Brendon and Dallon were throwing a party. Josh and Tyler were going, of course. They hadn't been to a party in what felt like ages. Josh was dressed in ripped, black skinny jeans and a NASA t-shirt. Tyler wore black jeans with a yellow hoodie. Josh kept teasing him and calling him a bumblebee.
"I'm not a bumblebee," Tyler argued, arms crossed across his chest as they sat outside Brendon's house.
"A very cute one."
"I'm not."
"Yes you are, bumble."
"Don't call me that."
"Why not?"
"I'm not five."
Josh laughed while Tyler rolled his eyes. Both exited Tyler's car and walked inside. Music was already blaring and people were just starting to get drunk. Brendon had supplied special brownies that Josh knew he'd have to try and keep Tyler away from.
Dallon pushed himself between the two, throwing his arms over their shoulders.
"Hey bitches!" He slurred, clearly already drunk.
"Hey, Dal," Tyler laughed.
"Here."
Dallon held out a red solo cup for Tyler. Tyler took it and quickly chugged it down, cringing at the burning sensation. He nearly gagged. Dallon patted him on his back before he trotted off, probably to find Brendon.
Josh and Tyler walked into the kitchen. Josh made them both a mixed drink of coke and rum. Tyler stuck a straw in his and Josh gave him a weird look.
"It's easier to get down that way. I really hate drinking."
Josh nodded and took a big gulp of his. Tyler sipped through his straw. Josh laughed at him as they made their way to the living room. The two stood and talked to a lot of people, despite having to yell over the music. They spent most of their time with Brendon and Dallon, who pretty much just made out the entire time.
Josh was deep in conversation with some girl and asked Tyler to refill his drink for him. Tyler took the cup into the kitchen and remade the drink, trying to think of exactly how much Josh had put in. He had no clue how to make it though, and ended up putting barely any coke in it on accident.
He saw brownies out of the corner of his eye and gasped. His stomach suddenly grumbled. For some reason, Josh had told him not to eat them. But they were just brownies? Josh was too protective. Tyler picked up a huge one and ate it all before he returned to Josh. He thought it tasted kinda funny, but he didn't know if it was because he was drunk or not.
Josh and the girl were still talking when Tyler stumbled over to them. He held out the cup for Josh who took it and immediately began drinking it. He cringed and spit it back in the cup.
"What the hell, Tyler?"
"What?"
"This tastes like shit."
"I didn't know how to do it..."
"Oh my god, it's not that hard."
The girl giggled and Tyler got a weird ache in his stomach.
"Sorry, I'll try again."
Tyler snatched the cup and quickly walked away. He dumped the rest of his drink down the sink, deciding he didn't want to drink anymore. He remade Josh's drink, making sure he added a little bit more coke than rum this time. He hoped Josh would like it.
He went back to Josh who tried the concoction again. He smiled in satisfaction and turned back to the girl, who Tyler noticed was very close to Josh. He huffed in annoyance. But he trusted Josh. He was started to feel dizzy and weird so he sat down on the ground in front of Josh and the red-head.
His body felt so hot and heavy, he wondered if he was supposed to feel this way. Was he getting sick? Was he drunk? Did he get poisoned?
He glanced up at Josh and gasped at how close the man looked to him. He reached out, trying to touch him, and frowned in confusion. Josh wasn't close to him at all. Why was he so disoriented? And how come when he looked at Josh he just wanted to cry because he loved him so much?
"What the fuck, Tyler?" He heard Josh say, instantly gaining his attention.
"Uh, what?" His voice sounded so weird to him.
"Your eyes are red as hell. Did you eat a goddamn brownie?"
"Yeah, I was hungry. Man, I'm really hungry now..."
"You're so stupid. That was a pot brownie, dumbass. Yeah, the shit I told you not to eat? And you didn't listen? Not like you ever do but..."
Tyler frowned. Josh was really being mean to him. He was hurting his feelings. Why would Josh be mean to him when they were supposed to love each other?
"S-Stop being mean..."
