The doorbell rang and Gouenji got up to open the door. As soon as he opened it he was greeted with the sight of Kira holding a black puppy in her hand. As soon as she saw him, she held up the puppy's paw and made her wave at Gouenji.

"Say hello, little Gem. ~" She chimed in a singsong manner.

Unfazed by this scenario, Gouenji asked, "Kira, I thought you went to your friend's house. Did you pick up a stray puppy on the way back? I thought we decided we can't have a puppy right now."

Kira rolled her eyes as she walked in, "How bad of a puppy-picker do you think I am? No, this is my friend's puppy, Gem. My friend is going out of town for two days so she wants me to take care of Gem while she's gone." She announced as she placed the puppy on the ground, which immediately seized the opportunity to inspect her surroundings with her nose.

"B-but..." Gouenji tried to protest.

"You know I can't say no to my friends." Kira insisted.

Gouenji sighed in defeat, "I know that." He then smiled, "It's one of the things I like about you."

"Aww." Kira couldn't help but exclaim and she came closer to give him a kiss. Their moment, however, was ruined as Gem started to tug on Gouenji's jeans. He looked at the puppy, then to Kira and then walked away shaking his head.

...

"Gem!No!" Kira ran after the puppy as she ran around the living room knocking everything in her way. She then circled around the couch on which Gouenji was calmly seated, blissfully ignoring the commotion around him and browsing through tv shows to watch.

After circling the couch twice, Gem jumped up to where Gouenji was sitting and climbed in his lap immediately.

"Hey, look, she likes me." Gouenji commented sarcastically, teasing Kira as he knew she had spent the entire afternoon running after her from corner to corner around the house.

"She likes you more than me. I'm offended. Dogs always like me best." She remarked as she gasped for breath.

"Well, you've got competition." Gouenji joked as he stroked Gem's head who was now asleep.

"But why doesn't she like me?" Kira flopped down on the couch, beside Gouenji.

"Cuz you're the one trying to discipline her." Gouenji explained as he pulled her closer.

"Then tomorrow you're going to have to do it." Kira announced with annoyance. She was already exhausted from the whole ordeal. She rested her head on Gouenji's shoulder and they concentrated on the show they were about to watch.

The doorbell rang and Gouenji got up to open the door. Kira stood on the other side, her head rested on the wall and her eyes closed. Taking care of the puppy had been hard on her because even though Gouenji had taken the reigns the next day, she could not help but get up to look what was going on every five minutes and now the exhaustion was visible on her face.

"I have got to learn how to say no." She muttered as she frowned from exhaustion.

"At least now you know we're not ready to have a puppy." Gouenji shrugged in response.
