Sunshine's pov~

I'm sitting in a tree enjoying the warmth of the day. I know tomorrow is my birthday and the day I either go out into the world and find where I belong or settle down and have a big family with people I see as siblings, not happening. I sighed and opened my eyes seeing the sun was up in the sky almost noon. I stretched and jumped down from the tree. I jogged over to the house and seen mother at the backdoor throwing out used water in a bucket.

"Woke up, huh Sun?" Mom smiled at me and patted my head as I bent down to take the bucket from her to clean.

I laughed softly and smiled at her warmth. I walked over to the well and cleaned the bucket with freshly pulled up water. I was humming a soft sound when mom came over and crouched down to my crouched level.

"Honey I know your worried your not going to find your place in the world but I promise once you find it you will never want to leave it and tomorrow it will pull you to it. Oh I can't believe it, your going to be 18, a young adult in her prime. Just remember what ever you do we love you. Yeah your dad may not show it much but he's going to miss you the most seeing as you was a daddies girl. I just hope you find your calling. I love you sweetie." Mom patted my head and rubbed my ear with her furry hand before getting up and walking away.

I looked down at the bucket of water and seen I had wolf ears but not the fur covering my body like mom and dad and my brothers. I dumped the water out away from the well and walked back to the house. I entered and seen dad sitting at the table with my three brothers while they are talking about their married lives. I looked at them all and seen soft fur covering them completely like dad and mom. I kissed dad on the cheek and patted my brothers on their shoulders before going to the basement to get meat for them to eat for lunch. I got the meat amount they normally eat and headed back up out of the cold basement.

"I wonder what sun is going to do now that she's going to be a young adult?" Moon questioned.

"Most likely find a tree and sleep in it up til someone chases her out of it." Dusk replayed.

"Na I think she will travel the world singing songs. She does have a soft voice when she sings." Dawn answered finally.

"What your sister does isn't important as long it's her calling,  just support her the best way you can. Cheer for her and smile." Mom said coming into the room.

I stood behind the door to the basement and listened to them talk when I heard something I didn't expect.

"I'll be happy if her calling was to stay single and home so I would always have my best friend here to help me when she found time." Dad replied getting an aww from everyone.

I smiled softly to myself and then frowned before putting on a soft smile and coming out of the basement with the meat. I set it all on the counter when mom walked over and started cutting it into slices to eat. I walked out after cleaning my hands.

"Sun dear don't stay out to long okay?!" Mom yelled to me as I left the house.

I nodded as I headed out. As I was walking I seen the town of wolf people their human shaped but furry like wolves are. I'm the only outcast here. I left the town towards the river. Some of the mothers pulled their children away from me, they have always though of me as a disgrace to my family for only born with ears and a tail and solid white. I knew I was different but I didn't let it stop me. I walked to the river and hummed a song I wrote with my best friend. A song came back from the other side of the river and I seen it was Takin the white tiger of the tiger town. He sang the song I was humming.

"Hey sun what's wrong?" Takin met me half way across the bridge.

We stood in the middle of the bridge and looked out at the river.

"We're going to become young adult tomorrow. I have had a feeling I don't belong here. Are you going to stay here in the towns?" I softly asked.

"I'm with you all the way. I know your my destiny. I was meant for you, I love you Sun." Takin said with a loving smile.

I hugged him and then started to sing a soft song for us both. We've been best friend for all 18 years. If it wasn't for being born to two different families people would have said we were twins, born on the same day at the same time. We stayed together on the bridge until night fall. We said our goodbyes for the night and headed back towards our families.

I got home and seen mom and dad wasn't up anymore. I nodded and then headed to my bedroom and seen a note on the desk dad made me when I was going through lessons. I sat down and read the note.

"Tomorrow is the big day huh? Well no matter what your heart tells you we are very proud of you and to have you in the family. I hope the path you take leads you to your destin place and you can make a lot of friends and loved ones. I have a feeling you became an adult sooner but I just didn't say anything. You haven't been sleeping since you turned 16. I know you try to respect us by coming home when the sun goes down and stay in your room all night but tonight if you want to talk we can go out to the tree and talk after you get done reading this letter. Your mom should be in bed asleep by that time. Im just so proud of you for handling being the chiefs daughter and what others think of you being a bad omen to the family, you took it all and smiled at everyone. But now it's your turn to tell them good bye and never look back. Find your place in the world and be happy." Love dad.

I smiled and folded up the letter and seen it was midnight, I packed my bag and grabbed it. I headed out towards the tree and seen dad sitting there under the tree waiting with a cup of milk. I sat down beside him and took the extra cup and nodded to him and slowly drank the milk.

"Happy birthday sweetie. Please be happy with your life." Dad patted my back and finished his drink before setting it down beside him and looked out over the field of grain.

I finished my drink and set it beside his cup before touching his shoulder. "I love you dad and I'll be the greatest person in the world. You'll be proud of me someday and can look at everyone else and say that I'm your daughter." I wiped my eyes before I felt a hand on my ear and got some rubs.

I knew he was telling me he is proud in his own way. It became the next morning and the surge hit, i wanted to travel the world. I smiled softly and patted his back before getting up and putting my cloak on and bag on my shoulder and headed to the river. Between the two towns. I got there and seen Takin waiting but not dressed for travel.

I smiled and walked over to him and patted his shoulder while he was crying.

"I'm sorry but my mate is here in town. I'm so sorry." He cried out.

I patted his head and then waved good bye. I got off the bridge and started walking beside the river in the way my heart lead me. My journey begins now.
