assigned to you and your team. We as Shinibi don't choose the mission, all we can do is try and complete them the best we can. You did what you had to do." Rei wrapped her arms around Kakashi. Since the two started living together she started to understand he pain Kakashi had gone through.
"Thanks Rei, but I think there is something I can do for her. To show her that I'm sorry. I need to see the Hokage for a moment, I'll be back before it gets too late." Kakashi pecked Rei on the forehead and then took off towards the Hokage building that sat in the back of the Village.
"What, you're not going to tell me what you're planning!!" Rei yelled to get more information from her lover.
"Nope!" Kakashi replied with a mask covered smile.
Rei let out a heavy sigh as she placed her hands on her hips.
"That Kakashi for ya. He never tells me anything."
Kakashi reached the Hokage building and made his way down the halls to head to the Hokage's office. Coming to the door Kakashi knocked on it and waited for permission to enter.
"Come in." The Third Hokage said. Kakashi opened the door and when the Third saw him, he was surprised that Kakashi was there.
"Kakashi? I don't have a mission for you."
"I know and I'm sorry to disrupt you and your work, but I have a request if I can make one."
"A request?"
Later that night, while everyone was fast asleep, Kakashi woken from the little sleep he was able to get. Quietly, without waking Rei, Kakashi tip-toed down the hall the Yuki's room.
"Yuki.... Yuki, wake up." Kakashi gently shook Yuki awake.
"K-Kakshi?"
"Shhh.... I got a mission from the Third yesterday. You and I have a mission and we need to leave now."
"Now? But it's so early, why now?"
"Because we have a long way to travel and we need to be there in two days. Hurry and get dress so we can go."
Groggily Yuki got up and got dressed. Dressing in black bike shorts, a white skirt, navy blue shirt and she tied her new Hidden Leaf forehead protector around her forehead. Slowly she made her way down the stairs that lead to the lower level of the Hatake home. Standing by the doorway Kakashi was waiting, on time for once, for Yuki.
"Ready to go?" Kakashi asked as if being up so early didn't bother him.
"I guess so if I don't have a choice." Yuki yawned as they made their way to the village gates.
Since it was just the two of them Kakashi would sometimes carrying Yuki while she got some sleep but it wasn't until they got closer to their destination after almost two days of traveling did Yuki realize where it was they were going.
"Wait, this is the Land of Waves. What are we going back here?!" Yuki looked to Kakashi.
"I thought you would like to say hello to someone today. After all, it's a special day for him right?"
The two ninja came to a stop. Standing in front of the graves of Zabuza Momochi and Haku. Small vines had begun to grow up the two crosses that marked each grave. Yuki carefully picked them off and cleaned off the blade of Zabuza's sward, Kubikiribōchō.
"Zabuza, Haku... I was able visit you guys on days of all days, and it's all thanks to
Kakashi. He's doing a great job at what you've asked of him Zabuza. Kakashi has been taking great care of me and I hope the two of you are happy where ever you may be. But most of all I wanted to wish you a happy birthday Haku. You have been the closest thing to a brother to me for those two years. I traveled with you guys, we lived together, and I would like to think that we were happy. Thank you for not throwing me away, but most of all," Yuki turned and took Kakashi by the hand. "thank you Kakashi for bring me here today."
"No problem kid... no problem."
