okay i lied i have zero time management skills or motivation BUT HEY TALES OF THE JEDI CAME OUT TODAY  AND THAT IS THE SAME THING AS MOTIVATION SO I WROTE STUFF

"I miss her," Ahsoka said quietly.

Rex blinked heavily, still staring blankly at the sky before him and his former commander.

The only sound to echo throughout their ship for the past hour had been the engine. Neither one of them seemed to be able to put their guilt and mourning into words.

"She got him into trouble," Rex slurred, rubbing lightly at the scar on his head. "The both of them got me into trouble. All the time."

"Do you think he knew?" Ahsoka asked after a few moments. "That she..."

"'Knew?'" was all Rex said in reply, questioning her use of the past tense, as if he hadn't already assumed the same.

Ahsoka finally turned to face him, eyes so glassed over with unshed tears that he could faintly make out his reflection in them.

"I can't feel him," she whispered.

Rex nodded, swallowing hard.

"If he'd known," he began, "he would be out there, trying to avenge her."

Ahsoka looked down at her knees, the comm from Bail hanging heavily in her pocket, tapping against her leg as the ship jolted slightly.

"She was my sister."

Rex swallowed again, trying to focus on flying. He knew he couldn't speak in reply without crying, and it didn't seem like Ahsoka was even talking to him, anyways. She was, more so, trying to cope by speaking her thoughts. He supposed she'd talk to the wall if he weren't there.

And then he was clenching his fists because that was what Anakin had used to say about her. He could hear his brothers' laughter in the back of his head, following dutifully behind himself and Anakin, Ahsoka far ahead of the group as they made their way to that day's location for her specialized training.

The memory didn't last for long enough, before reality seeped through the cracks, Jesse's grin morphing into his cold, discolored face as Rex removed his helmet to bury him.

He looked to the right again, sighing when he saw that Ahsoka had fallen back asleep. She'd been in and out of it for the entirety of the trip.

He was grateful that, though he knew she wouldn't judge him for it, she wasn't awake to see him cry.
