Xiao looked around restlessly, his thin fingers running through his blonde curls and noticed a very worried Leigha running towards him.
"I've put the posters around that side." She pointed towards the way she came from, from the rows of shops.
Xiao nodded and told her he'd also put up the remaining posters around his share of ground.
He had one spare poster with him and a picture of sanha, to show passerbys and ask if they knew something about the Mexican girl. He looked down on the poster in worry,
Maybe Leigha overdid it a little bit but she was somehow convinced that she'd come back to them safe and sound and they'd all laugh about the experience like something to joke about at a tea party twenty years from now.
What happened was...
Sanha stood mortified in front of the tacky looking hotel, mentally cursing Xiao for choosing the shitty one. Then she remembered she paid so little so didn't know why she was expecting a five star hotel. It didn't seem to bother leigha though, she was still continuing her masters degree in chopstick by trying to pick a spare luggage lock.
Xiao was the one with all the luggage, being the only guy and the oldest he assumed it was his responsibility. What he didn't know was that they only let him because the girls were being lazy.
As soon as they boarded the room, sanha was anxious to get out. She complained about germs and what not and it was totally acceptable as the sheets looked suspiciously green.
"You know what? I'm not even tired. I'm gonna go get some tacos."
Xiao stared, "Taco? In the middle of Beijing?"
"What? you'd think they've heard of mexican food by now comon this is the twenty first century."
"In the city yes, but this isn't exactly rich part of the town, we got these room for dirt cheap. You can't expect this neighborhood to have tace bell!"
"Yeah yeah ok mom. I'll find my own taco, bye."
"You just had family sized meal, fatass."
Sanha looked at her in a matter of fact expression, "There's something in the Beijing air, all these pollution makes me hungry."
Leigha rolled her eyes," or maybe it's your American fat genes, who knows." she mumbled.
"See ya guys later!" she looked more like she was trying to delay from having to even touch those disgusting sheets.
Unlucky for leigha, she was too tired to go taco hunting, and unwillingly layed on her bed as Xiao left the room. All the tiredness from the flight finally caught up to her and she fell asleep.
When she woke up 3 hours later, Xiao was pounding on the door. She unlocked it and let him in.
"Where's sanha?" he asked.
"Don't know?"
"I messaged her but she just won't reply, so i came to check. Are you saying she never came back?"
"I don't think so?"
"She just got here! Where could she have gone?... "
CURRENT TIME
"Should we contact the police?"
"Can't, before 24 hours."
"Then what should we do now?"
Xiao looked like he wanted to cry, "We wait."
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
Sanha was humming to a spanish song she picked up from one of her church trips her mom forced her to go to. She hated that song but it was undeniably catchy as most Spanish songs are. She maybe even skipped a little as she approached the main street. She was for some reason filled with energy. It could be the McDonald's. Who knows.
She looked around and all she saw was run down Chinese food shops, in some they could see people making the food right in the open and it kind of freaked her out as much as it fascinated her. She decided to follow the road straight on, that way maybe she won't be lost. Hopefully.
Her stomach growled. She cursed her American genes.
As she was passing by a corner her eyes caught the most amazing taco she had ever seen. It was the size of a human and like cartoons she thought she saw that glow around the object of desire and the blur of everything else. She heard the heavens bells ringing and most importantly, she heard her stomach give the war cry as seen in 300.
Her eyes turned into a Savage animal and if she had—maybe her fangs would come out too, but this isn't twilight this is a story about a teenage — sorry, a hungry teenager. I'm sure we all can relate.
Before she knew it, she was hot on her heels, pursuing her true love. A human sizes taco. And for some strange reason she though the taco turned around and noticed her too. Something stirred in the taco as grew a pair of legs and it started to run like the wind.
Sanha was perplexed but she was a hunter. She thought back to the cave men times, yes, just like that she's going to hunt so she didn't give up. She turned up her speed and ran after her taco.
The taco was a sneaky one, it kept running and going at all different corners. At one point it shouted something like,
"ching chong ching!! [Why are you chasing me? I'm an honest man i swear!]
Sanha thought it was strange that tacos would speak Chinese and not Spanish. It didn't occur to her that food shouldn't speak at all. Or run.
But she was hungry. That explains alot.
The hunger only grew and finally the taco seemed to get tired, sanha saw her chance and jumped on it. They both fell and sanha bit into the yellow ankle of the taco legs.
A man screamed and finally sanha came out of her trance.
What the heck was she doing?
A scrawny middle aged Chinese man came out of the taco suit. They both stared at each other for a few minutes, the man with fear and sanha with confusion and embarrassment. Then he finally picked up his suit and carefully back pedaled not breaking his eye contact. He said something like,
"Begone, you alien devil!" in heavily accented english and then he ran off leaving sanha all alone in depths of some unknown Chinese neighborhood.
