Night

headcanon monday :) i'm just randomly in the mood to write in the present tense for no reason hahaha

"Come on," he says, hands cupped around her shoulders.

"I'm tired," she whines into the armrest of their couch.

She always gets like this when she's exhausted—delirious.

"I know, sweetie. That's why I'm taking to bed, now come on," he orders, voice still as gentle as the coo of a convor.

"Just a few more minutes," she grumbles, falling against him in an instant as he lifts her up in one swift motion.

"Now," he whisper-laughs back, hoisting her up once to get a good grip.

They do this every night. Well, not this specifically. Usually she is a lot more cooperative, and usually she is awake.

It was a tradition of sorts—a master tucking in his apprentice. Or, at least, in their lineage it was.

Obi-Wan had had done it up until Anakin was fifteen, thinking that he was too old for such a thing at that age.

And while, yes, Anakin did not want to be treated like a child, he missed the familiar comfort of strong hands burying the excess blanket beneath his back, making sure that he was as warm as he could possibly be.

So he swore that he would never take that away from Ahsoka, unless she so asked.

After all, communication was more of their thing. He and Obi-Wan had never been any good at it.

"It's bedtime," he argues back to his sleepy padawan, giggling to himself as she drowsily protests for just a few more moments of sleep before she must get up and get on with her duties.

"You never tucked me in last night it doesn't... it doesn't count," she sighs out.

Anakin sighs even louder, rolling his eyes with an exasperated smile on his lips.

"I'm tucking you in right now," he explains, laying her down on her mattress. "That wasn't last night, silly."

"I'm... really... really... tired, Master," she slurs.

Anakin takes a brief moment to laugh at her state again, twisting his lips sympathetically with a tilt of his head.

"Good night, Ahsoka," he whispers, pulling the blankets all the way up to her chin, not without leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead.

"Okay," she replies.

She's quickly beginning to fall back asleep.

"Would you like to hold Ona tonight?" he asks, kneeling down and making her tooka doll walk from the edge of the bed over to her.

"Ona," she repeats with a smile.

She's had the plushie for years. It's name translates to happy in togruti, Anakin had learned when he first inquired about why she wouldn't sleep without it.

"I've had her since I was very little. I couldn't even speak basic yet. Ona was always my favorite word to say—my first word, actually."

That had made a lot of sense to Anakin.

His little Ahsoka, his light, being associated so strongly with happiness?

Well, that was all that she had ever brought him.

He tucks the tooka doll under her arm, indulging in the quiet trills of her sleepy purring.

"Sleep well, tazi d'bhem."

is this a good time for me to remind you that there's a second canonical anakin and ahsoka hug in the comics?

also! tazi d'bhem is my favorite lil togruti nickname for anakin to use for ahsoka. it means 'little love' 🥰

hope you enjoyed, have a great night, and leave requests if ya have any :)
