Sebastian smythe had just finished school its Friday and he is glad the week is over because now he gets to see the most important person in his life his daughter.

Last year sebastian and his family had gone to France for the summer and he had met a girl there named Rachel berry and they had a holiday romance. His final night there they had lost their virginities to each other.

He had returned to Ohio and life went on until he was called into the headmasters office and walked in to find his parents sat in the office.

That day his life changed as he was told that Rachel was pregnant and that her parents had contacted his to tell them.

Her parents shelby and hiram were so ashamed that they kicked Rachel out. Given his pare ts weren't based in Ohio but his maternal grandparents were it was decided that Rachel and the baby would live with them. Sebastian would board at dalton through the week and stay at his grandparents at the weekend.

His father had paid for a tutor to home school Rachel so that she was home to look after their daughter who they had named Ava.

Sebastian arrived at his grandparents house eager to see his now six week old daughter who he loved more than anything.

He entered the school to see his daughter laid in his grandfather's arms and to see his grandfather sj looking at the little baby with su h love.

" hey grandad" sebastian said.

" hello seb...Ava is your daddy here" sj said before handing her to him sebastian kissed her forehead and looked at her taking in the sight of her. She was changing everytime he saw her she was absolutely perfect she was a mix mix of him and Rachel. She had his green eyes along with Rachel's darl long eyelashes.

" how has she been" sebastian asked.

" absolutely perfect" sj said as his grandmother lily came walking through. While his grandad was besotted with Ava and was very encouraging to him and Rachel. His grandmother was having a harder time accepting he was a dad. She wasnt nasty or mean just he knew he had disappointed her.

" hello seb" she said.

" hey grandma" he said.

" Rachel is sleeping Ava hasn't settled much today" lily said

" its because she knew her daddy was coming to see her" sebastian said.

" I'm going to call your mom I know your dad stated that if he financially supported Rachel it was on condition that you focused on school. However Rachel is exhausted it's not fair she shoulders the stress of a newborn by herself throughout the week. I'm to old to be much help and your grandfather is is recovering from lung cancer" lily said.

" lily just give it sometime soon Rachel will have Ava in routine" sj said.

" I will look after her this weekend and let Rachel rest" sebastian said worried that if she did phone his dad it might not end well.

" fine" lily said as Ava started to cry.

" she is hungry" sebastian said.

" Rachel expressed some milk" lily said sebastian nodded and headed through to the kitchen with Ava snugly laid in his arms.

He fed and burped her and then went upto his bedroom and laid on this bed holding her he couldn't believe how much he loved her.

She laid content in his arms as stressful as life was now with been a young dad he couldn't imagine life without her.

Knocking on his bedroom door

" come in" he said the door opened and there stood Rachel.

" hey" he said to her she hovered by the door given his grandmother had sat them both down and said they weren't allowed in each others rooms.

" are you ok" he asked.

" yes is she alright" Rachel asked.

" she is perfectly fine" he said.

" dinner is ready" lily shouted up.

Sebastian got up off the bed and left his room Rachel placed a gentle kiss on Ava's forehead as he reached where she was stood and then they both walked to the stairs and headed down.

" feeling better" sj asked Rachel as they entered the dining room.

" yes thank you" she said

" I made a hearty casserole" lily said.

Sebastian reluctantly placed Ava in her moses basket and sat at the table.

It was then he noticed just how tired Rachel looked and felt the guilt which had plagued him since he had found out she was pregnant.

" you know lily and I often babysat you seb so your parents could have a night out we could watch Ava for a few hours tomorrow you like" sj said.

" sj" lily said.

" thank you grandad but I dont want to spend the time I'm allowed with her away from her" sebastian said.

" just a thought" sj said they all started to eat.

After dinner they all went through to the living room and sat watching TV sebastian looked at Rachel to see her almost asleep.

" rach" he said

" what" she said sleepily.

" go to bed I'm here I will look after her" he said.

She nodded and said goodnight to them all and kissed Ava before going to bed.

" lily why dont you go have bath and relax" sj said

A moment later and it was just sebastian Ava and sj in the room.

" you ok" sj asked.

" yeah" sebastian said.

" seb you know you can talk to me" sj said.

" I'm fine" sebastian said his grandad nodded.

" pretty girl rachel" sj said

" yeah " sebastian said.

" could use a boyfriend right now what with her parents disowning her and with having a baby" sj said.

" my dad said I wasnt allowed to date her" sebastian said.

" your dad ain't here is he" sj said.

" grandad if rach and I did date and he found out he might send them both away. He o ly agreed go this situation because it doesnt affect him" sebastian said.

" no seb he didn't agree to this situation" sj said and sebastian looked at him.

" when your mom rang us in tears telling us you had gotten a girl pregnant she was beside herself your dad was heard yelling his head off while she was on the phone. He was planning on leaving Rachel in France at a mother baby unit. I wasnt going to allow that seb. I informed him that Rachel was going to live with us. He then said about you only seeing Ava at the weekend and not being allowed to date her. This is my house seb my rules not your dads are to be followed her. If you want to take Rachel on a date that's is more than fine with me. I want wants best for the three of you and I think you two dati g is the right thing" sj said.

" he was going to leave..." sebastian started to say.

