3.5 Reality Check

"Ruhi Poddar, you are hereby placed under arrest for the alleged crimes of attempted murder and conspiracy to harm Abhira Poddar and her minor child, Daksh," the police officer announced, his voice firm and authoritative.

Ruhi's face turned ashen as the police officer's words hung in the air. She felt like she had been punched in the gut, her breath knocked out of her.

She took a step back, her eyes wide with fear and panic.

"Wh-what are you talking about?" she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't try to hurt Abhira or her baby. This is all a mistake."

But the police officer's expression remained firm and unyielding. "Ruhi Poddar, you have the right to remain silent," he began, his voice reciting the familiar words of the Miranda warning. "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."

As the officer continued to speak, Ruhi's mind reeled with the implications of what was happening.

She knew she was in trouble, but she had never expected it to be this bad. She thought of Abhira and her baby, and a wave of fear washed over her. What had she done?

The officer's words were followed by the sound of handcuffs being secured around Ruhi's wrists, the metallic click echoing through the room.

Ruhi's face contorted in a mixture of shock, anger, and desperation as she realized the gravity of her situation.

Her eyes darted wildly around the room, searching for an escape or a lifeline, but there was none.

Ruhi's eyes pleaded with Rohit, her voice trembling with desperation. "Rohit, please save me!" she begged, but he turned his face away, his expression a mask of hurt and betrayal.

Ruhi's gaze shifted to Vidya, her mother, and she felt a surge of hope. "Maa, see, they're taking me!" she cried, but Vidya's expression remained stoic, her eyes cold and unforgiving.

"I'm sorry, Ruhi," Vidya said, her voice firm but laced with a hint of sadness. "You've made your bed, now lie in it. You've brought shame and dishonor to our family, and now you must face the consequences."

Ruhi felt a stinging sensation in her eyes as tears began to well up. She had never felt so alone, so abandoned.

The people she had thought loved and supported her were now turning their backs on her.

Ruhi's eyes narrowed into a venomous glare as she gazed at Daksh, safely ensconced in Abhira's arms.

Abhira, sensing Ruhi's gaze, instinctively hugged Daksh tighter, her arms wrapping possessively around him.

Abhira's eyes met Ruhi's, and for a moment, the two women locked gazes, the air thick with tension.

Abhira's expression was a mix of protectiveness and defiance, while Ruhi's eyes burned with anger and resentment.

Ruhi's glare seemed to say, "You think you've won, Abhira? You think you've taken everything from me?"

But Abhira's expression remained steadfast, her eyes conveying a message of her own: "I'll do whatever it takes to keep Daksh safe from you."

Armaan and Abhir stood firmly, their bodies forming a protective barrier between Ruhi and Abhira. Their eyes never left Ruhi's face, their expressions stern and unyielding.

"Don't think you'll be able to do anything," Armaan warned, his voice low and even. "You've lost the right to be near Abhira and Daksh. You're a threat to them, and we won't let you harm them again."

Abhir's eyes flashed with anger, his jaw clenched in determination. "You've manipulated and lied to us for the last time, Ruhi," he spat. "We see you for what you are, and we won't let you hurt the people we love."

Ruhi's face twisted in a snarl, her eyes blazing with fury and frustration. But Armaan and Abhir stood firm, their bodies a solid wall of protection between her and the people she had sought to harm.

As the police officers began to lead her away, Ruhi struggled against their grip, her body writhing in a desperate attempt to break free.

She wiggled and squirmed in their arms, her eyes flashing with a wild, desperate energy.

"No, no, no!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the room. "This can't be happening! Let me go!"

The police officers held firm, their grip tightening as they struggled to restrain her.

Armaan and Abhir watched, their faces grim and unyielding, as Ruhi was slowly but surely dragged away, her cries and struggles growing fainter with each passing moment.

As the scene unfolded, Abhira stood frozen, her eyes fixed on Ruhi's receding form, her heart heavy with a mix of emotions - relief, sadness, and a deep sense of closure.

Daksh, sensing his mother's tension, whimpered softly in her arms, and Abhira's gaze shifted to her child, her expression softening into a warm, comforting smile.

Armaan's voice cracked with emotion as he turned to Abhira and Daksh, his eyes brimming with tears and a deep-seated fear of losing them again.

"Will you be able to forgive me?" he asked, his words barely above a whisper.

Abhira's gaze met Armaan's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, the air thick with tension and unspoken emotions.

Abhira's eyes then drifted to Daksh, who was watching the scene unfold with wide, curious eyes.

Abhira's expression was hesitant, her mind racing with conflicting emotions. She wanted to forgive Armaan, to move past the pain and hurt he had caused her.

But a part of her was still wary, still fearful of getting hurt again.

Abhira's words poured out from the depths of her heart, her voice trembling with emotion. "I don't know if I can forgive you, Armaan, but definitely, I'm not leaving you. I can't let Daksh live without the love of his father."

She took a deep breath, her eyes welling up with tears. "I had lost my papa before even being born. I know the pain of not having a father beside you, to guide you, love you."

As Abhira spoke, Abhir's eyes filled with compassion and understanding.

He could sense the inner turmoil his sister was going through, the conflict between her love for Armaan and her hurt and anger.

Without a word, Abhir stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Abhira, holding her close as she struggled to come to terms with her emotions.

Daksh, sensing his mother's distress, whimpered softly and reached out to Abhir, who gently stroked his head.

Armaan watched, his eyes filled with gratitude and love, as Abhir comforted his sister.

He knew that Abhir's support and love were a balm to Abhira's wounded heart, and he was thankful for his brother-in-law's presence.

Abhira's eyes closed, and she felt a lump form in her throat as Armaan's words washed over her. She could feel the sincerity and desperation in his voice, and it touched a chord deep within her.

"I promise to be a better husband to you, Abhira," Armaan continued, his voice filled with emotion. "To support you, to love you, and to be there for you through all the ups and downs of life."

Abhira's arms tightened around Armaan, holding him close as she felt a sense of hope and renewal wash over her.

She knew that forgiveness wouldn't come easily, but in this moment, she felt a sense of peace and resolve.

"Let's try again, Armaan," Abhira whispered, her voice barely audible. "Let's try to rebuild our relationship, to create a happy and loving home for Daksh."

Armaan's arms wrapped tightly around Abhira and Daksh, holding them close as a sense of gratitude and joy washed over him.

"I promise, Abhira," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. "I promise to make it work this time."
