From- Drafted book "Freaks"

Characters- Nex & Acid

"Has anyone seen Nex?" Acid asked as he walked around the circus arena. 

"No, why?" Flura asked as she helped sweep the stands.

"I haven't seen him since his performance and he normally accompanies me after every show." Acid explained as he tried to not grow too worried.

His boyfriend was a demon, after all, he could take care of himself easily.

"Last time I saw him he was heading home, I told him to stay here and help us clean up but he ignored me," Alexis stated as she slithered over to the two.

"Okay, thank you. I'm going to go find him. Dinner's on me again." He said before handing Flura his card and running out of the tent.

Nex was normally happy and bright but when he wasn't he was a danger to others and himself.

So, Acid quickly left for the house.

Once there he called out for Nex, hearing a loud bang from upstairs followed by a loud string of curses.

He rushed to the source of the noise and found Nex holding his foot as he leaned against Acid's bed, his lip between his teeth as he tried to muffle his cries of pain.

"What happened Love?" Acid asked as he walked over to Nex, happy to see him and know that he hadn't gone off to hurt a civilian.

Nex's eyes snapped over to Acid. Panic welled up in them alongside his tears before they began to run down his face.

"Hey, hey, hey, what's wrong? What can I do to help?" Acid asked as he helped Nex move so he was sitting down on the bed instead of standing next to it.

"I'm not good enough for you." Nex sobbed out confusing the Hell out of Acid.

"What? You're way too good for me, now Is your foot okay?" Acid replied, trying to drive the conversation into a way where he could help Nex get rid of the pain he was in.

"But I'm not! I'm needy, I'm dramatic, I talk too much, I annoy you all the time, I mess up a lot in performances, I-" Nex was cut off by Acid kissing him.

He wanted to pull away and protest that he wasn't worthy of the affection but he couldn't, his body wouldn't let him reject his mate's love.

"I don't know what happened to make you think any of that is true but it's not. I know you deserve the world, the sun, the stars, and everything beyond that too. I don't know why you would ever think you're not good enough for me because you are more than I could have ever asked for in the best way imaginable." Acid stated when they pulled apart, his hands still cupping Nex's face. His thumbs began to wipe the tears from his face while they were there.

"But-" Nex began only to be cut off again.

"No ifs no buts no coconuts. I don't want to hear it, I love you and you love me and that's the truth. I don't know what made you think otherwise but if it was someone then I'll need a name so I can... have a chat with them." Acid stated making Nex smile slightly at the first fraze.

"Nobody made me think it other than my own mind," Nex answered as he nuzzled his head into Acid's hands.

"Well, your mind is a bitch and needs to stop telling you lies." Acid said before kissing the top of Nex's head.

"Now that that's settled, is your foot really okay?" He asked, still trying to see if he needed any physical help.

"No, it hurts like a bitch. I slammed it into the bedpost when I came up here to drown in my stupid thoughts." Nex answered honestly making Acid give him a sympathetic smile.

"Let me get you an ice pack. Also, the next time those stupid thoughts show up come to me, please. I'll help talk you through them or distract you by watching a show or something more physical if you want~" Acid purred into his ear before getting up and leaving the room to get an ice pack, leaving a flustered Nex lying on the bed.

Once Acid was back in the room he gave the ice pack to Nex who put it on his injured foot before he cuddled into Acid's chest.

"Thank you." He said softly, getting a hum of acknowledgment in return.

After a few minutes of cuddling in peaceful silence, Acid turned on 'Spirited Away', a Studio Ghibli film before relaxing fully against the bed once again.

The two watched the movie until they fell asleep, feeling safe and content in each other's embrace.

Any time in the future from then on, if Nex's mind told him terrible things about anything, Nex would talk to Acid about it and Acid kept his promise and either talked him through it, distracted him, or both in that order.

✨And they lived happily ever after✨

840 Words! I am SO SORRY for 1) this being so short & 2) For dropping off the face of the earth on here! I've been SUPER BUSY in school lately and then after school, I'm too exhausted to write anything because I've just spent the whole day being productive.

I'll try to update on the weekends but they tend to be super busy as well so idk how frequent updates are going to be, so sorry again.

I have 6 drafts in this book right now and three of them are requests so I'll try my best to get them out at some point soon-ish!