"God, Tyler. You really get on my nerves."
Tears started forming in Tyler's milk chocolate eyes.
"I'm sorry, Joshy.. I still love you. Please don't be mad at me.."
Tyler's head wasn't on track right now. But neither was Josh's. Josh rolled his eyes at Tyler and turned back to the girl. Tyler started crying now. His feelings just hurt. Josh was his, not that skank's. Why would Josh love her more than Tyler? A drunk mind speaks sober thoughts, right?
Tyler slowly stood up even though his body felt like it was stuck in tar. He walked away from everybody. He walked upstairs and sat in the dark hallway in the corner. He hugged his knees to his chest.
His stoned brain couldn't stop thinking bad things. His thoughts, his emotions, they were intensified. Tyler sobbed into his knees, digging his nails into his jeans. What was wrong with him? He thought Josh loved him? Josh was going to leave him for that girl. Tyler was right all along. He wasn't anything special. Josh fell out of love with him. He was just a worthless thing that nobody wanted.
He felt somebody sit down next to him and tap him on the shoulder. He looked up and saw a man with a beard that matched his brown hair.
"Are you alright?"
Tyler shook his head, gazing into the man's eyes. They reminded him so much of Josh. The guy chuckled and patted him on the head.
"You look stoned out of your mind. I'm Jon, by the way. Jon Bellion. You are?"
"Tyler."
"What's wrong, Tyler?"
"Joshy..."
"Who's Joshy?"
"My boyfriend... H-He hates me, and I don't even know what I did wrong."
"Tyler, your brain is just making you think that. I'm sure everything is alright with him. Has he been drinking?"
Tyler nodded, forgetting why this guy was talking to him in the first place.
"Ah, did he say something to you?"
"Yeah. And he's talking to a girl. I thought he didn't like girls. I don't like girls. Do you like girls?"
Jon laughed and nodded. "Guys and girls. Maybe Joshy does too."
"You call him Josh. I call him Joshy."
"Right, sorry. Josh is just drunk. I'm sure he has no idea what he's doing right now."
"But he's supposed to love me. I wouldn't be mean to him if I was drunk. And everyone tells me that what drunk people say is what they think when they're sober."
"That's not always true."
"I think it is. I just want to go home and cuddle with Joshy until I fall asleep. He's supposed to make me feel better. He's the only one that can."
"So I'm not helping?"
Tyler shrugged.
"Wow," Jon laughed. "At least I'm trying, right?"
"Trying what?"
"To help you."
"Help me what?"
"Stop being upset."
"Oh, sorry. I forgot what we were talking about."
Jon laughed again.
"That's okay. Want to go find Josh?"
Tyler nodded and Jon told him to stand up.
"I can't. I literally can't move. My body is so heavy," Tyler groaned, trying hard to lift himself up.
Jon thought it was hilarious. He lifted Tyler up, realizing Tyler was acting as if he was dead weight. Tyler slowly walked down the stairs, legs shaking from holding up his heavy body. Jon held onto him in case he tripped. Tyler lead Jon to where he left Josh, only to find he wasn't there. And neither was the girl.
Tyler's heart started racing, anxiety kicking in.
"He's not here! He's with the girl! Where did they go?"
"Well they didn't go upstairs. I would've seen them. Stay here. I'll look. What's he look like?"
"Purple hair," Tyler smiled, thinking about the man he had googley eyes for. Jon nodded and went off to look for him.
Tyler sat on the couch, pondering if he loved Josh or Disney movies more. He came to the conclusion that he could easily give up Disney movies, but not Josh. He stared at a girl's sparkly dress for what felt like hours before Jon came back. He tapped on his shoulder to break him out of his daze.
"How long were you gone? That was like an hour!"
"It was five minutes," Jon chuckled. "But I didn't see him. Do you think he left?"
Tyler's anxiety kicked in again, remembering the situation at hand. His brain was going crazy. Him and Jon checked outside, seeing Tyler's car was still parked there. Tyler breathed a sigh of relief and started laughing when he realized everything looked blurry. Jon, however, wasn't so happy.