" I doubt he would have he was angry seb so was I but it's like then I was diagnosed with cancer was I angry absolutely but what good would it do getting stressed. I was still going to have to endure the treatment whether I was angry or not. Was i upset about the baby yes i thought about your future but then i realised the baby was coming seb didn't matter abou the what is and if onlys" sj said

" everything is such a mess" sebastian said

" yeah it is which is why something has to change seb... Rachel's life consists of looking after Ava. She is grieving the life she thought she would have had. She is grieving the abandonment of her parents. She is home schooled other than us she knows nobody here in the states" sj said.

" I will talk to her in the morning and ask if she wants to do something" sebastian said.

" like I said at dinner I'm happy to babysit she is the most beautiful baby" sj said.

" grandad" sebastian said.

" yes" sj said.

" I know you said that you had to accept that Ava was going to be born but out of everyone grandma my dad even my mom you seem the most ok with it all" sebastian said.

" when I was told I had cancer I thought I wouldn't get to meet any great grandchildren I guess I'm just pleased I'm here to see her. I'm pleased to see the dad your becoming too. Your name maybe smythe but your heart is a Hamilton like me and your mom" sj said

The next morning

Sebastian was up early thanks to Ava he was I the kitchen pouring himself a much needed coffee when Rachel came walking in she looked better after a good night's sleep.

" morning" he said handing the now pour mug of coffee to her and grabbing another mug.

" morning and thanks" she said for the coffee.

" sorry I slept through last night" she said having picked Ava up out of her moses basket.

" dont worry about it every time she cried it was an excuse to cuddle her" he said walking over to them as Rachel was cuddling Ava.

" she is so beautiful" sebastian said.

" she really is" Rachel admitted.

" just like her mommy" he said Rachel looked at him.

" I was thinking it's a nice day and you have been cooped up here all week why dont we go out for a few hours" sebastian asked.

" where too" she asked.

" the park we could take some sandwiches and have a little picnic " he said. Rachel smiled they had few picnics in France.

" ok" she said.

" everything ok" lily asked walking in.

" yeah we are just making plans for the day" sebastian said.

" what are you planning" lily asked.

" a picnic in the park" sebastian said

" so does this mean we are babysitting" sj asked walking in.

" no we are taking her with us" sebastian said.

" well then seen as we are free to do what we want now about I take you to your fravorite restaurant" sj said to lily.

" ok" lily said with a smile.

A short while later sebastian Rachel and Ava arrived at the park it was a nice day not to hot for ava but it was bright.

Sebastian laid a blanket on the floor and Rachel sat down with ava in her arms while sebastian laid out their sandwiches.

" feels like a life time ago we had a picnic" sebastian said.

" alot as happened since" Rachel said

" yeah" sebastian said reaching over and stroking Ava's cheek.

" everything has changed" Rachel said.

" not everything" sebastian said before offering her a sandwich.

They ate and took turns holding Ava before going for a stroll around the park.

" it's a beautiful park" Rachel said

" yeah it is" he said.

" seb" she said

" yeah" he said

" earlier when I said everything has changed you said not everything what did you mean" she asked sebastian who had been push Ava's stroller stopped and looked at Rachel.

" I meant that I still love you I never stopped if anything having Ava has made me love you more. Today I planned on asking you on a date but was worried you would say no so I asked you on a picnic. I see this as a date but its upto you" he said.

" it's a date" she said before starting to cry.

" come here" he said pulling her to him holding her.

" I have missed having you in my arms" he said.

" I have missed being in them" she said before pulling away slightly so that they could kiss.

" rach I dont know what the future is going to hold for us but I know we are going to face it together" he said.

" wont your dad be mad" she asked.

" yeah probably but screw him your what I want you and our daughter are the light of my life " he said before kissing her again.

A short while later they arrived at his grandparents house lily and sj were both sat on the couch when they walked in.

" hello you three did you have fun" sj asked.

" yeah" sebastian said smiling at Rachel.

" good" lily said.

" Rachel and I are together" he said.

" that's wonderful" sj said.

" Charles said..." lily started to say.

" Charles says alot of things none of which I listen too" sj said.

" grandma Rachel and I have learnt from what's happened we are no longer foolish teenagers we are parents if you trust us to raise our daughter trust us to be together" sebastian said.

" ok then but I will say this I'm a very light sleeper" lily said.

" yes grandma" sebastian said.

" did you enjoy your meal" Rachel asked them.

" yes it was lovely sebastian should take you there the food is amazing" lily said.

" I will do" sebastian said before pulling her to him Ava was asleep in her car seat.

" this is a most pleasing turn of events our great granddaughter has hee mommy and daddy together, and you too smiling again especially you Rachel" sj said.

" you do seem alot happier" lily said smiling at her.

" I am" Rachel said.

" if you leave your bedroom door open you can be in there together" lily said.

" shall we go up and watch a dvd" sebastian asked.

" yeah" Rachel said.

Five minutes later they were in his room Ava was still sleeping and they were laid on top of his bed making out.

" I love you" she said

" I love you" he said before they starting making out again.

" rachel" he said breaking the kiss

" what" she said.

" I meant what I said you and Ava are the light of my life" he said.

" your mine" she said before they kissed again.

Sebastian couldn't believe that he had Rachel back although his life was crazy at the moment with having Ava and still being at school he couldnt help but that now he and Rachel were back together everything was going to to turn ok alright.
