Chapter 9 - Midnight Stalking

As you have noticed it's been more than 2 weeks since I last updated this

and no, nothing happened, I just had this chapter almost finished but then needed to go to sleep and complete forgot about it

'Watch' walked into the small hidden building, having just finished a job. He walked into the front room to see 'Cross', who was seemingly troubled about something while looking at her phone.

"Oh, hey False," He greeted them, putting his daggers back into their pockets. "Is something the matter?"

"You bet. Grian- here, you need to see this-" She responded, gesturing to him to come look at whatever she's reading on her phone.

With a vague sense of dread about what he's about to hear, he did so, taking the phone from False's hand and reading what's in it.

He almost dropped the phone.

"What- how- when-!?"

"I'm not sure," False replied, as worried as he is. "But Tango's in danger, that's for sure."

Grian stood silently, still in shock, before nodding. He handed the phone back to False, before turning around and walking back to where he came from. He briefly stopped at the door, turning back to False, "I'm going to go look for him, before it's too late."

False nodded in response. "Good luck."

And with that, Grian dashed out.

He should've known something was wrong when he heard Tango suddenly disappeared from work in the middle of the day, and now, when it might already be too late, he knew what probably happened.

Of course- why else would Impulse be chasing Tango, and why else would Tango be running away, when they're both supposed to be friends-? Why else would he disappear suddenly, by will or not-?

Why hadn't I realized sooner-?

Looking back at what happened, the most likely scenario is that he was hired to kill Impulse, but failed. And that would most likely mean that Impulse knows who Tango is.

But wait- I also don't think that Impulse would throw Tango under the bus, which would mean that someone else had to have exposed him.

But who-?

He stopped at the exit to the alleyways. He needed higher ground if he wanted to find Tango before it was too late.

But perhaps, it was already too late