He saw two shadows in the car Tyler pointed to, lips locked in the backseat. He mentally debated with himself. Tell Tyler? Don't tell Tyler? He turned to look at the brunette. He was busy waving his arms in front of him and yelling that he was moving in slow motion. Jon sighed. He had to tell him.
"Tyler?"
"What?" Tyler giggled and looked over at Jon.
"You know, you're a new best friend to me. You're so nice, talking to me. Helping me. You're a good friend. I'm glad I met you," Tyler rambled, smiling his crooked teeth at Jon.
"Tyler..."
"Jon..."
"I think Josh is in your car."
"Really? Maybe he's waiting for me so we can go home together!"
"Tyler."
"Jon."
"There's someone else in there with him..."
Tyler gasped as his eyes grew wide. His mouth hung open for a long time. He didn't know what to say for one. For two it didn't even feel like it was hanging open until he realized he could close it.
"B-Brendon? Dallon?"
"Tyler, they're... Making out."
Tyler gasped again, looking over at his car. Tears pooled his milky brown eyes. He saw what Jon saw now. He knew it was Josh and the girl. He didn't know if he should be mad or sad. He looked over at Jon who was giving him a sad look.
Tyler felt so stupid. And worthless. The only good thought he had was at least he was right. He giggled at the thought but went back into a solemn mood when he looked back to the car.
"W-What do I do, Jonny?"
Jon was taken back by the nickname. He hadn't called him that before. It sounded like his nickname for Josh.
"Whatever feels right."
Tyler slowly walked over to the car, feeling as if he was in a movie. Jon followed him. Tyler swung open the backdoor and gasped, yet again, at what he found.
The girl straddled Josh's lap, hands pressed firmly to the back of his head. Josh had one hand tangled in the girls red locks while the other grabbed her butt. He also noticed that they were both looking at him.
"Tyler..." Josh whispered.
Tyler started sobbing, not thinking clearly as he began to speak.
"I HATE YOU JOSH! I never want to see you again! I hate you so much! I want you out of my house and I want you far, far away from me! You're a scumbag, a piece of shit. You're in my car cheating on me with some dumb slut?! Am I not good enough for you? I knew you were a liar just like the rest. Screw. You."
Tyler held up both of his middle fingers and backed away, shaking from both his sobs and his anger. Josh called out his name again, pushing the girl off of him.
"What the hell?!" The girl cried.
"Tyler... Tyler..." Josh felt so stupid. He was stupid. How could he do something like that? How could he hurt Tyler like that? Tyler was right. He was a terrible person. Tyler hated him. Tyler never wanted to see him again.
An unfamiliar guy stepped up to the car and Josh stared at him.
"Wow. Tyler was worried sick about you. He was crying upstairs alone when I found him. He couldn't stop talking about you. He really, truly loved you. Notice how I said loved? I hope he never goes back to your cheating ass."
"And who the hell are you thinking you can say this to me?"
"I'm Jon. I'm Tyler's new best friend."
"Says who?"
"Says your ex," Tyler cut in.
"Yeah, says your ex," Jon smiled. Tyler had guts. He liked it.
"My ex..?" Josh bit his lip. It didn't sound real to him.
"I don't even want my stupid car now. You tainted it. Just keep it. My real friends will help me get a new one."
Josh's heart ached at Tyler's words. He knew Tyler was high, but he knew he probably meant every word one hundred percent.
"O-Okay I-"
Tyler interrupted him. "I won't be home tomorrow. Correction, my house. It's not home to you. Not now," he sighed and continued. "You can take your shit and leave."
"Where am I supposed to go?"
"Should've asked yourself that before you and Bloody Mary here were eating each other's faces off."
Jon grinned. Tyler was so bratty. It was hilarious. He wondered if he was like that even if he wasn't high.
"I... Okay," Josh sighed in defeat.
Tyler walked away without another word and Jon followed. Jon went back to Tyler's house that night. He held the boy until he cried himself to sleep.
